  1. Thats been Floyd all year Except of course until he rips a pitch foul down the right line to a chorus of ooohs and aahs from the Wrigley crowd, re-instilling false confidence in his ability to hit for any semblance of power whatsoever.
  2. I was gonna say, did anyone else think Lee should have gone to third easily?? Absolutely. That ball died as soon as it reached the OF grass.
  3. Weak grounder to the right side coming up in 3...2...1...
  4. You'd think this is Jake Peavy's slider we're talking about here. Every Cob is just up there hacking at that thing.
  5. Not that it matters much (sample size), but Trachsel was horrible vs. the NL this year in interleague play- 5.93 ERA, 1.63 WHIP. Another thing- Trachsel was actually pretty decent at home (TBACY); 3.65 ERA, 1.49 WHIP. However on the road, he had a 5.27 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP. Needless to say, this...should be interesting.
  6. Well...I guess we got a little more 'cagey' today. So there's that.
  7. Depends on if we get June Fonzie or July Fonzie. That guy is as streaky as they come.
  8. Or 12 games remaining vs. the Reds and Astros.
  9. FWIW Dave Bush is pitching for the Crew today. In spite of Bonds being out of the lineup, I think Bush and his 4.93 ERA should give the Giants a shot at putting up some numbers.
  10. Yea- in this case was Dusty was correct. I'd assume that in general, free-swinging lineups tend to have more difficulty with pitchers whom they've never faced.
  11. 12 games combined vs. the Reds and Stros. Argh.
  12. Lefties get on base at an appreciably higher rate vs. Cain than do righties (.355 OBP vs. .293) and sport a decent .736 OPS. I'd expect to see one if not two of Floyd/Ward/Fontenot in the lineup, and perhaps all three if A-Ram sits out (please please please play today, thanks).
  13. We've done what we're supposed to do the past week or so; take 2 of 3 from bad teams, even if our own performance could be categorized as lackluster or less than ideal. First St. Louis, now San Francisco, and we still have Z for a chance at a sweep of the hapless Giants. I agree that A-Ram has to start hitting some HRs eventually, and that Soriano being ahead of schedule can only help our long-term outlook. One thing I fear is that with Floyd back, our power production will absorb a minor hit as Murton is more of a HR threat at this point and should be starting most days anyway.
  14. During tonight's (Wednesday's) broadcast WGN just showed Fonzie taking BP, running the bases, and taking some flyballs on the run. Said he and the team have Tuesday the 28th as the 'new' target date...which would be outstanding.
  15. Floyd looks pathetic against that curveball.
  16. Sounds like something from UHF, that old Al Yankovic flick.
  17. Gawd that ball was hammered. I guess we should feel lucky that only scored 1.
  18. For whatever it's worth, Jerry Blevins has struggled a bit for AA Midland since joining the A's system. 17 hits in 15.2 innings, 4.59 ERA, though his K:BB ratio is still excellent. His BABIP is .395, so I'm guessing most of it has just been bad luck.
