  1. I’m sorry, I just can’t get over the Poles extension. His draft record is absolutely deplorable, this is *still* a bottom 5 roster in the league, and we have multiple healthy scratches at positions of need.
  2. Yea I’m increasingly worried Caleb isn’t it. He holds onto the ball forever and every time they show a replay you can see guys open downfield.
  3. Can’t believe Boyd was still in the game. Was obvious to anyone watching that LA was squaring him up batter after batter and that he was no longer fooling anyone out there.
  4. Poles should 100% be gone and honestly, if he weren’t an interim HC with 1 game left, Brown should be as well. That was embarrassing.
  5. A complete and utter humiliation on national television on all levels. Total coaching malpractice, abominable clock management, and a clear-as-day display of how poorly this roster and coaching staff were constructed.
  6. Holy Jesus, fire them all into the sun.
  7. Yea, Ben Johnson ain’t coming here if there’s even remotely a better opening out there. I mean, would you?
  8. One step closer to 4-13.
  9. For what it’s worth, Joe Sheehan predicts the Cubs will win 96 games and be among the top 3 teams in all of baseball. So that’s something.
  10. Are there still Bears fans who think we should still just roll with Fields? If Stroud and Love this weekend doesn’t make it painfully obvious how far away we are at QB, not sure what will.
  11. Can’t wait to see the final numbers on this thing. Coming into the off-season, I was thinking something like 12 / $500 million with as many opt-outs as he wants, but it sounds like the deal may be much higher than that.
  12. If the Packers got the #1 pick and passed over Caleb Williams and Drake Maye to stick with a running QB who's thrown for 300 yards ONE TIME in 35 starts and fumbles a lot, we'd be laughing our heads off.
  13. Whether it’s Patrick Williams or Justin Fields, once Chicago sports fan has his mind up, the copium never stops flowing.
  14. The only team I think might reasonably snatch away the #1 pick from the Panthers (and ergo, the Bears) are the Patriots. They have a pretty rough schedule down the stretch and man oh man do they look bad. I'm fairly confident the Cardinals will scratch out another win somewhere. I could also see the Panthers stealing a game or two somewhere, between the interim coach "bounce" and having an NFC South-heavy schedule down the stretch.
  15. Yea, agree. Today's Ringer NFL podcast had a decent discussion of Fields and his potential trade value along the same lines.
  16. I definitely 100% think the screen passes are the coaches telling the world they don't think Fields can read the field or process what he's seeing quickly enough (a critique I think I largely agree with), but yea at least mix it up a little.
  17. I think I'm just at the point where, sure, Fields has his moments, probably still has some upside, and eventually could become a more dynamic Ryan Tannehill or "prime" Colin Kaepernick if he has the right scheme and is able to stay healthy. But I think we've seen enough to know he's not Hurts or Allen, and his rookie-scale contract is coming to an end such that he's about to get expensive no matter what. It is increasingly looking like the Bears will have the #1 overall pick in a draft with arguably 2 potential franchise QBs. That is an opportunity that doesn't come around often and, IMHO, Fields has not shown anything close to enough to justify passing on that opportunity--particularly with the fifth-year option decision only a year away. Again, I'm not a Fields hater or anything, and this entire organization is a complete tire fire such that I totally sympathize with criticisms of the coaches and scheme he's had to deal with, but if you polled all 32 NFL GMs I'd love to know how many would keep Fields (and pay him in a year) instead of taking Williams or Maye at #1.
  18. If package 2 included an extension for Soto, I’d give it some serious thought. But it just says “trade” for Soto.
  19. Do not love the Sweat trade. The player, particularly on an expiring deal, just isn't good enough to justify giving away a top-35 pick on behalf of a team whose most valuable assets are 1st round picks and, as such, become less valuable the more games we win. For Sweat, particularly seeing that there does not appear to be any extension in place, I just see too much risk that (i) he's not that great and nowhere near worth what we gave up for him, or (ii) he helps us grab an extra win in a year where an extra win basically does nothing for us and, in fact, probably hurts us by raising our draft position. The loss of our 2nd round pick only exacerbates that risk because our 2nd round pick could've been a vital asset in any effort to move up to 1 or 2 if needed and depending on where the final draft standings shake out (e.g., such as if we end up with picks 3 and 4 but really want Caleb, and thus need extra draft capital to try and move up). I also just don't love the organization even letting Poles and Eberflus make this trade to begin with (particularly without an extension). It reeks of letting Ryan Pace move up to take Fields. For all we know, Eberflus and/or Poles are gone this summer anyway and the next regime will be stuck in a situation where (i) Sweat remains (such as via the franchise tag) but they don't really want him for their scheme, etc., or (ii) Sweat walks in FA and now our new regime is kneecapped by not having a high 2nd round pick that was traded for basically nothing. To be clear, I don't hate it or anything, but this just doesn't seem that smart and the Washington Post article with all the anonymous quotes from other NFL GMs bashing this move doesn't make me feel a whole lot better.
  20. We literally are underdogs at home to a team that just lost by 50. It's impressive, honestly.
  21. CJ Stroud with 906 passing yards in his first 3 NFL starts, BTW.
  22. Apologies as I’m sure someone has posted this already, but I just need to be extra sure we’ve all watched the JT O’Sullivan video about last week (and specifically Fields): https://youtu.be/FiiK21VzI_o?si=CKq1tdz-FGVcNVs- Simultaneously the most depressing and hilarious thing I think I’ve ever seen.
  23. I put money on the Bears not hitting the season O/U (7.5 wins) and am kicking myself for not laying down more $.
