  1. Nah Id be pretty happy to. I don't like Castro and I'd certainly prefer to have Zobrist on the roster than Castro. I just see Castro as a defensive liability and a bit of a mental flake. He's had a pretty inconsistent career.
  2. I like this a lot Baez starting in RF for Cangrejeros tonight in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League. He was 1/2 with an RBI single and a ground out last update I saw.

  4. It's not terrible I guess just disappointing. It seems like they could do much better. It doesn't seem like those moves make us a much better team, Span is a downgrade from Fowler if he can even stay healthy and those 2 pitchers are fairly mediocre.
  5. Yup... Leake and Lacky and Denard Span... Yay... :(
  6. In four years of constant waiver shuffling, the only player of any consequence that has emerged has been Valbuena, unless I'm just completely spacing out and missing someone. One free Valbuena every four years isn't nothing, but let's not overpraise the situation. Yeah, I'm not sure its a wise use of a roster spot but they have way more info on these guys and their guys for that matter than I can ever hope to have.
  7. So I wondered how this worked with the 40 man roster. We have to keep this guy on the 40 man but only until the season starts then we can DL him? I can't recall a team ever claiming a guy rehabbing from major elbow surgery who's likely to miss most of the coming season. They must think pretty highly of him if they are willing to expose a decent prospect the the rule 5 draft to keep him. It's an odd move.
  8. There are 3 or 4 people here that can do a far better job of talking about minor leaguers than Arguello. He doesn't have much credibility with me, he's spent years building a following with fake sources and just making crap up. Maybe having to be accountable to a boss will straighten him out somewhat. I love a lot of the writers that left BP to join 2080 so I guess we'll see.
  9. Eh, that's his strength easily. I'm interested to see what happens with it and BP, since they've taken a ton of guys from there. What's his strength?
  10. Chesny Young had a .066 ISO as a 23-year-old in high-A and A-ball. He has no hope of adding power, and he can't play shortstop. That's about all that needs to be said about his prospect status. It's nice that he has done well. And maybe he ends up as, like, a 6th-infielder, 25th-man-on-a-roster type. But, that's his best hope. Power isn't everything and you need some guys who can set the table for power hitters. Most of his year was in high A and he'll start the season in AA. He's not 30 he's 23. I'm not expecting him to be an all-star but I believe he can be a valuable bench/utility guy. He also did play SS some and can do a solid job there when needed.
  11. I like Chesny Young better than McKinney. He lacks power like Billy but its hard to ignore a .394 obp and a .321 avg the guy can get on base and he can play all over the diamond without being a liability anywhere. Maybe most people are thinking his hit tool will fizzle at AA? I dunno I like the guy though. I guess Billy is younger and he is a level ahead so that makes him more advanced but in the end Young might have more value at the major league level.
  12. Ok well that nullifies that opinion thanks for the heads up, I had no idea. Hate that guy.
  13. Enjoyed this guy's piece on Rob Zastryzny http://appraisingarizona.blogspot.com/2015/10/afl-notes-dominic-smith-casey-gillaspie.html He's also worth a follow on twitter: @AZLBaseball
  14. Anyone worried about the cold weather effecting our bats? Probably going to get to see Soler in full ninja gear.
  15. Old poster checking in here - thank you for keeping the party rolling for 15 years Tim. Well I think a lot of the old posters left. People here became assholes and some of the best guys left. There are still some good folks here but frankly I rarely ever post anything here anymore because of the way things have gone here. It's sad I used to love these boards. Mostly I come here for Ct, Tiger and Raisin and how great the minor league forums are/have been. Outside of that I mainly just lurk these days and I've been around since the beginning. This series was incredible and one I'll never forget. I think we are going to get much deeper before it's over and maybe we win it all.
  16. I love this lineup, it is my favorite.
