  1. The theory from the Chicago sports media people was that the reason why Cris Collinsworth was so effusive in his praise for Bagent (and negative on Fields) during the LA game was that it all came from Getsy. I thought it was ridiculous when I heard it, but now I'm not so sure, honestly.
  2. I watched most of the Texans-Bengals game and.... it's like watching a different sport when I watch the Bears game. It was such an electric, exciting game. Huge swings in momentum, amazing plays, incredible touch passes (by BOTH Quarterbacks) - stuff you just never see by the Bears. I wish Bears football could be like that.
  3. Fields may be incapable of running the gameplay from Carolina and Oakland but that same game plan led to a 3 score loss against LA, and I think you'd likely have a similar outcome here. You can't play that way against a team that can put up points. I'm not out on Fields yet. I'm going to give him the final 7 games before I make a final evaluation. But to paraphrase Laurence Holmes, I've grabbed my jacket and I'm walking towards the door. He's gonna have to do a whole lot in these final games to sway my mind. Even if he does, I'm not sure I'd pass up a Caleb Williams if given the opportunity. Also, it doesn't really matter whatever me, you, or idiot sports callers decide. Ultimately that call rests entirely on the Bears organization. And they may already be out on him, or at least the coaching staff is (if the leaks about Getsy are right).
  4. No, the team gets actively worse when the coaches get more time to plan for the opponent, for some reason. Not a great indicator of the strength of the coaching staff. My heart says the Bears keep it close and they cover the spread, but my brain tells me they're gonna lose pretty handily. It'd be nice if Justin has a nice game and keeps it close though.
  5. Watching the Youtube QB guys run tape on Bagent's game and, despite knowing intellectually this was bound to happen when more teams had more tape on him, it's wild to see him shrivel and turn back into a pumpkin in this game. Even at his best, he was pretty limited, but he was accurate and decisive. In this game, he's late on decisions, makes obvious mistakes into coverage, and is wildly inaccurate. How does that happen? It's not just opposing defenses figuring you out. But we've seen it play out with countless QBs. So however it happens, we know it happens. It's possible we squeezed as much magical back up QB play out of this guy before he left his magic slippers at the castle.
  6. It is of course extremely stupid and racist of all the low-info Bears fans, but I do have to say, I hadn't seen Young play until yesterday and I am shocked at how unimpressive he was and bewildered that someone who is 5'10" (probably shorter) went 1st overall and doesn't seem to display any of the qualities that made someone like Drew Brees or Russell Wilson succeed despite their height. How does that happen?
  7. Will there be an argument at all? Barring any injuries, I think we've seen that this current Oline is at least competent (snaps aside)
  8. Poles has been up and down and that includes some significant ups. There are difference makers from these drafts: Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker have played really well. Darnell Wright is a stud. There are other role players that have played well: Roschon Johnson is playing well in limited playing time, Braxton Jones has played shockingly well for a 5th round pick and Tyler Scott has been integrated more into the offense. Dexter and Pickens both played well yesterday, though they've been fairly invisible so far this year. I'm more positive on Tyrique Stevenson than many, though he's made some mistakes, I like a lot of what I've seen. It's simply not all bad. The early returns on Sweat are good. Andrew Billings has played well. You can respond and say a lot of those guys aren't difference makers, they're just guys. Well, yeah, maybe - but you need a lot of guys who can do their jobs to have a good football team. That may not be good enough, you probably need more clear star players. But it simply hasn't been all bad.
  9. Sucks for Fields this is the game he's (most likely) coming back to. Going to Detroit to play the best team in the division (not high praise), and will likely be required to put some points up early and often to stay competitive in the game. Not ideal. It's too bad he wasn't healthy enough to return for Carolina, because we saw that a straw-filled dummy approximation of a Quarterback was all that was required to beat them. So it goes. Will be a big test of the defense. Don't expect to keep these guys under 20 points. They're gonna move the ball and score. It'll be nice to see what kind of pass rush they can get with Sweat another week into the system and in a dome. I'm also curious to see how the Oline holds up. Hopefully they give Fields a nice cushion to let himself ease back in. We shall see.
  10. I will say this: the table is set for Fields. The Oline is playing the best ball it has in years. The running game is rolling. Kmet is playing well. Up to Fields to prove himself over the rest of this season.
  11. Bryce Young looked like hot garbage im going to be honest
  12. Ahahahahah ok im confident the panthers are worse than the bears, so there’s that
  13. This team is allergic to turnovers
  14. Ok a little dramatic irony in Herbstreit talking about how good Bagent has been at protecting the ball right as Bagent throws a ball at 2 defenders
  15. Ahahahah they did it they gave up a 1st after a 1st and 30 pathetic pathetic pathetic.
  16. Why, why do you have to jump the snap on 3rd and 17 you goddamn idiot
  17. Lmao, 1st and 30 but if any team can give up a 1st down here, it’s us
  18. I’m salty because I feel like other teams very very rarely get called for those kinds of pick plays also our punter absolutely sucks
  19. Sure would be nice if one of these passes popped up in the air landed in a Bears DBs hands
  20. You’re not going to go for 2 there?
  21. The amount of love Bagent is getting from Herbstreit for a 1 yard gain on a boot is…perplexing
  22. Abraham Lincoln on Kyler Gordon: “I cannot spare this man, he tackles”
  23. Bagents strategy on 3rd down to throw big uncatchable lollipops is…curious
  24. Impressive bounce back drive from Bagent. It wasn’t all good or neat, but he made it work. The ball isn’t looking as crisp as it has for him before, and he’s not looking as decisive. But, he got the job mostly done.
  25. You don’t have a hot read when you’re blitzed? What the hell was that
