  1. All he needs to do... ALL he needs to do, is catch a routine fly ball that he's caught 1,000 times before, and we're all celebrating. Yes, he hit the 2-run homer, but he also cost us the game, so that cancels out, don't you think? 2 runs > 1 run Not buying this argument in the least. 1 run > 2 runs? I'm confused.
  2. I'm pretty sure God doesn't give care whether the Cubs win or lose. He only cares if the NFL Cardinals are still in St Louis. Perfect teeth. Nice smell. A class act, all the way.
  3. All he needs to do... ALL he needs to do, is catch a routine fly ball that he's caught 1,000 times before, and we're all celebrating. Yes, he hit the 2-run homer, but he also cost us the game, so that cancels out, don't you think? 2 runs > 1 run The difference is that he's expected to hit home runs. He shouldn't be congratulated for successfully doing the ONE thing he does well. He gets paid 18 mil a year, so he better hit home runs. Stop acting like it evens out, because it doesn't. So if Hoffpauir, making major league minimum, and hit a 2-run HR but dropped the same fly ball, he would have come out ahead? And I never said it evened out. I said he came out ahead.
  4. His sunglasses were flipped down. He only flipped them back up after the play.
  5. Yeah, he got 2 runs. But he also basically allowed 2 runs. The blown HR in the first that he should've caught anyway, and the 9th inning catch (or lack thereof) He should've made more of an effort, but how can you say that a ball that hit on the back of the top padding up against the metal rail should have been caught?

Hrmm? The Cubs for scoring fewer runs than the Pirates.

  8. Is Marmol allowed to throw 40+ pitches in non-blowouts?
  9. The Fire are pounding NY. It's 5-0 in the 66th minute. They've scored 4 times in the first 17 minutes of the 2nd half.
  10. Did the umpire decide to stop paying attention after the error? The first pitch was right down the middle.
  11. It would be nice if they featured him more at Wrigley.
  12. And if Lou was bringing in Blanco, why not move Soto to first? Geovany had 22 games at first last year at Iowa and doesn't need to catch the extra innings.
  13. Soto should be focused on driving the runner home and not moving him to third. I doubt Piniella told him to try to hit it to the right side, though.
  14. Soto trying to go to right is just weird.
  15. According to Len, Hill will throw a simulated game on Sunday. Marshall is expected to skip a start because of his hamstring injury.
  16. They didn't exactly look great once he returned. I don't think he looked better at the NSBB game.
  17. He swung at ball 4 and got a "seeing-eye" double, but that certainly won't hurt his playing time.
  18. Hill will be eligible to come off the DL either today or tomorrow, but there hasn't been an indication as to when his next start will be. The Cubs haven't provided any updates on his back to the best of my knowledge. Regardless, Hill has pitched a combined total of 14 innings over the last 30 days. He's not only going to have to regain effectiveness before the Cubs will call him back up, but he'll also need to be stretched out. As for Hart, if he were a lefty, he'd have been called up. He may very well be the choice if Gallagher continues to struggle, but I don't see them making that switch at this point.
  19. Marshall is currently day-to-day with a hamstring injury. Since he left in the 4th last night, I'd have to believe that he's still a few starts away from making enough of a case to be called up. And it wouldn't surprise me if Hill wasn't ready until close to July. I don't think Gallagher needs to be worried about being replaced in his next start or two.
  20. 2 HBPs. At least we know it's the same Pawelek.
