  1. The AD claimed he was planning on accepting it. He's making 1.25 right now, curious as to how much the raise would be. The question is whether there's any sort of non-compete clause in that contract. I kind of doubt it. The Michigan situation is going to play out beginning in early January. There probably isn't a reason for Harbaugh to sign anything before his bowl game, which is 2 days after Michigan plays. Both sides should have a pretty good idea of what is going to transpire by the end of that 1st week in January. Non-compete clauses aren't allowed in California Not that Harbaugh would sign a contract with one, but with the potential jobs open at the NLF and college levels, it's hard to see him staying more than another year or two even with a new contract, especially if Luck goes pro.
  2. Technically he resigned. He'll be staying in the athletic department. One more possible destination for Rich Rodriguez if he's out at Michigan.
  3. Minnesota's contract with Jerry Kill is heavily incentivized: $150,000 for a Big Ten title $150,000 for playing in the BCS championship game $100,000 for a division title $100,000 for a Capital One or Outback Bowl appearance $50,000 for 5 Big Ten conference wins $25,000 for each Big ten conference win beyond the first 5 And more for things like graduation success.

  5. Stewart Mandel's guess is that the Big 12 lobbied hard for Mizzou, which makes a lot of sense.
  6. Minnesota has hired Jerry Kill from NIU per Joe Schad.
  7. The source, a beat writer in Columbia, MO, says that Nebraska will play Washington in the Holiday Bowl. Oklahoma State vs. Arizona in the Alamo Bowl, as well.
  8. Reportedly Mizzou will play Iowa in the Insight, not Nebraska.
  9. NIU vs. Fresno State in Humanitarian Bowl, Miami vs. Middle Tennessee at GoDaddy Bowl, Toledo vs. FIU in Little Caesars, Ohio vs. Troy in New Orleans, Temple is left out.
  10. Nope, this is the first year that all bowl eligible teams are equal for at large bids.
  11. A little surprising. Tennessee to the Music City Bowl is now apparently official, as well. NU vs. Texas Tech in the TicketCity Bowl and Illinois vs. Baylor in the Texas Bowl are also all but official. And according to Stewart Mandel, Temple is reportedly going to be team #71 despite their 8-4 record.
  12. The Big Ten has ended their expansion study, which just means they won't be focusing on it for the time being.
  13. Florida to the Outback is official, as is Notre Dame vs. Miami in the Sun Bowl.
  14. I'm glad Tillman decided to take a blindside shot at a blocker after assuming the play was over instead of holding containment.
  15. It was such an awkward distance, though, that you couldn't really follow through on the throw. No idea why they had them throw from that close.
  16. Nevada will play in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, which should mean that Utah will face Boise State in Vegas. Utah will be without their starting QB, though, who is undergoing shoulder surgery.
  17. is that Michigan to Gator? Yeah, Michigan.
  18. According to ESPN, the Outback Bowl is seriously considering taking Florida, sending South Carolina to the Chick-fil-A Bowl. They'd likely face Penn State, as Adam Rittenberg said it sounds like Penn State to Outback, Michigan to Gator, Iowa to Insight, Illinois to Texas, and NU to TicketCity.
  19. All Newton seems to have to do is throw it up in the air. He's gotten a lot of breaks on those in recent weeks. Aside from the dropped passes, of course.
  20. Really bad play by the safety on the first play for Auburn. Let a man run right by him when they should be daring Newton to throw that. Just play deep and wait for a pass with a lot of hangtime.
  21. I've heard a lot of people say that TCU in the championship game would be a disaster for the BCS, but I don't get it. Ratings likely wouldn't suffer that much and while a BCS conference would be losing out on a lot of money this year, wouldn't it ultimately be good for the BCS to have a non-AQ make it to the championship game? It's an example they'll be able to point to as to how the system is fair to non-AQ schools. And it's not like Auburn and Oregon are Oklahoma and Ohio State. They're BCS schools, but they aren't huge names. Cam Newton will perhaps help to deliver additional TV ratings, but I don't know there's a great difference between Oregon and the intrigue of a non-AQ competing for the national championship.

It's an example they'll be able to point to as to how the system is fair to non-AQ schools. The thought is that if the precedent is set where a non-AQ undefeated gets in over an AQ 1 loss team that the BCS conferences may decide to change the system. I don't think this year would cause that though...but if it happened multiple times, the big schools would not be happy. It probably comes down to who you think has a better chance of changing the system...the outsiders (small conferences, Congress, the public) or the insiders (mostly the BCS university presidents). I just can't see those in the BCS changing the system, particularly with TCU joining the Big East in a couple of years. The odds of it happening multiple times, especially since it likely requires a late or end of season loss by a BCS team to loss a spot in the championship game and not just any loss, are quite low. Expansion will be the reason for any change from within, not the occasional threat from a single non-AQ. And Illinois can have the Texas Bowl. Airfare from Chicago to Houston is ridiculous.

It's an example they'll be able to point to as to how the system is fair to non-AQ schools. Having a crappy Big East school make millions is far more damaging (in my eyes) to the system than TCU winning the NC It's going to the Big East, not the school. They share bowl revenue and since they're only getting one bid, they're getting the bare minimum.
