  1. Griffey's out with soreness in the back of his right knee.
  2. Well, just look at his career stats... ...and you'll see that he's never had power from either side of the plate. If he made a deal with the devil, he most likely would've gotten it for both sides.
  3. Prior regained most of the pop on his fastball when he started throwing again, which is why it looks like he's not that far behind Wood. Burns would've gotten booed after throwing out the first pitch.
  4. If he would have went back fast then Hatteberg would have pry tagged him. Lee is crafty. It looked like he had an opportunity to get back really fast behind Hatteberg's back. Even when Lee was right near first, he didn't just quickly stick his foot out to get back. I doubt he realized what was going on.
  5. By the way, what was Lee thinking? I've seen little old ladies walk faster than the when Lee was going back to first.
  6. Umm, tag Lee, Hatteberg! HAHAHA. Nice job.
  7. Stellar defense by the Reds so far. That was an ugly E3.
  8. Commercial  Details plz!!! :P I meant how did Greg bunt into a DP? What did Neifi do? Maddux popped the bunt up just enough for the pitcher to come in to catch it. Since Neifi wasn't looking, it was an easy throw to first to double him up. What a breaking ball.
  9. The wind may hurt some balls hit to left, but they're going to be flying out to right today.
  10. I'd prefer Mabry to start at third. Not gonna happen with a lefty on the mound. Mabry's splits against lefties, although limited, are actually pretty close to his splits against righties, though.
  11. Pagan will start in right tomorrow, according to the Trib, and Neifi at third if Ramirez can't go.
  12. Ramirez left the game because of soreness in his glut after a swing.
  13. I would guess what the players have to say is far more important than the opinion of people on a message board. The players know who is a good manager and who is a bad manager. It really is no surprise why people who work in baseball have such a low regard for most message boards. I truly doubt that there ever has been decision made in baseball based on the opinions expressed on any message board. How many players would actually publicly discuss their true feelings of their manager or share them with their GM? And let's not forget that individual players are going to place how their manager treats them as a higher priority than how well he can manage an entire 25-man roster.
  14. I am sure he is yes. I know it has sort of become a joke in the Cubs organization, but the towel drill is a very important drill for pitchers to work on keeping their mechanics in line. Is there any data on that or is this a new thing that looks good? All things being equal (i.e., no arm troubles), I'd just as soon a pticher pitch. I'm not sure how many pitchers actually use it. I've only seen Prior and a few pitchers for Cuba do it during the WBC. But the towel drill is just a simple, short activity of snapping a towel against someone's glove to get mechanics in line for a few minutes just before throwing. It doesn't take the place of throwing. It does nothing in terms of building up strength or endurance. For what it's worth:
  15. Rusch has a 5.05 ERA as a starter between 2003 and 2005 and a BAA near .300. If he gets bumped, though, the pitching staff likely goes up to 12 and we lose a bench player. He'd be going to the bullpen It would also be beneficial for the Cubs to see Guzman vs. big league hitting for a month or a little less before Wade Miller is set to be activated. They need to figure out what to do with Wade and Guzman should be a large part of that decision.
  16. The bad news is that the wind is supposed to be blowing out to right at close to 20 mph. The rain, if there is any, should mostly be gone by gametime, though.
  17. Especially since he'll be starting for Rusch next game. Williams is joining the rotation in the 5th spot on April 15th. We're still stuck with Rusch, who's scheduled to go again on the 16th. What do you think the odds are that Guzman gets the call up to pitch for Rusch? About zero. Angel has only had one start and despite pitching effectively, he was anything but efficient in the first two innings. I'm guessing Hill is more likely for now, but I don't see any changes in the immediate future.

  19. Wood: Prior:
  20. Strained right hammy for Jones.
  21. Jones pulled a neck muscle from looking up so much.
  22. They nearly picked off one of the Nashville coaches last night.
