  1. Not sure why anyone is surprised. That's their track record. Hell, they have a worse Graduation Success Rate (55%) than all but 2 SEC teams. True. This is fairly unprecedented though. The guy spent 8 days in jail and was practicing on the very afternoon he was released. I haven't heard of something similar in even the most rogue programs. Mostly I hate how Dantonio gets this reputation as being such a classy guy who does things the right way. He always gets compared to Ferentz. I knew they had the worst grad rate in the league but didn't know they ranked that low compared to the SEC. Damn I hope we beat them tomorrow. You have a short memory. Dantonio reinstated Glenn Winston the same day he was released from jail last year after he served four months in jail over the summer following his assault on the MSU hockey player. Winston went on to make Dantonio proud by beating the crap out of more Michigan State students at the end of the season. The bottom line is that he's only held accountable for wins and losses. As long as they keep winning, nobody there is going to care. The grad rates are still rather depressing. Michigan State at 55% and Minnesota at 56% have lower graduation rates than every SEC time except Tennessee (53%) and Arkansas (55%). Still, I'd rather have MSU win out and keep the Big Ten's odds of 2 BCS teams at its highest.
  2. Not sure why anyone is surprised. That's their track record. Hell, they have a worse Graduation Success Rate (55%) than all but 2 SEC teams. In hopes of overshadowing the criticism, Michigan State just announced that they signed a 3 game series with Boise State. They're at Michigan State in 2012, at Boise State in 2022, and back at Michigan State in 2023. Having the last 2 dates pushed out so far makes it safer for Michigan State.
  3. There's one report that said Northwestern tried hard to get a series with Duke. Instead, nobody wanted to play a team that has no appeal and runs the Princeton offense, so the best we got was Creighton (aside from GT in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge).
  4. Here's what Wrigley looks like this afternoon:
  5. 20 year old Justin Blackmon was arrested for DUI at 4 AM in Texas this morning.
  6. Not disappointing at all:
  7. Well this is just awesome:
  8. Yeah, in-conference games. http://www.bigtennetwork.com/dpp/about_us/Gus-Johnson-to-Double-Big-Ten-Network-Workload Not sure why they say 20 of 23 will be conference matchups or BTT games when it later says he'll be doing all 3 BTT games they carry. I don't recall him doing quite as many games last year. Maybe in the 6-8 range. Regardless, it's a lot more Gus.
  9. Suck it, rest of the country: He'll call 20 Big Ten conference games and 3 Big Ten tournament games. Thanks, MSG.
  10. Olsen just got away with a fumble. Nevermind, the leg was touching.
  11. Cutler broke the plane. They better challenge this again.
  12. And Chris Rainey will play for Florida against Georgia in a week and a half. Shocking.
  13. I haven't watched any of their games, but just looking at this I would think that the kicker is not getting good hangtime in an attempt to get a touchback. You would think so, but that's an extreme case of hit or miss. It sure as hell isn't the elevation.
  14. I was looking through some NCAA stats and this really jumped out at me: Oklahoma State is 119th out of 120 teams in kickoff return coverage, giving up an average 35 yards per kickoff return including 2 for TDs. That's over 18 total returns. Yet they lead the country in touchbacks at 35. Only one other team has more than 17 and that's Florida State (26).
  15. Some fine alligator arms by Bryant.
  16. South Carolina still controls their own fate in the SEC East, assuming Lattimore returns soon.
  17. Florida actually won that game. Demps run fass Someone's getting a crazy death threat-sending stalker back next week.
  18. That's awesome. What game? Nebraska to pull within 7. They went for the onside kick with 3 minutes to go (no idea why), Texas recovers easily. A Nebraska loss would definitely help out the Big Ten's chances of a 2nd BCS bid at this point.
  19. You don't see a 95 yard TD return on a pooch punt out of a FG formation very often.
  20. That's standard practice this year. At least you get it in SD. DirecTV blacks it out completely. Yet ESPNews carries Michigan and Iowa. Completely redundant.
  21. Robbie Hummel is out for the season with an ACL tear.
  22. Still about a month and a half away.
  23. Florida just slightly increased their odds of adding another arrest this year by reinstating Rainey. I guess Meyer didn't feel that the current roster was enough to catch Georgia.
  24. According to Darren Rovell, Nike will be the new on-field apparel company starting in April 2012 while New Era got the hat deal.
