  1. what? no. brent seabrook was like the 4th-best defenseman on the hawks this year. he was such a lump of [expletive] at one point that Q sat him. he belongs nowhere near the norris trophy
  2. I was only referring to the final possession(s) of the game when things tend to be more of an iso situation. I think it's easier to score with LeBron playing a big guy than it is with him defending a playmaker on the perimeter, especially right now with Rose more than likely being rusty. I don't think you'll see LeBron on Nate, it would create weird matchups elsewhere and probably give the Bulls a bit of an advantage. Plus, I think Nate is too quick for LeBron, even with the huge size disadvantage. As Sulley said, against any other team, and any other game situation, you're much better off with Rose, rust or not. i disagree. anytime you pull the heat's best defender out on to the perimeter, you make it easier to score, not harder
  3. It's far from a given that giving Robinson's current minutes and role immediately to an ice cold Derrick Rose is going to pay dividends right off the bat. you're right, it might take a minute or two do i really need to point out the logical fallacy of expecting nate robinson to continue to produce at this clip? this is [expletive] madness
  4. if only they wanted to win baseball games biggest surprises so far for me, in order: 1) valbuena 2) wood 3) gregg 4) feldman
  5. just in case i'm not understanding this correctly, we're talking about whether or not it would hurt the bulls to play derrick rose instead of nate robinson, correct? and theoretically, this scenario is happening in this dimension, on earth, in the year 2013, according to the accepted rules of play of the national basketball association? and we're not sure which player we would rather spend our minutes on? am i understanding this right?
  6. WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY JERKS TALKING ABOUT HOW IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION OF COURSE THE BULLS ARE BETTER IN EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE CONCEIVABLE SCENARIO WITH DERRICK ROSE THAN WITHOUT HIM
  7. umm you have to be joking
  8. i don't feel bad for that 12 year old goalie, none of the ones he was the doorman for was the difference maker
  9. i wish my wife knew who Bickell was my wife doesn't know him by name, only by smile
  10. damn, i wish i could watch this nucks-sharks game right now
  11. love love love the islanders bringing it even with the pens. the pens have serious weapons, but the goaltending just isn't there also, how bout those nucks
  12. i think you have to be on the roster by a certain point in the season in order to be on the playoff roster
  13. i think you mean 13/13
  14. wouldn't they have had to match salaries?
  15. hahaha, i love it. too bad the former will never happen though
  16. why, because he was left for dead by his team and still turned in the best non-niemi goalie performance by a hawk of the last several decades? no, the third was a one-timer short-side goal after oduya coughs up the puck behind the net but anyway, hopefully brent seabrook takes his adderall tonight and quits playing like he's got post-concussion syndrome
  17. Why hockey? I don't follow the sport so I'm actually curious. Probably because hockey is the only of the big 4 pro sports leagues in the US to work to create a culture of inclusion. I was unaware of some of these details, but Bernstein outlines some of the efforts quite nicely in his article today... http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/05/01/bernstein-gay-affirming-nhl-way-ahead-of-the-game/
  18. honestly, anyone picking the pens to make it is just being lazy and/or didn't get the memo about crosby. they're a puck possession team that in the last month of the season was 2nd worst in the east in 5V5 corsi. of course, they're getting some reinforcements so who knows if that trend holds up. if it does, they probably won't make it out of the 2nd round. the isles are legit, but i just don't see them winning more than two games against this squad, however depleted if i was a betting man, my money would be on boston-chi, which will/would be a LOT of fun
  19. the rangers are pretty good, but some of that is inflated by a meh east. they also have a pretty rad goalie, so after the bruins they're probably the most likely team out of the east to get to the finals. then again, they could also lose in the first round to the streaky capitals
  20. if we lose a game in this series, it's because we just didn't give a [expletive]. which happens, so i've got chicago in five the one to watch will be la vs stl. la's record didn't do justice to how good they actually were, and stl's goaltending sucks so i'm going with la in six
  21. i had this intuition that minnesota might be dangerous for some reason, but my intuition was garbage. they're as good as they finished, and are still a ways away from being a truly dangerous team
  22. furthermore, the blackhawks are 3rd in the league in 4V5 +/-. being good with one less guy on the ice is a pretty badass place to be but yeah let's poo poo this team cause ARGH SHOOT DA PUCK
  23. power play is like the least important thing to focus on for a team that would like to compete for the cup. anecdotaly, this is probably why you often see terrible teams do well on the power play. there is no positive correlation between the strength of pp and the chances of hoisting lord stanley's cup. repeat, there is no positive correlation between the strength of pp and the chances of hoisting lord stanley's cup things that do correlate well with postseason success? 5V5 strength. so, you know, that thing the 2012-2013 blackhawks are amazing at the focus on strength of power play conveys a deep misunderstanding on what actually leads to winning hockey games and like quenneville said after last night's game; throw it in the garbage, it means nothing
  24. the amount of epic badness wrought on this franchise by wrigley and the tribune is going to take decades to surpass. to ricketts' credit, at least he's not trying to field a winner and failing. he's been pretty successful at the overall goal just be happy that when we win it all in 2016, i won't ask anyone here to eat crow. i'll be too busy flipping cars
