  1. Good work, Bob...now go learn how to throw a breaking ball for Pete's sake.
  2. What isn't a strike with this guy? This is ridiculous.
  3. How can a major league hitter honestly swing at that?
  4. We're struggling because we can't hit for power whatsoever. Over the past 30 days, the Cubs are 15th in the NL in SLG% - .398. That's just abonimable. We're behind such offensive juggernauts as the Astros, Giants, and Nationals. We're also T-14th in OBP over the past month at .325. The team in 15th (the D'backs) are at .324, so we're scraping the bottom of that barrel as well. 'Tweaking' our lineup to get more speed is just going to compound the fundamental problem that this lineup continues to struggle generating runs via XB hits, and on the rare occassions that it does, no one's on base. I keep harking back to the scuttlebutt we heard back in May when ESPN.com, the Tribune and maybe a few others reported that Lou was telling friends that the 'pieces just don't fit' with this team, despite it being a fairly deep and talented one. I don't think our hot June and July has really changed that.
  5. He's got the power. He's got the speed. He's got the touch...he's got the powwww-errrr http://films.estefanfilms.com/boogienights2.jpg
  6. Park and league-adjusted ERA. 100 is average. Anything above that would mean that relative to the park he pitches in, that player has performed above average.
  7. I'm not for replacing Marshall with Rain Delay in the rotation, but it's not like Sean's been blowing people away lately. Since the ASB, he has a 4.53 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 23 Ks:14 BBs. In August, he had a 6.18 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, and 13 Ks:9 BBs. Of course, the trouble is despite these very pedestrian numbers...he hasn't been appreciably less effective than either Marquis or Z. He doesn't give you the innings that either of those guys do, but that's more of a factor of his age and injury history than anything. At least presumably.
  8. Holy mismatch, Batman. Of course, Penny being a hard-throwing righty means we'll probably 'erupt' for 4 runs en route to a nailbiting 9-4 loss.
  9. The fans pay his salary through ticket sales, concession revenue, TV ratings, merchandise sales, etc. If we only thought about ourselves, there wouldn't be an MLB. But whatever. This doesn't have to be a big deal if the media just lets it die as they should. He pitched like crap and got booed a little, big deal.
  10. Lee with his second GIDP in 5 innings.
  11. Miller is pitching the 9th for the Stros. And no, I have no idea who that is.
  12. This is seriously terrible baseball. 2 errors. Horrendous pitching from our 'ace'. Mental errors (running through a stop sign). Looking like crap vs. a washed up AAA pitcher.
  13. Brenly openly questioning Ohman for throwing nothing but fastballs to a LH hitter. Can't argue with him.
