  1. Brackman is a lot like Samardzija in development. He's very very raw. I really don't see the Cubs drafting pitching even if Wieters is gone. They'll probably do what they usually do when they have a top pick: Blow it out on some raw powerful, but no plate discipline Florida high school outfielder: Michael Burgess from Hillborough HS.
  2. You'll see me at other places under the name Ienpw, Krish, Krishna and this.
  3. Metal Bats matter a lot. Jamshots off the handle of a metal bat wind up as singles, but broken bats with a woody.
  4. There's nothing wrong with what Peavy did. Obviously him not wasting his time to move his car would have been worth more than the ticket. He has the money.
  5. The Halos added a bat since that happened. Figgins sucks, I don't understand why anyone wants him.
  6. Rivals.com Big XII Preview Auburn (Rivals) [/url]
  7. Maybe it was unofficial, but I thought I saw it somewhere which is why I didn't keep a spot for him. I forgot about the guy we got for Fast Freddy though.
  8. I thought Holliman and Johnson were moved to the pen.
  9. It's Muskat, but take it for what it's worth. Prior...on mound...February? It's too optimistic to be true, but oh well. Worth pointing out.
  10. Call me a bad person, but I secretly want Samardzija to get hurt tomorrow. :(
  11. working the count to get a good pitch>walking>swinging at the first pitch If that were the case then guys who walk and strike out a lot should have the highest LD%s. Last season LD% and (BB+SO)/PA had an r of -0.06157, so nope on that one. BB/PA? 0.06227. So really no.
  12. http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=228&p=2&c=603236 Free article with a paragraph on about fifteen prospects.
  13. Has anyone run through the 07 assignments for the Cubs? I was thinking of the pitchers Iowa 1. Angel Guzman 2. Sean Marshall 3. Jae-kuk Ryu 4. Juan Mateo 5. Randy Wells Carlos Marmol closing? Ryan O'Malley anywhere? Tennessee 1. Sean Gallagher 2. Donald Veal 3. Chris Shaver 4. JR Mathes 5. Adam Harben Grant Johnson and Mark Holliman closing? Daytona 1. Mitch Atkins 2. Scott Taylor 3. Mark Prior 4. Justin Berg 5. Carlos Perez Jeremy Papelbon closing? Peoria 1. Mark Pawelek 2. Darin Downs 3. Jose Ceda 4. Jake Renshaw 5. Mike Billek Boise 1. Chris Huseby Im sure I left off someone. Samardzija in Daytona around May of course.

  16. Everyone should know that Sheets is a top five starter when he's healthy and is better than Zambrano. I believe he became the first pitcher in history with 100 IP, a K/IP greater than 1 and a BB/9 less than 1 last season.
  17. He sure has fallen off the map the last few seasons after those two great years.
  18. http://perfectgame.org/stories/06%5F12%5F29%5Fhighlights%5Fnational%5Funderclass/ From the PGN National Underclass. They had a couple 09ers touch 90.
  19. It's a looong ways until the 2007 draft as far as slotting goes, and even longer for the 2008 draft. The 08 HS class is supposed to be pretty top heavy as well, I believe.
  20. Smoak is a much better hitter than Wieters. He was ahead of Wieters in BA's CCL Top 30. Wieters was third I believe. Smoak and Alvarez? That's a tough one. I found a LOT of previews for teams, Ill link them all soon. Quite a few are Rivals subscriptions that i dont have, some of you college football recruiting gurus might though.
  21. I like Brackman myself. Big tall righty who is relatively raw and still great. Now that he is only on baseball he could really be special.
  22. walking is better than making contact.
  23. about the whole a hit is better than a walk nonsense, some people should do some math. OPS = OBP + SLG. An additional hit adds some to OBP and SLG, an additional walk adds some to OBP, and since a hit = walk in OBP, then any function x * OBP + y * SLG where x and y > 0 will have hit > walk overall.
