  1. i blame the coal dust
  2. I wouldn't call everybody below that group a role player. And those won't all stay in the same spot forever. Gretzky, jagr, messier. They all moved. Crosby is probably a lock to not move, but ovi is a weirdo on a poorly run team. Who knows with him. I'd day yes, there is a lot of movement. And it's not just one last team at the end of a career. Just look at hossa. His story is normal. i feel like hossa is the outlier as far as talent and the amount of movement as a result of free agency. but i do agree with the point about players hitting free agency early in their careers. i think the biggest thing that determines whether a player moves during that first real shot to cash in is how well has their team build something around them. at least to the point that they compete, i think that's the common thread amongst all of those guys that i mentioned earlier suter and parise going to the wild maybe betray that point, since they each came from teams that had good things going (though i know some would debate nashville)
  3. is there really a lot of movement? i mean, look at the top players; crosby, datsyuk, toews, ovechkin, bergeron, zetterberg, kopitar... they're not going anywhere. role players will move, but who cares
  4. at first i thought you meant that the pens almost lost to the leafs but yeah, bruins fans are pretty insufferable. if the habs weren't a thing, bruins fans would be the east's answer to the canucks
  5. 21 total for the game, pretty low. then again, the hawks only got 28 off. so, if we could win a majority of our faceoffs, we'd basically be the greatest team in the modern era, right? we have arguably the best puck possession game in the nhl and we lose more faceoffs than we win. pretty amazing *not a thing, btw
  6. srsly, i feel like there should be a stat on this. this series has been nuts with that
  7. it's a little surprising, but they also didn't get very many shots off in the first two games
  8. Doesn't he have a broken leg? broken noodle
  9. i'm sure he didn't mind that keith's ungloved hand was there, but the intent was to knock away his glove so he would have to chase it instead of be able to get back. if he wanted to break keith's hand, he could have very well done it

  11. in seanimal hockey world, whacking a guy in the face with a stick should be a game suspension and a fine. in a perfect world it would be longer, but the problem is that the hit to the face was not intentional (the slash was, the fact that it got him in the face doesn't appear to be), and it stemmed from frustration over an earlier non-call. more effective officiating would give the league more ammo to meaningfully police outright violence in the game also, it didn't seem like carter's hit to the hands was particularly injurious and the point was to try to knock away keith's glove. it was the straw that broke the camel's back for keith, but the exchange prior to the hit to the hands is the true origin of all that
  12. i certainly would like to see more production out of kaner, but he didn't look pathetic. one, he's probably the most schemed-against player on the hawks. there's routinely a second guy all over him, made possible by the withered threat that is zus. as far as shot vs. pass, he could probably stand to be a little more aggressive, but at the same time, he knows as well as anyone that the best way to beat a goalie is to force them to go side-to-side. if he can't get a winner off cleanly, i don't mind him moving the puck to someone with a better chance. again, i would like to see more production, but for the most part, kaner has been doing kaner things
  13. i dunno man, zdeno chara might have him beat. his eyes aren't even on the same parallel, which just adds to the weird oblong chris chelios thing he has going on
  14. give ssr all of the karmas
  15. Wade and Manu in a Finals together might create a flopping critical mass that produces anti-matter. that's not how antimatter is made you fool
  16. by a pretty wide margin, since they can't play themselves
  17. that's been the right thing to want for over a month
  18. also, saad. that 'excuse me ma'am' on doughty was nasty. he's been beasting, and it's only a matter of time
  19. hopefully for la, richards gets right for the next game. otherwise, ballgame not a big fan of bickell leaving his leg out for contact a couple of times, esp. on that doughty play. no need to resort to that kind of thing wasn't crow's best game either, but there were moments of brilliance that just weren't there last year. if he keeps this up, there will be some awful 'eating crow' comments. can't say enough about his play all year long
  20. while i expect the kings to be more physical tonight, i don't think that sort of thing takes the hawks out of their game much. i say that based on games against other physical teams during the season. more physical or not, i do believe we'll see a better kings performance tonight. hopefully quick makes some mistakes or ties his skates too tight and his foot falls asleep or something
  21. nor should you be. the kings have had a very good year and if they weren't the best, they are certainly in the conversation. this series is a toss-up that being said, the "core" argument you present doesn't really make sense. as others have mentioned, the supporting cast is stronger this season than any other since the post-cup roster changes. also, the core that made early exits the last two years also won the cup three seasons ago about that team, that team was amazingly better than everyone else during the regular season. this years team wasn't as good as that one, by a pretty healthy margin. but that's ok, that team was unsustainable for a number of reasons. every hawk fan should feel blessed to have experienced that. but that shouldn't take away from the mortality of this team, as they have just as much ability and potential to win this cup as anyone still left standing. now is when we see what they're really made of
  22. against your historic rival who used to use you as a farm team and otherwise violate the sanctity of your being for years and years and years. so much awesome to this win, it's immeasurable
  23. screw you and your sulley reverse mojo, BUDDY
