  1. According to the Orlando Sentinel, 16.2% of Urban Meyer's players have either been arrested or faced at least one criminal charge. They're doubling the rate of players at Northwestern who fail to graduate. That's 30 arrests in 5 years to just 1 over the last 5 years at Miami. Go Gators!
  2. Weslye Saunders was kicked off the team by South Carolina.
  3. It was reported this morning that it's a concussion. It's possible this may end his career.
  4. Well that's a surprise. He was quoted this morning as saying he was feeling better from his undisclosed illness. The Bears didn't want him to say what was wrong. Also, Nick Roach pulled his hamstring against Detroit. No update on his status yet.
  5. I feel bad for Keith Smith and Purdue. If the NFL labor situation gets sorted out, he may be headed to the NFL instead of coming back to Purdue. And for an offense that a lot of people were very optimistic about prior to the season, losing a star WR when the passing game has struggled to reach its potential is a huge blow.
  6. But in typical fashion, the woman is getting harrassing phone calls from fans despite Rainey admitting to the officer that he did indeed send the "time to die" text.
  7. Yeah, I can't see the ball moving at all. Sunday's call was far easier to make.
  8. Starting Florida WR Chris Rainey was arrested for stalking and if the allegations are true, he better not see the field again.
  9. All Dan Persa is doing is leading the country in completion percentage at 86.4% and QB rating at 212.06. He also has 1 fewer TD (5) than incompletions (6), which would be reversed had there not been a perfect TD throw dropped yesterday in the end zone, though the receivers have caught everything else thrown to them.
  10. I will say that I'm a little surprised they made that call on the field prior to a review. I turned away in disgust before it even happened, but had I seen the whole thing live, I wouldn't have thought a ref would make that call given the situation and just how late it was that he lost the ball.
  11. no, because he went to the ground. if he didn't go to the ground it wouldn't have been an issue. And the refs ruled that he wasn't flipping the ball up, which I agreed with. The arm was coming forward as a result of his original motion. Plus, the play doesn't end when the 2nd knee is down. It ends when the receive shows that he established control through the original motion to and through the ground. Had he rolled over twice because of his momentum and then lost it, it still would have been incomplete. Just think of it like it was at the 20 yard line instead of the end zone. Would anyone rule that a complete pass and fumble or just an incompletion? If it's a completed pass and fumble, where was the football move needed to establish possession?
  12. It's a pretty straight-forward rule. If you don't have possession through the entire completion when you go to the ground, it's not a catch. It's not a new rule and wasn't a terribly difficult call for the refs. The only question, as they said, was whether there was a second move. There clearly wasn't, so the call was upheld. Give me a break. He caught the ball, hit the ground, and flipped it up. Saying anything else in blatant homerism. I've seen that call many times in college and the NFL. It's not a new rule. This just happened to be an extreme instance of it. Honestly, there's no way I'd interpret that he had control all the way through the ground.
  13. It's a pretty straight-forward rule. If you don't have possession through the entire completion when you go to the ground, it's not a catch. 14. What a giant break. I can't see how that's overturned.
  15. At least this isn't all on the players.
  16. Watching the replay hurt my arm.
  17. Kreutz can still get out there and block, I guess.
  18. And the Bears are content to let the clock run down despite having 3 timeots.
  19. The overtime coin flip in the Temple/Central Michigan game just went like this: "What do you call?" "Defense" ".....heads or tails?"
  20. AJ Green now being linked to the North Carolina scandal? I'm pretty sure any school outside the southeast can do whatever the hell they want for the next couple of years. The NCAA is going to be busy.
  21. Boise State playing a good team on the road more often is a pretty dangerous proposition. Not only do they lose revenue from a home gate, but they (and their conference) would lose money with a lower BCS payout. Honestly, they're not in a bad position right now. They're probably better off financially with consistent BCS appearances than the occasional shot at a national championship while being knocked out of BCS contention with a road loss in other years.
  22. This is impressive:
  23. Georgia's AJ Green has been suspended for 4 games by the NCAA for selling his jersey TO AN AGENT. Georgia is appealing the decision, however. If it's true, I can't think of a worse buyer for your jersey. He'd have gotten in less trouble had he sold it to Osama Bin Laden.
  24. It's worth noting that the conferences are virtually independent of the NCAA when it comes to alignment. The NCAA has no say in the matter. Am I the only one that cares very, very little about the national championship, anyways? It's way, way down on the list of why I love college football. I think the current bowl system is great, though some changes do need to be made.
  25. The Bears are going to be wearing their previously unveiled throwback uniforms on 9/27 vs. Green Bay and 11/14 vs. Minnesota.
