  1. I didn't want to make a new topic out of this, so I guess this is the best place to post it. A few days ago I mentioned something about the reports on Gallagher's MPH, BaseballProspectus' last Future Shock column says that he has sat 90-93 all season long. Goldstien seems to be quite high on him.
  2. Marmol went 57 innings before he allowed a HR, that's nice considering he had problems with them, relatively, last season.
  3. drafting for floors would be like drafting potential setup men all draft...that surely wont win anything.
  4. For anyone who cares. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f189/kctigers23/Jae-kukRyu001.jpg
  5. Paraphrasing: - 70 power (on 80 scale) - good body - plus on all five tools - decent plate discipline - good pitch recognition - has problems with outside pitches - very good arm, but some scouts see him as a future LF/1B.
  6. Hasn't Sean gotten that velocity up to 90-91, consistently, this season?
  7. Snider and Rowell also have a good approach at the plate, contrary to most of the Cubs top flight power projects. Snider's supposedly on JP Riccardis short list, which is almost unheard of because hes an HS bat.
  8. I heard the rumor on the Internet first. I live in the area and have heard them off the Internet from people close to the TWH team. As for Kiker, I think it's that he's a animated pitcher and is prone to mood swings, a lot like Z. Not sure on that though.
  9. The top 200 are now posted, with scouting reports. They also have their draft tracker (no sub.). Yeah the Cubs draft a lot out of VCU. VCU has a couple top 10 round players this year, ditto for next season. The big name in Virginia these days is Sean Doolittle, with good reason. As long as there is not another power hitter coming from Dunedin High School, I think we'll be okay. We've got to that well three times and drawn three blanks if you include Jimbo.
  10. You're onto something there. Yes I know it was batting practice off a machine, but he lets his hips and front shoulder fly open like a dead-pull hitter. He might have been trying to put on a home run show, but he didn't look very polished to me because he didn't try to take any of the pitches to the left field. I want to know if he can cover the plate on the outer half because minor league pitchers can exploit that weakness rather easily, just ask Ryan Harvey.
  11. It seems to be that way, especially the way David Price has faltered the last month or so. His ERA has gone up over a run his last few outings. He's really struggled since that 17 strikeout performance against Arkansas. IP H K W ER 2/17 4.2 5 7 5 5 (vs #9 San Diego) 2/22 1.0 0 3 0 0 (vs Tennessee Tech)* 2/24 6.0 4 9 1 1 (vs Pittsburgh) 3/3 8.0 5 10 2 2 (vs Ball State) 3/10 7.0 4 15 1 1 (vs Brown) 3/17 7.0 5 10 2 1 (vs Ole Miss) 3/24 9.0 1 11 2 0 (vs Auburn) 3/31 8.0 5 13 0 0 (vs #15 Florida) 4/5 1.0 1 2 1 1 (vs Austin Peay)* 4/7 8.0 3 17 4 1 (vs #12 Arkansas) 4/14 5.2 8 7 3 5 (vs #25 Georgia) 4/22 6.1 10 4 1 8 (vs #11 Alabama) 4/28 6.0 10 9 3 4 (vs #13 Kentucky) 5/5 3.1 9 3 2 8 (vs Tennessee) 5/10 2.0 0 2 0 0 (vs Lipscomb) 5/13 7.0 4 8 5 2 (vs LSU) 5/19 7.0 4 9 6 4 (vs #17 South Carolina) 5/25 7.0 6 8 1 1 (vs #23 South Carolina) * relief appearanceI talked to a scout friend of mine in the middle of April and he said that there was a chance that Price develops into a lefty version of Prior over the next year. He's really struggled with his command since. Sure it's a tougher schedule, but still he should be able to do a little better. If he falters more then fine. The Cubs will probably end up picking 5-10 next season and he might be there for the Cubs depending on who his agent is. It's almost like I want him to sign with Boras so we can get him. If Stock and Price are gone, there is still a lot of talent next year. I am a big fan of JP Arencibia and a healthy Joe Savery myself. I'd love for the Cubs to walk out of 2007 with Arencibia in the top 10. He's going to be very advanced and handles pitchers well. Now if only someone can teach Jim Hendry the concept of stockpiling picks, not giving them up...
  12. They have Scherzer going to the Rangers don't they? He's the guy I want if he falls.
