  1. Oh boy. That's either a nasty knee or hamstring injury.
  2. he's young. will pierre have a bunt hit this year? He has one, I believe, but only because the first base ump decided to give it to him. And Bob, his bunts have been horrible since the start of spring.
  3. Yeah. There's not much you can do in terms of footwork on a pitch like that. You just have to sling it offbalance.
  4. Despite Pagan's speed, he's only been a good base stealer in 2004. Other than that, he's been pretty bad. Just 27 for 42 (64%) last year at AAA.
  5. They needed a bullpen arm and couldn't afford to send down a bat with Jones out. Wuertz is a bullpen arm. He threw 15 pitches yesterday, after not pitching for the 2 previous games. But they'll likely need a guy who can go today and tomorrow with Williams and Rusch starting. The bullpen is down from 7 pitchers to 6 and they're not well-rested. I swear Novoa had a 2 inning outing in the past day or two. Also, Jimmy Fallon needs to get off my TV. Well then that would be downright nutty. Pagan with a terrible jump.
  6. Wouldn't have been in this situation if Dusty let Marshall pitch the 6th.

  8. Sweet! Any word on his stuff? We've been hearing that it's better than it has been since 03. I really hope that's the case. Nope. Hopefully we'll get more of an update during the WGN telecast. If he's at 51 pitches right now, I don't see him pitching in more than one additional simulated game. If they were particularly impressed, maybe even just a side session and then a rehab assigment.
  9. Left-handed protection for A-Ram...duh. ;) Why does Aram's left hand need protection ????? Z keeps challenging him to games of bloody knuckles.
  10. Could it be that Dusty is just trying really hard this year not to move the lineup order around too much? I haven't been able to come up with any other reason as to why Pagan bats in Jones' spot.
  11. According to WGN Radio, Wood threw 51 pitches today and felt fine.
  12. If true, that sucks. But I don't see how they could be really that far off if they spent that much time negotiating in person.
  13. Makes sense. Novoa would be able to give them more innings than Aardsma and a move was desperately needed, regardless of Wuertz's outing last night.
  14. Cheerleaders are just another example of teams showing no respect to the actual baseball fans who go to games. The marketing departments of these teams only care about getting families through the gates, not getting them to watch the game. That's why they send the women off for free massages or makeovers (see Miller Park) and the kids into playgrounds (see a bunch of stadiums). They care about parking, food sales, beverage sales, and ticket sales, not enhancing the baseball experience. That's why jumbotrons are used for horrible contests and giveaways between innings and never to actually show replays. Baseball stadiums are becoming far less baseball fan friendly. I never really noticed that until I went to the GABP and Miller Park. I was really surprised when the Brewers actually told women to stop watching the game and go get a free massage in the concourse. Now, not so much. They think people need to be constantly entertained by flashy, noisy stuff whenever there's even a slight break in the action. It's sad. Just another reason why Wrigley is amazing.
  15. Was anybody watching the game during this innings? The milb boxscore says that Zinter's HR was inside-the-park. Sounds funky to me. Zinter is going to be 38 in a month! Not exactly a speed demon. Coats was in RF. ground out single infield single K inside-the-parker K That was a mistake. Gameday said it was an inside-the-park HR, but it still correctly showed the ball being crushed to right. It was a regular HR.
  16. There are countless reasons why that would never work, including the hit to the team's spring training home's economy and the inability to get minor leaguers as needed/send them to minor league camp. It's far too impractical.
  17. It is sad. They must think they'll help distract people from the lack of pitching. http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060405/capt.ohab10904052045.cubs_reds_baseball_ohab109.jpg
  18. 6'3'' 175 and no arm. I think I could stand in againt a pitcher in a simulated game.
  19. I don't think there's much of a point in comparing Prior and Hernandez as prospects. Mark showed what he could do at college and had only 9 minor league starts before joining the big league rotation for good. Felix, on the other hand, was 17-years-old during his first minor league season and started 48 times before being called up last year. They were kinda at the opposite ends of the top pitching prospect spectrum.
  20. Angel's control still doesn't appear to be 100%. It won't happen, but I wouldn't mind seeing Hill start Sunday with Rusch going to the bullpen.
  21. Bulls win! And Gordon ties the record by going 9 for 9 from beyond the arc. Wow. And his 9th won it.
