  1. Barrett is unavailable and Mabry will be the last bat off the bench since he's the emergency catcher. Letting Guzman bat here is the right move whether he's being taken out or not.
  2. I don't really want Guzman back on the mound. Even if Blanco is retired, though, it's too early to use a bat off the bench.
  3. Guzman hasn't regained all of his control yet. Better than where he was in the AFL, but he's still had a lot of long 3-ball counts this year. The strike zone he got in the 2nd never really came back.
  4. Nice slide by Murton, by the way.
  5. That's a break. But yeesh, Jerry.
  6. Swings at the first pitch out of the zone. Ugh.
  7. DJAXX did a great job with the interview. It really gives a nice sense of how a young pitcher might work with a certain pitch. Thanks, Sean!
  8. Could be worse for a catcher if it was a different finger. Hopefully two days off will be enough time.
  9. Dude. You are really on the ball with the Guzman banner and the Z quote. Nice work. It would be a crime to not have that quote in my sig. A crime.
  10. Yuck. Got the curve he wanted...the pitch before.
  11. Fuld started slow last year, then tore it up the rest of the summer. Looks like he's doing the same this year....only his slow start was shorter than last years. I like it! I'm thinking that Daytona needs to play at 10:30am every day if Sam can keep up days like that! Seriously, though, he had a tough April/May last year because he was coming off of shoulder surgery he had after the college world series...that's why he didn't play in Boise in 2004. He hadn't played in a while, if I remember right. He has a lot of good baseball sense...*and* an econ degree from Stanford. A good head on the shoulders goes a long way, I think. :) Karen Centerfielders with econ degrees from Pac-10 schools are cool. 8) Nerd. (Not you, Sam)
  12. Gets out of it on a worse curve ball than the HR pitch. Keep that fastball down, Angel.
  13. Ease up a bit and let the sinker work, Angle.
  14. Yeah, a left it up a bit. Guzman threw 95 pitches in his last start with Iowa (4/19). He's not going to throw that many today, though.
  15. I think it's the img tags instead of the url tags... Haha. Sorry! Yes, img tags. and. Or you can highlight the address and click the "img" buttong above the text box. Too late...he's off fruitlessly trying to figure out why his /url tags won't work. Don't you feel ashamed... :P I'll apologize when I'm darn well ready. Looks like I picked the right half-inning to take a shower.

  17. no real wind today. they just weren't far enough. It's blowing out to right and a little left to right at 7-10 mph right now. A little cooler than it looks on TV, too. Swirling at times, though. Jon, how did you put the lovely photo of Guz in your signature? I can't seem to figure out how to put photos in the signature....help? Just put the address between two url tags. The first one is [ url] and the last is [ /url], but without the spaces.

  19. Nice contact by Matt. He turned on that nicely, just didn't elevate it.
