  1. I'm gonna go ahead and say that neither of those quotes is from the Canning group.
  2. Ichiro? No chance. He's only played here for 7 years. No chance? I think Ichiro is a lock if he retires tomorrow. He needs to play three more years to qualify. I had no idea. You have to play ten years?
  3. Ichiro? No chance. He's only played here for 7 years. No chance? I think Ichiro is a lock if he retires tomorrow. Why? He has 1600 hits. That's about half of what it typically takes to get in. He'll probably get in if he plays long enough, but I don't see any possible way he'd get elected if he retired tomorrow. They'll take into account that he was playing in Japan for a lot of the time. If Ichiro played his entire career in the states he'd probably break the all time hits record and the voters will know that. Yeah, he won't have compiled the gaudy compilation numbers, but I seriously doubt he doesn't make it on the first ballot. When you take into account his defensive reputation and the fact that he's so big internationally, I think he'll make it in fairly easily.

  5. Even if he retires in just a few years. I also wouldn't be surprised if Torii Hunter got a ticket to the Hall of Fame based merely on his reputation. I'm not saying he deserves it, because he obviously doesn't, but the media and writers LOVE Torii Hunter.
  6. Assuming Z doesn't continue the downward trend (which isn't necessarily a safe assumption), he'd have a real shot. I think Soriano will end up enshrined as well.
  7. Given how little there is connecting Sosa to steroids, I'd certainly hope he's not left out.
  8. And also, I'd say that Magglio Ordonez might have a shot if he hadn't basically missed two years. Heck, he might have a shot anyway. I don't think people realize the kind of career he's had.
  9. Oh man, I love seeing all the pictures that come out of spring training. Especially those of new Cubs.
  10. Mark Prior's BA factor is at 95195 simply because of that incident with Bonds. No amount of towel drills or vagina jokes can lower it. Also, the music sucks for the most part, but the Requiem for a Dream piece at the end was perfect.
  11. Even if Pujols was to retire today, I think he'd have to go in given the production he's had. Billy Wagner should also have a strong chance.
  12. I know that people aren't big on Colvin, but do we really want to give up him and Veal, two of our top ten prospects, for Brian Roberts?
  13. Please let Roberts be a Cub (or an Indian, or anything) soon. I want this to end.
  14. I see absolutely no chance Leiber isn't in the rotation unless he's hurt. Z-Lilly-Hill-Leiber-Marquis
  15. Super Bowl champion Eli Manning. What?
  16. I was at the Soriano walkoff two days earlier. I didn't think anything could ever top that. Just wish I was at this one too, because I had tickets and couldn't make it.
  17. This was running through my head in the shower. I realized I've seen quite a few, though I'm sure a lot of you have seen all of them... Put a W by the team if you saw them at Wrigley, and an X if you saw them somewhere else. ALW Los Angeles Angels X (Comiskey) Oakland Athletics WX (Wrigley, Comiskey) Seattle Mariners W Texas Rangers ALC Chicago White Sox WX (Wrigley, Comiskey, and Fenway) Cleveland Indians X (Comiskey) Detroit Tigers W Kansas City Royals X (Comiskey) Minnesota Twins X (Comiskey) ALE Baltimore Orioles X (Comiskey) Boston Red Sox X (Fenway, Comiskey) New York Yankees Tampa Bay Rays Toronto Blue Jays NLW Arizona Diamondbacks W Colorado Rockies W Los Angeles Dodgers X (Comiskey) San Diego Padres W San Francisco Giants X (Candlestick, AT&T Park) NLC Chicago Cubs WX (Wrigley, AT&T Park, Comiskey) Cincinnati Reds W Houston Astros W Milwaukee Brewers WX (Wrigley, Shea) Pittsburgh Pirates W St. Louis Cardinals W NLE Atlanta Braves W Florida Marlins W New York Mets WX (Wrigley, Shea) Philadelphia Phillies Washington Nationals W And for the heck of it... Montreal Expos W
  18. Eh, I don't think Hendry will like his lack of flexibility when it comes to moving around the field. He can play 1st base and the corner outfield positions, I doubt anything beyond that. It'd be nice to have another bat, but he'd basically be a second Daryle Ward.
  19. Keep saying it and maybe it will come true! We don't know either way.
  20. 58 was cool damn it. And seeing another 22 is going to be weird, as I was expecting Mark Prior to be the last Cub to ever wear that number.
  21. It's alright. Markakis is going to be coming our way as well.
  22. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/01/25/miller-probably-will-retire.aspx I don't think this has been posted here. I liked Miller in his brief time with the Cubs. He does, however, show how little the All Star Game means. It's unbelievable he actually made it.
