  1. It should just be "Losty." It's kind of eerie just how well that works out.
  2. But ERA is the only stat that it doesn't reflect upon. He still got the loss, which most people in baseball value over ERA, and his other stats remain effected by the "unearned" HR. I don't think it's that big of a deal one way or the other.
  3. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to see it live. I think I was probably staying after school for a volleyball game or practice. I finally got around to transferring my ESPN Classic copy to DVD. Watching his strikeouts is never going to get old.
  4. They can't DFA Marquis. They'll need him as a PHer since Lou won't have a bench.
  5. Unless they skip him (which I've heard they're considering but no official word) the Cubs scheduled starter is Marquis for that game. According to Len last night, they're skipping Marquis because of the off-day on Thursday.
  6. He may have been safe, but the throw beat him easily.
  7. Right now the matchup is Dempster vs. Scherzer.
  8. Oh my goodness. And I was about 5 seconds from stepping into the shower.
  9. South Florida I think. Northwestern should be improved with Rowley, but they'd need to win the Big 10 tourney to make the tournament. I bet the NIT would take them with a winning record though. We've been snubbed before, but they should. The atmosphere are Welsh-Ryan for the last NIT game against DePaul was great. It would be an important step. Here's a list of schools that have never played in the tournament from 2004. And guess which one hosted the first ever tournament. Maybe it's a curse for tearing down Patten Gym.
  10. But setting up players to fail is what Hendry's Cubs do best!
  11. Some. Craig Robinson, brother of Michelle Obama, left a couple of years ago to take the HC spot at Brown. That opened up a spot for Tavaras Hardy. He joined the staff in 2006 and was a natural fit from the beginning. The guy is a former two-time All-Big Ten player who bleeds purple and even married a former NU womens basketball player. He's lived in the Chicago area all of his life and has an incredible knack for recruiting, especially locally. The inrease in recruiting success we've had in the last year or two can really be tied to him. Carmody has refocused his recruiting efforts, though, and I think that's paying off, as well.
  12. Blanco's seed, son. Jk. Their defense is solid and that's with two potential all stars on the bench. They have a good keeper and they have some underrated, very good offensive guys like Frankowski and Thorrington. Rolfe is a contributor and Barrett has his (mls) moments, then of course there is Mr. White. Thorrington is going all April Theriot on opponents. And Rolfe's return should provide a nice spark. It's too bad I haven't been able to watch all that much so far this season. And speaking of fire... Oh, and the announcement on the USMNT match vs. T&T at Toyota Park should come in the next couple of weeks.
  13. http://www.weather.com, lol I've learned not to trust weather.com too much. I was wondering if anyone had a better forecast, but if all else fails, I'll let weather.com be my guide. I'd recommend everything from shorts and t-shirts to jeans and a jacket, but more of the jeans than shorts. It'll be cooler next weekend than it is now, at least. The NWS's forecast of a high of 65 and mostly sunny for Saturday would be great, but we'll see what actually happens. AccuWeather says a high of 61 and mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. TWC says a high of 60. WGN is also saying a high of 61 and a chance of rain late.
  14. Has the USMNT match with Barbados been mentioned yet? It's scheduled for 6/15 at 4 PM CT and will be shown live on ESPN2 from the Home Depot Center. By the way, what has gotten into the Fire?
  15. It is, but our new AD has to be very impressed with this recruiting class. As I mentioned befored, President Bienan, a good friend of Carmody and the reason Bill was brought/kept here, will be retiring after the next academic season. Carmody knows the pressure is on. By the way, the similarities between Tavaras Hardy and Pat Fitzgerald are growing by the day. Both are former NU standouts who have had very good recruiting success at such a young age. We need to keep Hardy around. Wow. Rowley has re-classified and is now part of the 2008 class, meaning he'll be at Northwestern for next season! He isn't sure if he'll redshirt or not and he's going to be raw, but I'm very excited. Apparently this means that Sterling Williams is leaving the program. He has done very well academically and can probably graduate this June. http://illinoishsbasketball.com/images/stories/players/kyle_dunk.jpg
  16. It's a good thing that they've been amazing this season so far, then.
  17. K Zone disagrees. How accurate is K Zone? The box they put up always seems so small More accurate than partisan fans watching from a skewed camera angle, let's put it that way. It uses the same Pitch F/X technology used for pitch by pitch data, but I'm still suspicious as to how well ESPN actually uses it. LOOGY time!
  18. On the replay they showed after the break, it looked like he was out easily. He was tagged up high, but his foot was still a ways away from the bag. It was also a relatively bad throw from an off-balance catcher.
  19. Well, it is fake. You can tell by the lettering. The "E" really stands out. But the real issue would be how well it is made, which there's really no way of telling. Check the seller's feedback and see how others liked their jerseys.
  20. Someone please tell Theriot to stop running. He's horrible out there.
  21. You'll be happy to know that he's on schedule to pitch next Saturday.
  22. Amazingly, unlike Dusty, Lou was actually right about Bobby Bonds when he joined the Yankees. What is Marquis still doing in there?
  23. Lou forgot the part about why they tied onions to their belts in his day.
