  1. I wonder how many people go to an 11:30 am AA game? Do they still serve beer at that hour? Enquiring minds want to know. Forget 11:30 - yesterday, Daytona had a 10:30 game (it was Education Day and the crowd was mostly school children - I want to know where my field trip to a minor league game was when I was in elementary school). LOL I went to a game like this last year in Daytona, they handed out some kind of squeking noise maker. It was pure insanity. Gallagher pitched, I think the kids left early which was a major relief. It was nice becuase it gave me a chance to get home at a decent hour (I live on the other side of the state). I kinda wish there were more games played that early. Another nice side effect of games at that time is that they are much cooler than an afternoon game.
  2. What time in the morning are waivers processed? Anyone know?
  3. I know this is evil, but I have Chris Duncan on my fantasy team, it seems like TLR benches him for Taguchi randomly. Is there someone here that follows the Cards enough to know what the pattern is here? Is he sitting against lefties? I picked up Shawn Green today and Im thinking I might use him on the days the Cards are facing a lefty, if thats the deal. Whats the method to the madness here?
  4. Damage? But everyone told me he was just soft and I believed them. [/sarcasm] LOL well there were plenty of people on these boards making that claim. I believe Mark can come back and be a solid major league pitcher. Im torn however on wether or not the Cubs should pay him or cut him, I think they have to pay him a rather large amount since they can only pay him a certain amount less than what he made this year. The Cardinals will probably sign him and he'll win Cy Young awards for them.
  5. Will Carroll has a better breakdown of what was done during the surgery on his blog today at BP https://baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=341
  6. Maybe he was listening to all these idiots that kept calling him a pansy because he wouldnt play through pain, so he was trying to.
  7. Young players do not improve by being played sparingly off the bench. If your not going to use Murton, send him down where he can play on a regular basis so he can be sharp if you ever do want to play him.
  8. Indeed. That's basically why baseball is the only major sport that has that "intermediate" level i.e. the minor leagues. even though hockey has fallen by the wayside, they have the CHL/ECHL (AA), and the AHL (AAA). Though player development is tons different in hockey. Yeah, I don't think more wood bats is suddenly going to make college baseball more popular and minor league obsolete. I don't see how olemiss can back up his claim. Are you kidding? Wood bats would make a huge difference. Ive never seen a college baseball game (in person), aluminum bats are the main reason for that. The difference between wood baseball and aluminum is huge to me. "ping" does not invoke baseball memories for me. Not to mention the gigantic advantage it give the hitters. They can foul off certain types of pitches all day long, with the wood bat they would probably K on. I guess my love of pitching is one of the reasons I loathe the metal bats. The collge game is almost comical to me. Id probably go see alot of college games if they used wood. I think alot of other people feel this way. Just my 2 cents.
  9. Good. Unless the Cubs can not pay him ace money, I don't want him. It's very strange, but I find myself more excited about the potential to trade Zambrano for some high-end prospects than anything else about the Cubs' season. The sad part about that is that they probably wont even attempt to trade him and he will walk at the end of the year with us having gotten nothing for him. :(
  10. This is great, I hope it starts a trend. Id love to see them ban aluminum bats everywhere on every level. College would sure be more interesting if they used wood bats, they would basicly be very similar to the minors then.
  11. Wait... seriously? Check out Lance Dickson's numbers. Definitely a joke. Dickson was drafted in the 1st round of the 1990 draft. Made his ML debut on August 9, 1990 and played his final game on August 18, 1990. Did he get injured or could he just not get the job done? Lance had serious arm/shoulder injuries. They were such that they just shut him down and he was never heard from again. I dont think they could fix him. I remember being really excited about him at one time.
  12. Id rather see Murton, Pie and Theriot in there rather than Flyod, JJ and Izzy. *sigh* oh well
  13. I have a great deal of repect for those that fight the ham. Not everyone can fight ham...
  14. Just watch out for people running starters out of there RP slots...
  15. Tim is only 27 points behind him. Less than that. I have to wipe out two of his starts from last week still. Hah! I knew something was fishy
  16. Those numbers largely due to MM's incredible start
  17. That's my boy! I played behind him at Ole Miss. He's sick. I'm very happy for him. I dont remember hearing much about him. Whats his stuff like? How does he project, how old is he ect.
  18. I think they will not want to pull the trigger on a deal before the trading deadline because they will feel like they "need" Z. Its the right thing to do though, as long as you get valueable players back. The Angels have some players Id sure love to see in a Cubs uniform Wood being one of them.
  19. If I know the Cubs they will continue to run this guy out there, and will excuse this start to wind. *sigh*
  20. Is this really suprising to anyone? LOL We all knew he sucked.
  21. http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewAmateurPlayerProfile.do?playerId=659&draftId=5 High school third base prospect from Orange County, CA. *cringe* oh no! not a highschooler again. Thanks for the link Raisin. I trust Wilken's talent evaluation I guess. I wish Price would fall to us somehow but I have my doubts.
  22. Is there a way to listen to the iowa game via the internet?
  23. We need to save some runs for tommorow, we will need them tommmorow with Miller going
