  1. 110 years ago, I might've said yes.
  2. Just call him butter, cause he's...... wait, no he's not. Come on Pie, stop sucking
  3. I don't wanna sound queer or nothin', but I think unicorns kick ass! Your avatar is.... groooovy.
  4. Doing this might allow people to jump the gun and do stupid things like "I'm tired of waiting for Jeff Samardzija to develop!" and next thing you know we got Flocks of Locks in our rotation
  5. I know this is a 360 vs. Wii discussion, butthe mention of going "old school" reminded me of this: Wii vs. PS3 vs. NES As for my opinion, I don't have either, but I want a 360 more than a Wii. Why? Because the 360 has Dead Rising, and nothing is cooler than killing zombies in a mall, modeled after one of the greatest horror flicks of all time, Dawn of the Dead. I'm kind of a zombie freak though, so take that with a grain of salt.
  6. Tombstone Stuffed Crust Pizza is a God amongst men
  7. That's true. But if he was a true gentleman of the sport as he's come to be considered over the span of his career, he would've congratulated Howard on a fine season rather that gripe about how he deserved it and Howard didn't. He's really ruining his image. First Glavine, now this? He's just being immature
  8. Well, for what it's worth, Varitek's first full year catching he had to deal with Wakefield and gave up 25 passed balls. And before that the Red Sox catchers that had to deal with Wakefield struggled. In '98 35 total PB, '97 36 total PB, '96 23 total PB, and '95 29 total PB. Perhaps it was first year jitters for Santiago catching a knuckleballer in '93 and first year jitters as a rookie. Regardless of all this (considering it's pretty much useless info), Santiago might make a nice backup somewhere, but is his arm out of steam? That's probably the only thing he's got going for him at this point I would assume, is his defense.
  9. Well, in 1993 he was on FLA catching Charlie Hough, so that's probably a reason why that's bad. Not sure if there were any knuckleballers on his Padres team where he had the 22 passed balls
  10. Compare Albert and Howard's post All-Star stats and that's likely the reason why people voted for Ryan Howard. Pujols was great the 2nd half of the season, but Ryan Howard was the BEST in all of baseball. Teams tend to need to rely on their key players toward the end of the year, and while Pujols played great, he actually played a worse than he did the first half, whereas Ryan Howard completely exploded his first half numbers after the AS Break. Like it's been said, in any other division the Cardinals wouldn't be in the playoffs, Howard sparked a team that proclaimed itself dead after at the trade deadline and finished with a better record than the Cardinals. Howards post AS stats: .355AVG 30HR 78RBI .509OBP .751SLG 1.259OPS Pujols post AS stats .344AVG 20HR 61RBI .427OBP .642SLG 1.068OPS Howard was an absolute hoss the 2nd half, which likely contributed to him winning the MVP over Pujols. When Bonds won his last MVP didn't Pujols say that he didn't care and all he cared about was winning the world series? Hmmmmmm
  11. I thought that ham was their weapon of choice in a fight. Ham would be an excellent weapon. it would be kind of slippery, though Not with Nippon Ham Grips! Nippon Ham Grips are ©2006 Nippon Ham, Inc.
  12. Well there lies a dilemma. If we were to sign Piazza, which obviously won't happen, it'd have to make Barrett expendable. Why have 3 catchers on the team, 2 of which are such similar offensive-threats-with-poor-defense guys? It'd mean the other has got to go. And I'd rather keep Barrett than Piazza. But it'll never happen so it's not much to worry about. I'm actually kind of surprised Piazza is still holding up after all these years, his production would be nice to have, especially off the bench, but Piazza doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd sign a backup/bench contract.
  13. Every time I hear his name I can't stop thinking of V For Vendetta. "We are being buried under the avalanche of your inadequacies, Mr. Crede!" Other than that. Crede's nothing to gawk at, but he's not someone you should take for granted either. Good player. I've only seen him overrated by White Sox fans though... and hated mostly by Yankee fans, only because he won the Silver Slugger and A-Rod didn't, which I find amusing that they'll stick up for A-Rod winning the Silver Slugger but will lynch him the moment he steps up to the plate
  14. Maybe he inhereted the nickname HOF in Arizona after he poorly tried to imitate Star Wars lingo using ebonics... Or not. You never know.
  15. Actually I said Wells has 20SB potential, I never said he stole 20SB. Well yeah, that's a no-brainer. I wasn't suggesting Wells is a better power hitter than Jones. I'd have to be on crack to think that. Wells has also been in the majors for 5 less years. Jones is a seasoned veteran who has been playing a lot longer than Wells has. Despite Wells being a year and a half or so younger, Wells obviously is a lesser player all around than Jones. Jones was hitting his 30HR 100RBI stride before he turned 24. There's only a handful of players to be able to do that (Miguel Cabrera comes to mind). Wells may fit the more prototypical major leaguer who won't hit is stride until he reaches his 28 year old prime, which may be next year. I was simply suggesting that if that were the case, then I think Wells could have potential for 40HR and 20SB, and that since he's already arrived as a perenial gold glover that he may not be much different than Jones in the long run.
  16. Yes, but Jones was cut from a different mold than Wells, he was great from the very beginning, when he was 21, and he didn't truly unleash his power potential until 2005, the year he turned 28, the start of his prime years. Wells had an outstanding year last year, and stole more bases than he's ever stole in a single season, and he will be 28 next year. It's not out of line to think that Wells has 40HR and 20SB potential in him (Jones lost his SB ability years ago). Plus, Wells is a career .280 hitter with RISP, Jones .256, not to mention a career .288 hitter period, while Jones is a career .267 hitter I'm not saying Jones is or isn't better, what I'm trying to get at is they're both very similar in regards to talent. Both are young and entering/in their prime, both are big power threats, perenial gold glovers. Wells, in my opinion, is the better hitter. He has more potential to hit .300 each year than Andruw Jones does hitting .280. As far as trading for Wells, I don't think it can be done, especially after they resigned Greg Zaun. Had they let Zaun go, they would've needed a catcher, and they never had a set SS last year, and their bullpen was atrocious. Only way to get Wells from them probably would've been Barrett, Izturis, Eyre/Howry, and Pie. That'd be too much for me
  17. There are worse ones as well. *COUGH* Neifi Perez *COUGH*
  18. That's all nonsense, tomfoolery, and poppycock. I heard he hit for the cycle and called a perfect game without the use of an infield or outfield, and also drove in the winning grand slam using "ghost runners" on all bases.
  19. A little more indepth: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/wires/11/28/2010.ap.bbn.cubs.soriano.0392/
  20. I agree with this, but it wouldn't hurt to see if they nibble at the bait. Are the D-Backs even shopping Tracy?
  21. I agree. If they're willing to part with one of them for someone like Chad Tracy, they should be willing to part with them for Jones. If Gary Matthews can get $50MM for hitting .318-19-79-10, Jacque Jones would've gotten $80MM for .285-27-81-9 His $4MM he's due to make next year might look pretty attractive to a lot of clubs who missed out on one of the big FA outfielders this year.
  22. Well we did kind of hose them in the Ramirez trade, so it's likely they may not want to trade much with the Cubbies after that
  23. First post here. Hi. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6165654 Snippet: I've been mulling a Jones to Pirates possibility ever since I read that. Jones would be a huge upgrade over Burnitz (HA!), and if they're that desperate perhaps they'd give up one of their young pitchers if we package Jones in a deal with one of our expendable ones. Perhaps Ian Snell (fingers crossed).
