  1. [expletive] love this guy
  2. they probably never will if his timeline stays aggressive patience is probably somewhat un-learnable. at least, it's not the kind of thing you waste development energy on unless it's the difference-maker between sinking and swimming. my assumption is that doing so likely brings them to the brink of washing out, a la 2013 starlin castro. that might just be a prejudice of mine based on anecdote though however, the "pick your pitches" skills do increase discipline, which should lead to more walks, though that is probably mitigated by aggressive hitting tendencies. ideally, high-contact skills can couple with pitch discipline to at drive high pitch count ab's, even if that particular combination of skills don't lend themselves to a high isod
  3. Almora has been hot for about a month but this feels more like a Hendry era promotion (think Colvin or Vitters). indeed. they must be giving his approach a pass for some good reason. either his progress in other areas is enough forward development to take on greater challenges or the deficiencies weren't going to get worked out in the remaining daytona season so mine as well get him up against better competition
  4. the soler one was seemingly any day now. almora's promotion isn't as obvious to me
  5. in his defense, that's kind of a dumb rule anyway
  6. pretty sure sully's dream player is baseball dustin byfuglien. fat, drunk, shades of awesome, mostly disappointing, fun as hell to defend in an argument

  10. They said he'd get a few games at catcher here and there during the year, but he'd play mostly OF in 2014. Then they'll bring him to fall instructs and work with him. I have a hard time imagining how delaying his catching instruction will be all that helpful to teaching him how to be a catcher. I would venture to guess that it has more to do with keeping him fresh physically than it does anything else. You get him in instructs and he can work more on catching without worrying about the everyday grind of playing games on top of it. also, from what it seems like, a lot of the instruction he needs is probably very targeted and drill/repetition oriented. it's a lot more feasible to improve very specific skills in a non-competitive, non-travel environment. probably a little easier to get the right instructors there as well.
  11. Blue something. Uber photoshopped my face on her body and she had a total meltdown, which is probably fair because i made that dress look good. omfg that was amazing. i remember wanting to somehow share my joy from that with my irl friends but couldn't wrap my head around how to contextualize it

  18. wtf? catcher is the most important non-pitching defensive position on the diamond ffs, of [expletive] course catcher defense is incredibly valuable. hell, bp put out an article earlier this year supporting that framing alone could be worth as much as two wins

  22. it is; i didn't think of the misspelling until i read it again. he uses it clumsily imo, which is why i considered a misspell. also, "sat on a pitch" is likely a more familiar phrase this is really splitting hairs
  23. i think he meant "sat", not "spat"
