  1. $20 tickets through my dorm for Sunday but I don't think I can make it. I'm pretty swamped with finalizing my senior thesis, doing a project, and then doing a takehome midterm. Bah. Well, doesn't even matter. Just got an email they sold out after just getting an email saying they were available.
  2. He'll be there for this year and next, if my memory is correct. I'm pretty sure he signed a 3-year contract, which seemed pretty odd at the time.
  3. According to WGN Radio, Wood will throw 4 innings against minor leaguers in Mesa on Tuesday. His rehab assignment could start after that (as in a week from Saturday). Prior threw 40 pitches on Wednesday and will throw 3 innings and hopefully 60 pitches in his next batting practice. If he gets up to 60 pitches next time out, I'd imagine he'd throw to minor leaguers in a game situation in Mesa like Wood is doing.
  4. Pie with a nice 8-pitch AB, but he flies out to left filed on the 3-2. About 25 feet in front of the wall. I-Cubs lose 3-2.
  5. Fontenot draws a 2-out walk in the 9th with the bases empty. Felix up, I-Cubs down 3-2.
  6. And now Walker with the technical. I sure hope Shaq fouls out before the night is done, as well. And Haslem gets the technical.
  7. This thing is heating up! A few non-calls and Posey with a totally uncalled for flagrant foul. Buh bye.
  8. 91-71 beatdown.
  9. And it all started on the error. Mathes was doing a pretty nice job before that.
  10. It's a baseball bat, though. If you throw it hard and throw it at someone, how is there not intention to harm? The bat was even still on it's way up when it hit the ump.
  11. After seeing the video on ESPN, I don't think that's what happened. I couldn't see Young himself, but it looked like it probably hurt the bat more than the umpire. He hardly even flinched. Because it hit him in the chest protector right after he turned around. That would have really, really hurt if it hit him in the side, back, head (even with the helmet), or leg. I think it's pretty to show intent to harm. I don't buy that. By the motion of the bat, it looks like he underhandedly flicked the bat at him, much like many hitters do after they've been walked. He meant to throw it at him, sure, but intent to harm? I personally don't think so. I bet he gets somewhere between 15-30 games, which IMO ranges from fair to slightly excessive based on previous punishments. Absolutely. I honestly can't say that I've seen a bat flipped that hard before. That wasn't just a toss, that was chucked. Was wrong about the helmet, though. He took it off. If that hit the ump anywhere other than where it did, there could have been serious damage done.
  12. Williams has been very economical so far. 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 0 BBs, 2 Ks, 2 HRs on 80 pitches.

  14. Pie with another 2nd pitch groundout, this time to first.
  15. Mathes looking pretty good so far. 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 Ks
  16. Thanks. Pie fouled off a bunt for strike one and then grounded out to second.
  17. It really feels like I missed the thread... Nic Jackson is up with the Jaxx, so Greenberg must indeed be with Iowa. What caused this?
  18. Just noticed that. I haven't been watching since the beginning so I don't know if they mentioned that. Did I miss Greenberg getting promoted to Iowa? Gameday shows him on the bench for Iowa.
  19. And Desi Relaford becomes the second Memphis player to leave the game. Didn't see what happened, but I assume he injured himself while running to first on a single to right. Voyles left with a strained right pec. By the way, Pie is playing RF tonight with Coats in CF. :-k
  20. Norwood is putting up some decent power numbers so far this month. .513 SLG%, I believe. Theriot with a bloop single followed by an RBI double from Padgett and an RBI single from McGehee. 2-2 after 1.
  21. Anthony Reyes has been bumped by Memphis. They now have RHP Brad Voyles (1-0, 1.50 ERA, 18 IP) going for them. Wrong again! Well, kinda. Matt Smith is coming into relief for Memphis...before the bottom of the first. Voyles was hurt during his warmup pitches and had to leave the game. Smith was going to pitch during the DH on Saturday but will have to go in emergency tonight. Jerome Williams gave up two solo HRs in the top of the first and all three outs were hit in the air. The series ends on Sunday with Hill vs. Reyes. Pie takes 3 close pitches out of the zone and a strike down the middle before hitting a sharply hit grounder to first. He was robbed of a single on the diving stop and feed to the pitcher covering just in time.
