  1. is Zimmerman really a gold glove 3b? I thought earlier on in the year he was having all sorts of troubles fielding and throwing. Was I hallucinating?
  2. I was going to say that having an OF with Fukudome AND Granderson would hurt us pretty badly if people just throw lefties at us since neither can hit lefties very well... but then I looked at Fukudome's stats and he wasn't too far off from his states against RH (granted, I'm not a statistician). They numbers didn't look GREAT, but were better than Granderson's.
  3. do they mean April 2010 or 2011? Every time a Cubs pitcher has shoulder surgery, it seems to take 2-3x longer to recover than what they initially say.
  4. I love when a reporter asks a question and we don't get to hear it. Use the mic!
  5. Offer them Phillies WS tickets, apparently.
  6. looks like the interim has been removed from his title. I didn't see anything on ESPN about this move.
  7. Was it out of nowhere?
  8. Wouldn't you get to a point where you start guesses common names like "Jones"? I can't believe people miss ones like that That's essentially what I did. Cheating, perhaps. But it worked.
  9. btw, you only have to enter last names, so if you can't spell their first name, just try the last.
  10. 160. Got all of 2002-2009. "cheated" (ie. guessed) quite a bit and got Dwight Smith, Rondell White, Roosevelt Brown, Jacque Jones (don't know how I forgot him... oh yeah, that's right.). I jus tstarted typing in common last names and then colors. Some of these guys I haven't heard since the year they started: Damon Buford, Jose Nieves. That was a fun quiz.
  11. Oops. He forgot part of the hypothetical. As part of getting this GM job, you now look exactly like Jim Hendry. You're gonna need a yankees budget for that one.
  12. Because they should have all gotten into their delorians to see what happened in the future, duh!
  13. I would be insanely overjoyed if Detroit got so fed up with him that they traded him for Milton Bradley. If that's how Hendry gets out of this mess, all will be forgiven. Agreed. Even with the amount of douchebaggary that has occurred around Cabrera, it's still a fraction of that which follows Bradley around on a daily basis... AND he produces!
  14. it made it past the first hurdle of the bankruptcy process. the 2nd hurdle is the 13th.
  15. Didn't see this being talked about anywhere, but the guy has had an amazing weekend! Choking away the end of the season and then beating his wife. Oh, and he found a minute to counsel a 15 year old boy by telling the boy he was fat. Class act, I tell ya!
  16. From Cbssportsline.com Here's the mlb.com article, Gregg shut down as well. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090929&content_id=7228990&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc So does this mean Jake Fox will get some starts over there at third? Are you crazy? Why would Fox get any kind of playing time when you have prospective talent like Bobby Scales and Aaron Miles on the bench?
  17. Pat Burrell and Carlos Zambrano were seen charging the field from the stands last night and beating up a Royals first base coach while Peavy and Upton or Crawford were singing "Go Cubs Go."
  18. I feel lame... I've only been to Wrigley, GABP, Busch 2 and Busch 3... Granted, I haven't been alive for some of those (Busch 1)
  19. In the long run they're basically a wash. Yea 777 OPS to a 775 Ops, wow DeRo kicked his ass! Sits back and waits for the "but DeRosa has over 20 hr's and Bradley was brought you to be a run producer" crap. Well one plays multiple positions for a whole lot less money than the other. The comment was "DeRosa has been better than Bradley this year, the money is a non factor in that statement, and the multiple positions is a benefit, but it doesnt make the statement true. Statistically, they've been about even, but the expectations put on someone making $10million are going to be that much higher than that of someone making $5million (or whatever DeRo is making).
  20. who the heck is zambarno?
  21. Tyson Gay ties Usain Bolt's WR 100m time from the Olympics. Unfortunately, Bolt improved upon that by .11 seconds since then... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/more/09/20/gay.100.ap/index.html (also, great URL... gay 100. Sounds like an event during pride week.)
  22. Sorry, it was 93, after the Maddux debacle.
  23. I rooted for the Astros back in 1992 for about a week.
  24. Because there's a 1 percent chance they make the playoffs. So you're saying there's a chance? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2085/2079118961_08150e7b12.jpg
  25. Her dad's reaction is classy as well. I could picture some people getting mad at their kid for doing that. He just has a "OMG" expression, looks at her and hugs her.
