  1. None of which trumps them winning the World Series. an assertion not made in my post
  2. whenever one of these [expletive] white sox fans starts running their mouth about the world series, i mock them for speaking as if they are the yankees of the central division. then i remind them that they're only one of four teams that have never been to the playoffs in back-to-back years. and of that elite club, they have had by far the greatest amount of chances to avoid that distinction. they've seen the postseason 9 times in 113 years. they are horrible, boring, and their stadium points towards gary, in
  3. IIRC, big time yes. California is notorious for one hitters. i think they prefer something a little more blunt
  4. lol what the hell are you talking about? investment in fan outreach isn't even a thing. value dates are to put people in seats on dates that would otherwise be a difficult sell at full cost. the cubs don't need to take a haircut to pander to some jerk in the boonies using bunny ears to get the games
  5. actually, abuck is right, they don't have any of these by the bathrooms http://showcase.plumbingservicesandrepairs.com/well-pump.jpg
  6. were you able to find where the seats are?
  7. yeah, rink size was on the table a couple of lockouts ago. it's untenable given the limitations of many stadiums as well as the lost revenue due to fewer seats edit: as in the nhl floated the idea of going to the larger, international standard
  8. how did the guy with the prettiest hair become the enforcer
  9. omg that bolland call is the best thing i've ever heard. well this just seemed like total hyperbole until i watched
  10. yeah, hopefully his next transgression doesn't come at the expense of a hawks player
  11. lol gillis is the worst
  12. his performance in the playoffs definitely increased his price, but at the same time, he was going to get a raise regardless. he emerged as a real valuable asset the last season and a half, and as long as he continues to perform at that level or improve, then this contract will be worth it
  13. yeah, we're really going to miss those 10-15 points frolik was going to put up next year that was a lot of money we were paying a fourth-liner. I called this trade way back in september or something. he just makes too damn much
  14. yeah, seth jones is legit
  15. today. most people that don't live in canada or states that border canada have little visibility into junior hockey
  16. In this league, where you don't have 6 years to exploit a young player's cheapness like MLB, and where guys can become free agents relatively early, the Blackhawks have a bigger need to maintain the pipeline of younger talent than holding onto overpaid 3rd line centers. i don't think we're getting anything for bolland, if that's what you mean They won t just give Bolland away. I'd guess a 2nd or 3rd round pick. They might also package him to either move up in the draft or get some other piece. I wonder if the hawks would consider trading seabrook. He was pretty off and on this season. i'd be less surprised if a gm overpays for bolland than if we get something less than a 3rd rounder. he seemed to snap out of his post-concussion terribleness at some point during the detroit series. he was noticeably good from that point on as for seabs, i guess nothing is ever really off of the table, but i just don't see it. duncan keith kind of sucked for two whole seasons and nothing happened there. i can't imagine a season of suck, especially when that season was shortened, would be used as the impetus for a trade. plus he occasionally showed up during the playoffs. he's too important to what the hawks try to do on the ice to give up for salary cap relief, as bad as he was last year
  17. no thx. we just won a cup without a prototypical 2nd-line center. while we didn't win because of that, i'm inclined to believe it's a non-issue, a la power play
  18. this just doesn't worry me in the slightest, these guys are blackhawks until they're not wanted anymore
  19. saw that over at the committed indian, pretty cool and, call me lame, but these never get old: HAHAHAHA NEVER GETS OLD
  20. man, i hope the tribune does that cutout thing to make your own cup like they did last time
  21. i watched this one from my hotel in atlanta, and after bruins goal in the 3rd, my wife texts me, "these guys need to win this game! We're going to be at the show if there is a game 7!" it was at that point i willed them into victory, cause i wasn't going to miss the hawks win the cup cause of the book of mormon, and i wasn't going to miss the book of mormon
  22. wow, what an insane [expletive]
  23. that's pretty hilarious
  24. our captain and a young pillar on which the NHL is built has taken a series of violent shots to the upper body in the series. this is not simple "physical play", it's a constant attempt to injure, to cheat their way into the cup. this should be looked at. players like toews should not have to be the focus of dirty hits, this is real attack on the quality of play in the league itself. if the NHL wants to promote its stars, it needs to protect them. that means a lengthy suspension for hits like this, and any real attempts by goons and other animals to injure actual hockey players. the worst part about this is that when goons like steve moore make intentionally dirty hits in an effort to cheat their way to victory, then get their dirty asses removed from hockey when an opposing player like bertuzzi makes retribution, it's the guys like bertuzzi that pay with draconian suspensions. if the league doesn't want to police this kind of thing, then fine, let the players police it themselves. this means allowing violent retribution without suspension or fine. this, all of it. as i said in my earlier post, the hit on toews isn't against the rules, per se. but it sure as [expletive] should be. clearing the crease shouldn't involve trying to remove a player from the game. because in the end, it's a game, not street brawl between the channel 4 and channel 9 news teams. hit the body with your body and keep it clean. i would never want a hawks player to do that to the opponent, regardless of the situation, and have always said as much
  25. i don't really get this trade. doesn't bernier want to start? reimer seems pretty established in toronto, unless a trade is happening or they're just opening this thing up, it seems kind of odd to give up that much for a backup goalie. i must be missing something here
