  1. Anyone hear an update on Torres status? Noticed he was not in the lineup for Southbend and there were reports he came up limping on the way to first yesterday.
  2. Don't understand how that makes any sense, he's strictly a 1st baseman is he not? What a waste of a roster spot. He has played OF for all but 2 of his 125 games as a major leaguer. Ah well at least he has a small amount of versatility, wasn't aware he could play the outfield. He's an easy guy to release if they need the roster spot. There were other guys I'd rather see given a shot, but it's not the end of the world.

  4. Because that's all Motte is capable of throwing. I've never seen him throw anything but a fastball, not sure he has anything else.
  5. Dont like it pro or sub. Its clunky confusing and ugly. There's a whole bunch of garbagy icony things everywhere that serve no real purpose but to clutter and confuse. I liked the old boards much better. Im sure Im in the minority though. I guess Im just old and set in my ways. Wish there were a way I could have the simple clean cut message boards of old.
  6. Baez struck out in his first at bat, high fastball out of the zone
  7. That's all CSN did really. They haven't mentioned it since the play either.
  8. It's not that Soler has been bad, it's that he's striking out so much, something that he never did in the minors. Well seems like when there are runners on his approach changes dramatically
  9. Yeah it's that 91 mph heat down the middle, it's apparently very challenging
  10. What's with all the helmet rubbing lately? Anyone notice that?
  11. If he's consistently sitting 92-93, we ranked him too low. Yup, velocity is why a lot of people ranked him to low, there were reports that he was hitting low 90s consistently last year. He's going to be a solid middle of the rotation starter.
  12. Hannemann wasted no time getting started he cranked a HR in his first at bat. ** blast it Tim beat me
  13. So Cubs moved high A team to Myrtle Beach to avoid rainouts.... hows that working out? Pelicans rained out again today
  14. For real not in the lineup for either of these double header games? **edit nm I guess he did play in the first one. Seems like they could have put him in left for the second game, I guess catching could be pretty taxing on your body makes some sense to take the second game off.
  15. Javy was up within a matter of a few weeks after moving to 2B last year, IIRC... It's true! Man I wish they'd call him up soon. I know it's not likely but it's what I want damn it!
  16. No way. Bryant will be up by 7 days from now. Russell won't be unless snakes devour all our current middle infield options. I'll check back in later, I'm headed to the snake store now...
  17. So he's Billy Butler? Billy Butler steals bases. Voglebach has stolen some bases...
  18. I really wish they would bring Addison up when they bring up Bryant, I realize it'll prob be July or something though.
  19. Addison hit one that looked like it was going to be gone but it hit the top of the large wall in left, wound up being a double. Almora walked again tonight, Voglebach with 2 walks and that game is only in the bottom of the 2nd.
  20. Was thinking the same thing, maybe they will send him to Eugene later this summer for short season ball.
  21. Really dont like that Billy McKinney is repeating high A for no apparent reason
  22. I knew the espn guys would suck that's why I have the cubs radio guys in my ear. Had to pause the tv a little to sync them up though.
  23. Sweet another season begins where I'm going to be more interested in whats going on in the minors than the majors. Not that I thought Bryant would make the opening day roster. I was hoping Baez would make enough adjustments that he'd be there opening day. I think Russell and Bryant are ready, Baez obviously has some work to do. :bye:
  24. I like that idea. Baseball Reference says he has 55 days of service time from last season. 172 is a full season, right? Not sure if him starting at AAA would move back arbitration/avoid super two... I don't think there's a motivation behind that from the team necessarily, but possible effect of him being down if he struggles in AAA. I'm guessing he does not make the team. He's been bad for quite awhile now and hasn't shown much this spring. I've only watched a few games and it does seem like he's trying to be more patient by taking pitches but that's not the same as pitch recognition. He takes pitches right down the middle and swings at ones in his eyes or that bounce 2 feet in front of the plate. Seems like he's guessing (badly). I'd send him down and wait for some sustained success. He's never really had a problem working the count. Last season it seemed like he saw plenty of pitches but the result was usually the same long or short count.
