  1. Her reaction is priceless... she's like, "Look dad! I threw the ball like you taught me!"
  2. so what did Gomes do that makes him a douche?
  3. It's possible the dangler is inverted... there was a story I heard in one of my biology classes in college where this gal was playing softball in HS, and got hit in the crotch on a grounder... and her dinkus "fell" out...
  4. I'm assuming this means you're moving to a Linux/Apache server? Not that I could provide much help, but if you do need any, don't be afraid to holler.
  5. whatever uniform they wore last year for that throwback game on WGN... i loved those.
  6. I know that there are more problems than just his fielding (ie... hitting). I was wondering though, after that error yesterday that lead to a run scoring and the batter (can't remember who) ending up on 3rd, if there was a way to limit the damage caused by his errors? I know his fielding abilities at 2nd were never good, and could only be worse now, but would it lessen the effect of his errors if he was stuck there? Sure the errors would still cause damage (and there would be a lot more opportunity for them), but there's at least someone behind him to somewhat back him up. Maybe we can petition the league for 10 fielders so we can have someone back him up in LF? This is mostly in jest, but is there seriously a way we could lessen the damage caused by his lack of fielding sense?
  7. my brother emailed with the subject of "How to properly end a game you have no possible chance of (or desire to) winning:" and it only included this image: http://jms2k.com/junk/sorryahole.gif
  8. was this just to tick of HardcoreCubFan? I don't get ticked of or off, I am pretty laid back. Just so you know though, I agree that running is given a negative connotation because it is usually used as some form of punishment in other sports and classes. I also realize that some people just don't get "running" as a sport. It's a lot more than just an exercise, but not everyone is going to accept that. Didn't mean to hijack your thread!

  10. CitiField built on an ancient Indian burial ground, maybe? All they did was dig up the bodies, turn them over and pee on them...
  11. The offender: http://www.myspace.com/erikadavidonline
  12. Prior still wants to pitch: from mlbtraderumors.com
  13. Is it possible she's a hermaphrodite?
  14. how does this "gender test" work? TO me, it should be as simple as, "Drop 'em." Also, "she" is 100000% dude.
  15. Bolt ran hard the first 100 and cruised the 2nd 100 today in the 200 and finished with a time of 20.08.
  16. I already have a trip to Pittsburgh planned in September and have tickets to all 3 games... big mistake. I have tickets to one of the games in st. louis in september. I bragged earlier this year about how it was going to be great to stomp on st. louis' throats and kill their hopes of making the playoffs. looks like the jokes on me.
  17. I wasn't around during his days of pitching, but I seem to always hear stories of Bob Gibson not being afraid of drilling someone square in the back.
  18. I wonder what Bolt would do in a 400. I think he could easily dip into the 42.9x range, which is just mind blowing to me. Shoot, anything under 50 is amazing to me (never did get under, dangit!)
  19. also, how many HBP's are because the batter has more armor than an Abrams M1A2 tank. With all that armor, there's no need to get out of the way of the pitch. They just lean into them, ala Biggio.
  20. I agree! Headhunting is different from pushing people off the plate.
  21. yeah... i'm used to the old old days of phpbb. can't figure these new fangled things out.
  22. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/tom_verducci/08/18/stop.beanballs/index.html?eref=sihpT1 What do you think?
  23. He hasn't actually gone through with anything yet. Lou declares lots of plans right after games, and probably less then half of them are carried through, and the rest probably last a game or two. I fully expect Gregg to pitch in normal closing save situations in the relatively near future. I mostly agree with you, but he did finally take Soriano out of the lead-off spot. Granted it was about 2 seasons later than he should have been taken out. It wasn't 2 seasons too late because Soriano was very good the last 2 seasons. He was moved because he wasn't producing this season, not because of some ancient belief in what a leadoff hitter should be. I personally would have liked Soriano to have been a middle of the lineup guy from the get go, but at the same time, I can see arguments for him leading off when he was being productive.

  25. But how many of our picks actually turn into something? How many of the top picks? At the very least, any 1st/2nd round pick should hold trade value in the first couple years of their professional career. Even if they never become big leaguers, they can be assets. The key is not offering them no-trade clauses. How many of our recent 1st/2nd rounders have we given no-trade clauses to? I know Samardzija, but outside of him, I don't know. None. And while it doesn't matter for the sake of this argument, Samardzija was a 5th rounder. frick, I knew that too... I just had a brain fart.
