    The Cubs might've sent down Wuertz after today regardless. With just 6 in the 'pen and no long relief, they'll need an arm with Williams and Rusch pitching this weekend.

    Wood's simulated game will be 15 pitches in each of the three innings, according to Cubs.com. Prior threw 40 pitches today and will throw three innings of 15 pitches in a session tomorrow. Miller threw 40 pitches today, as well.

    I may or may not have edited in that first K. 1-2-3 3rd inning for Guzman and 2 more Ks. He's got 5. 42 pitches through 3.

    You know it. Guzman strikes out two in the second, but gives up an unearned run on a groundrule double followed by a stolen base/throwing error on Soto. 28 pitches through 2. Pie is 0-2 after a 3-2 strikeout.

    People might have gone for cover with the rain coming down. Maybe. If I had those seats, a little rain would not run me away. There's not much of a point to paying luxury price seating, though, when the sections right by it are a lot cheaper. The rain should end pretty soon. If there's more later, it's going to be brief.
