  10. In English are you trying to say: This team is still trying and that is a credit to Sveum? I'm shocked that a roster filled with marginal MLB quality players is still playing hard and trying to win. Sorry I don't give Sveum any credit for that. Pretty much every player on that roster is playing for something in the future. you can say that about every roster ever. in practice, it doesn't actually happen to teams in this position all that often. i mean just look at the past history of this team alone. there are pretty glaring examples under previous managers of players just giving up or mailing it in or not really with the program. in fact, it's happened with every manager in the last decade, except for sveum (yet) shocking as it may seem, keeping a pretty crappy team mentally engaged and positive in this abusive relationship is a managerial accomplishment
  11. ::laugh track::
  12. you guys must be hits at parties
  13. it's non-trivial that despite the abysmal reality that is the major-league team, to a man they still appear to be actually trying to win baseball games. i know that's an uncomfortable arena cause it invites all sorts of "he's a grinder" vs. "he's lazy and happens-to-be-not-white" type stuff. however, i think it at least makes the idea that dale sveum is somehow an impediment to this team's success at winning ballgames a little bit ridiculous our problem is that we don't have enough quality major-league players to help us win baseball games
  14. why is an engineer from prometheus on the cowboys logo?
  15. his ability to get the team to play up defensively is exactly why he deserves a shot to take the cubs on their hypothetical run over the next few years

  19. this bar in carbondale did (still does?) "tin can tuesdays" and gave you a punch card with 30 american-style adjunct lagers. if you drank them all, you got a t-shirt. there were regional specialties such as schaefer and stag(lol), as well as northern powerhouses like hamm's, stroh's, and blatz. people can make all the contrived reasons they want, but the style of beer is just junk (literally junk brewed with the cheapest cereal grains that money can buy and blended so people don't notice the differences batch-to-batch). all of those brands are probably owned by millercoors now, not because they made an inferior product, but because they didn't pay enough for advertising. anyone who claims to enjoy the watery, metallic, seltzer qualities of those beers has bad taste This isnt rocket surgery They're broke and/or cheap you drink that [expletive] don't you this falls into the "contrived reasons" category. cheap is a choice, not a condition, and is thus no excuse. if you're broke and you need to lower yourself to vortexing miller lite down your face, then you're likely circling the drain anyway. craft beer can be had on a budget
