  1. Hoffpauir's SLG% is pushing .700. Yikes!
  2. If that's the case, then why come up with the underarm discomfort? Just flat out say that Woody didn't feel like pitching after his buddy died. If anyone slams him for that, they have issues. Concocting an arm injury story only fans the flames. the cubs media relations are truly horrible if this rumor is true. Why? That's none of our business. And it's not like they said that he was delayed because of an arm-related issue. If this was a factor, I'm guessing it was a combination of the two. Yeah, but if that was the case and he was just too broken up to pitch, then tell us he had the stomach flu or something. Don't tell us he had a problem with his arm, no matter how small it may be. We've heard enough about arm/shoulder problems to last us a lifetime. Again, though, it wasn't an arm issue. It was under the arm. And they probably didn't just make it up if all of this is true, rather they just used it as the reason. It also may be the case that Wood used that as a reason himself when talking to Rothschild. It's all speculation, but it's not like the Cubs lied about a shoulder issue.

  4. I've certainly seen or heard that at least hinted at from a few sources. I believe Santo mentioned the other day that it might have something to do with it. At the very least, he was supposedly pretty upset. And rightfully so. I'm guessing the issue of changing around his schedule the past couple of days and his game against the minor leaguers in Mesa early next week not really being set at this point is because of the funeral and other related matters.
  5. That's only effective if you look like this: http://www.simpsonspark.com/images/whitepages/ado_boutonneux.jpg MLB umpires should have a boy who cried wolf policy.
  6. 2-pitch groundout, 4-pitch walk, 4-pitch flyout, 2-pitch single, 3-pitch flyout. Not bad.
  7. A fitting end to the series. Cubs win!
  8. Who knows. Hill should be the one getting the start right now. Of course, I sure as heck hope they decided on that Wednesday spot before the move was made. I won't be happy if they disrupted Guzman and then brought Hill up for Wednesday. Those HR are really the only significant difference between Guzman and Hill to this piont; In all other aspects each is doing very well. The question is whether or not Angel's tendency give up gopher balls is something we should be worried about, and I don't think it is just yet. Angel actually looks like he's doing a better job of keeping the ball down than Hill at this point, giving up fewer fly balls (34.2% FB% for Guzman, 35.0% for Hill) and getting more grounders (42.1%/40.0%). Those extra 3 HR may just be a product of pitching conditions or other factors rather than a real advantage Hill has over Guzman. Well, there wasn't a wind blowing in his last start. He also gave up a double and a triple in his rough first, but I'm not necessarily worried about that. I do think that when you combine his ERA with other factors (specifically his history), though, that it's cause to keep him in the Iowa rotation. I'd like to see him get up to speed before making his debut and cut down on those lengthy ABs. With 3 starts each (I think), the only real difference between Hill and Guzman is their ERA. The GOs, FOs, Ks, and BBs are all basically the same. But I'd rather Guzman stay on schedule and make his starts right now so he can work through this. Hill's control seems pretty good right now for what we can expect from him. Angel, on the other hand, will have better control when he's really going strong.
  9. WALKER... ...better not sit more than a day against the three lefties in the Marlins series.
  10. Ah, finally some good music! To go along with a good shortstop.
  11. Another XBH for Ronny! Shoulda bunted.
  12. Well that was a bad bunt. Let's bunt again here.
  13. Iowa 2rd: -Padgett Walks -McGehee doubles, Padgett out at home -Sing flies out -Fontenot RBI double -Kopitzke RBI single -Valdes double -Pie walk -Theriot lines out to right 3-2 Round Rock.

  15. Hopefully Maddux can start to keep the ball down.
  16. Maddux not showing the necessary control in the early going.
  17. Pie flies out to left on a 2-1 pitch, I believe.
  18. I'm sure I was beaten, but it was the second pitch. First pitch was low for a ball. Ramirez will GIDP Ah, thanks.
  19. Three lefties in the Marlins series makes me sad.
  20. I like first-pitch triples more than first-pitch groundouts.
