Last week's 30-13 win over Rice gave Northwestern back to back wins by double digits for the first time in ten years. Ten years. Might as well just change their name to Cardiac 'Cats full-time.

Persa was pretty out of sync with his receivers in the first half Saturday night and threw 7 incompletions (the nerve), but he had just 1 in the 2nd half. They're also not just short passes. He's averaging over 10 yards a passing attempt. And the closest he came to being picked off was a huge 3rd and long completion on a perfect throw over a defender.

We shoulda beaten Michigan last year. IU keeps talking about how they need to run the ball. I say, run be damned. Throw the ball every play if you need to. Got four freaking 6'3+ WRs. I know Willis had a down game on Saturday, but if you can create a balanced attack, that will just make them all the more dangerous. He's a scary back. And I know Chappell hasn't thrown a pick yet, but his INT totals have been pretty high before this season.

Michigan's offense will need to put up 60 against Indiana. It's definitely possible, but boy is it going to be a long season on defense. Just got a 2:30 central start on ESPNU, opposite Wisconsin @ Michigan State on ABC. I might only get to see a combined half of those games, unfortunately. I didn't realize ESPNU was going to show any 2:30 Big Ten games this year. They're really trying to push it.

Bowling Green's starting QB will likely miss the game against Michigan with a shoulder injury. Shouldn't be a huge test for Michigan's defense, but that perhaps makes their meeting with Indiana all the more intriguing. Indiana's offense vs. Michigan's defense could be pretty telling about the rest of the season for both teams.

Can't wait to get back out to Ryan Field. Attending 1 game in the first 3 weeks was hard to endure. One more week until Big Ten conference play starts, though. I'd be looking forward to watching the Michigan State/Wisconsin game in week 5 if I'd be able to see it.

One report I saw said that the stadium game clock still had 2 seconds left when the ball was snapped. http://irish.nbcsports.com/2010/09/kudos-to-the-spartans.html.php http://www.bluegraysky.com/forum/index.php?id=29400 Delay of game penalties rarely get called if the ball is snapped within a couple of seconds after the clock hits zero. And considering this was an apparent FG attempt with the back judge repositioned, that might delay the call even further.

Mark Dantonio suffered a heart attack last night. The AP is reporting a stent was put in place in a blocked artery. He will apparently be out indefinitely with OC Don Treadwill taking his place. Michigan State will be holding a press conference shortly.

That was an odd fake FG. It was slow developing, but Notre Dame's defense had no idea what to do. They just kind of stood there. Typically if the holder needs that much time to throw, he's going to be pressured.

That was one of the stranger pass interference calls I've seen. The ball was overthrown by a good 10-15 yards and landed out of bounds, so there's no way it would have been catchable, but two different officials threw the flag.

Bulls games are what you'd expect if you went to the park, put a dome over it, and added a "de-fense" chant and a kiss cam. But certainly NBA games are worse than NFL games.

I was with you until this point. You think that's a bad thing? It's the acquisition of beer that's the problem. Why are you at the game if you're getting up to get beer during the action? It's just a distraction. I realize that there's never a good time to get in a beer line at an NFL game because of how short the breaks are, including halftime, but it seems to hurt crowd participation.

Further from the action, no band, more music over loudspeakers, less crowd enthusiasm, worse stadiums (pro-style stadiums for football and basketball are just awful for atmosphere), etc. Honestly, it seems like people are more concerned with concessions, particularly beer, at pro games. That's not the case at college games.

The pro atmosphere sucks, though. And this is coming from a Northwestern fan. The only atmosphere at a Bears game that would make it worth it is tailgating. If you're going to spend 3 hours before the game in the parking lot tailgating, then I can see how it's pretty appealing. Otherwise, I can listen to bad music at a loud volume and not sit around people who really care just about anywhere. I'd much rather just watch a Bears game at home. It kills me not being able to attend most road Northwestern games, on the other hand. I'd much rather travel all day to a road game at a place like Indiana to see Northwestern play than to take a 75 minute el trip to Soldier Field to see the Bears. And it has nothing to do with ticket prices.

Works for any team he bounces to next, I guess. Well, I think they have them for all teams, including an Urlacher jersey (yikes). But it does. A sound investment at $99.
