  1. yeah its absurd. they have Top 2000 2007 HS Prospects Top 100 2008 HS Prospects Top 100 2007 College Prospects Top 100 2008 College Prospects and for each of the hs classes through 2010 they have top prospects sortable by state.
  2. pgcrosschecker's 2007 top hs player is porcello. jason heyward is number 2. they have a top 2000 list for 07 HS players with scouting reports i believe. too bad it costs $200 a year to get it :(
  3. a .330 babip isn't that surprising. he's super fast. id expect that an additional 10-15 hits over a full season are infield hits most guys dont get. that makes up the difference.
  4. Hitters are much more likely to be able to sustain their babip. Rocco's minor league BABIP for his career was .338. Rocco's major league BABIP for his career is .333. His .338 BABIP this season is probably not to far above his ability. The big deal with him was his increased power. Still can't walk though.
  5. Chris Antonetti or Paul DePodesta There are no other options.
  6. I don't think he was saying those were the only ones, just the sure things.
  7. Jon Garland is trash and I would be delighted if the Astros traded for him.
  8. the problem is jim hendry seems to be making sure guzman doesnt have a rotation spot. so we're going to have to pray for the inevitable injuries to Prior/Miller and I guess Lilly now. Even though the results weren't there it wasnt hard to see how far his changeup progressed over the course of the season trying to get it back to the dominant pitch it was in 03.
  9. id trade the farm for jake peavy. hes better than zambrano.
  10. He is like four years away from free agency and he has had shoulder problems in the past. He has however won two Sawamura Awards and does have a nice sinking fastball.
  11. Jose Macias has probably made more than Babe Ruth did in his entire career
  12. Finally, the annual Cubs - Orioles trade gets done. I was getting worried.
  13. Wards a solid hitter as long as hes not facing lefties. It's a nice move IMO.
  14. its pretty simple. izturis sucks a lot more than he does.
  15. people still look at win loss record for pitchers?
  16. Yeah we signed a utility infielder so we can move one of our better prospects to another position. Brilliant. Gotta love how Jim Hendry's not held responsible for his actions as closely as he should. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-061204cubs,1,1236144.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Oh and then the article goes on to talk about how the Cubs are excited to have two 40 stolen base threats at the top of the lineup in a few years in Pie and Patterson to go along with Soriano. I'm so thrilled. I hate ignorant people.
  17. I've taken the liberty of rearranging the last three years of Marquis and Comparing them to Jennings. Marquis is always first ERA+ 113 127 103 94 73 92 K:BB 1.97 1.67 1.45 1.21 1.28 1.32
  18. He's better than any of the 2nd tier FA's and he'll only cost 5.5M. I dont know of anyone better we could get for Jones. He's coming off of a career year and he's way under market value, I would think we could get more for him, but then the pitching market is very tight as well, and if it's a choice between this trade and Lilly or Meche for 4/44 or up, I'm taking this trade. This trade is a lateral movement more than anything. We're not any better after making it than we were before. It really doesn't help us and is not improving us significantly - if at all.
  19. I dont understand why anyone wants Jason Jennings. He's not good. His career WHIP away from Coors is over 1.40. No thanks.
  20. can we get some chris nelson with that? they dont need him and a move to another system may give some moore magic to the cubs acquistions
  21. why dont we make a phone call for chris snelling? seattle seems to be in a giving mood.
  22. i really dont think it was bait. you strike me as a person who would back someone up for their clutch 'ability.'
  23. Adam Dunn is a career .319/.475/.766/1.241 hitter in extra innings! Oh My God: NOT CLUTCH Adam Dunn has a career OPS of .911 in 'close and late' situations which is higher than his OPS and none close and late situations. Oh My God: NOT CLUTCH Adam Dunn's career OPS when the game is tied is higher than his career OPS overall. Oh My God: NOT CLUTCH Adam Dunn's career OPS when the game is within one run is higher than his career OPS overall. Oh My God: NOT CLUTCH Adam Dunn's career OPS when the game is within two runs is higher than his career OPS overall. Oh My God: NOT CLUTCH Adam Dunn's career OPS when the game is within three runs is higher than his career OPS overall. Oh My God: NOT CLUTCH Good call on that statement.
  24. mike maroth's terrible. He's essentialy estes 03
