  1. Hahaha. Wonderful effort on the names, McCarver.
  2. Pepe puts Portugal up 1-0 in the 61st minute.
  3. Albert and McCarver beats Buck and McCarver...I guess.
  4. Ronaldo nearly had a beautiful free kick goal to break the scoreless tie late in the first half, but it hit the far post.
  5. Marshall is a ways away. When he's activated from the DL on Monday, he'll have missed 2.5 weeks. His endurance wasn't built up before that, either. Hill's endurance is up, but he has no command. He could still conceivably make it back before Marshall, though. It's just wait and see with him. He has good stuff, but his command actually got worse yesterday evening. It's basically just keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully he can start to turn it around next time out.
  6. It's amazing that someone like him can just throw away his career like that.
  7. I missed the entire first match, but based on the highlights, it looks like that was an absolute heartbreaker for Switzerland.
  8. Saturday 10:50 AM- Switzerland vs. Czech Republic A (ESPN Classic) 1:30 PM- Portugal vs. Turkey A (ESPN Classic) 7:30 PM - Fire vs. DC United (FSC) Sunday 10:50 AM- Austria vs. Croatia B (ESPN2) 1:30 PM- Germany vs. Poland B (ESPN2) 6:30 PM - US vs. Argentina (ESPN Classic) That's a lot of soccer for me this weekend to try and fit around the Cubs games.
  9. Someone tell Theriot that he's allowed to charge the weak grounder.
  10. Yeah, Lou deserves at least some of the credit for the incredible offensive patience we're seeing this year. I'm confident that that's more important than the dumb stuff he does in-game. I wouldn't mind the back-to-back lefties if Lou would pinch-hit Johnson for Edmonds when the opposing manager brings in a LOOGY, but he's demonstrated that he will not do so. It's hard to do when you're carrying 13 pitchers. And because of that, there's really no reason to bat Edmonds in front of DeRosa.
  11. I wouldn't put it past the Cubs to move him, but they'd be trading while his value is at its lowest.
  12. On the bright side, he was able to throw 98 pitches. Geez.
  13. The field at Indiana's Memorial Stadium has been heavily damaged:
  14. That is desperation. I'm just glad that Chivas is playing Barcelona at Soldier Field in August. Not so I can go, but rather so I can make some nice money off of it. I really love how predictable Ticketmaster is in regards to releasing 100-level endzone tickets for matches at Soldier Field. Getting first row seats has been quite easy. Aren't 100s already gone because of the presales? No, there are plenty left. At least in the endzones. For this presale, they're releasing the sections towards the corners in the endzones first. One by one. That's often how they do it, but for general onsales without presales, they start with the sections behind the goal and then work towards the corners. But they go through an entire section pretty much before starting with the first row in the next section. I've already grabbed 4 first row seats in 154 and 4 first row seats in 120. Hopefully I can pick up some more later. They just started in 154, but they're already on row 4. Looks like I should've checked before I left work.
  15. There's actually already a thread discussing Aaron Cook: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=48844
  16. Didn't they draft Brenly as a nice gesture last year, as well? EDIT: Wow, that was 2005 in the 43rd round.

  18. So Goldstein thinks that Flaherty is a "true shortstop?" I thought most reports had his limited range as a reason why he'd have to move.
  19. I love it, more tailgating time in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. :) I guess they have to use the parking lot for something before the game starts. I have a feeling you won't be taking any crap from Dodger fans tonight.
  20. If he wants to, he could throw Edmonds over there. He's played a little 1B in the past. Though that would still give you a crappy matchup against either him or Reed, depending on who's pitching. Soto can also play first with Blanco catching. I'm hoping Piniella will realize that at some point during the summer.
  21. DeRosa's follow-through on HR swings is so deceptive. He has such a level swing when he hits it out.
  22. That first pitch fastball is about as appetizing a pitch as they'll see today. Unfortunately, neither Lee nor Soto could catch up to it.
  23. Intentionally walking a batter early in the game to get to Soto isn't going to be a common occurrence this season.
  24. Lee took some pitches that, while just off the corners, I didn't expect to be called balls.
