  1. These injured Fields games are especially punishing because really the only purpose of the 2023 Bears from here on out is to scout and develop your own talent and it’s be nice to have 8 games to have a final look at Fields before the draft. Like, if Fields ripped off 8 straight excellent games, I’d maybe reassess where things are at with him. But this is just…nothing
  2. Jesus that sucks at least they’re getting slightly more pressure than before
  3. As up and down as Fields has been and as surprising as Bagent has been, I still don’t think it’s particularly close in terms of who’s the better QB. (It’s Fields) ((we still should probably draft one of the qb prospects))
  4. Ok that was an idiotic throw
  5. This Bears offense is looking impressively competent???
  6. Ok time to take that stupid end around out of the playbook
  7. An impressively athletic play from Kmet and a stop by the Bears defense?? What am I watching??
  8. If Poles is unable to sign Sweat to a long term deal I think I might have to take another few years off from paying attention to this team It's not a huge thing in the grand scheme, I mean, but it would be the culmination of tons of really bad dumb decisions. And it would be such an easily avoidable blunder. I'm not even necessarily mad they didn't go after edge rushers the last few years - it takes a long time to build a good roster and I'm OK with them, theoretically, being like 'we're rebuilding, we're focused on developing an offense and a QB, we're not committing a ton of resources to this area of the team for right now', but then they make a deal like this, which is ??? doesn't make any sense.
  9. Man, that Joey Bosa sack is hard to watch on the replay. It may not have mattered given how badly Whitehair was destroyed on the block, but why are you even playfaking on 3rd and 11? Nobody is gonna buy the run there (of course the Bears have inexplicably run on 3rd and long before so ...maybe in their deranged heads defenses will buy it). Good to see a rundown on some of the things Bagent missed - a lot of it wasn't horribly fatal (he's getting some checkdowns instead of big plays), but still, missed things. (A lot of it was horribly fatal though)
  10. Second to having a franchise QB, having a dominant, pressuring defensive line is one of the hardest and most fickle things to have in football, so yeah definitely trade them all The Commanders are making me feel marginally better about being a Bears fan, so i'll give them that
  11. Ok its a tweet and whatever but. Man, I want none of that
  12. This team has gotten weirder and worse
  13. There's no way they make this deal if they don't have a extension already worked out but...I still think its a bad idea to throw your 2nd round pick for him. And losing Jones hurts a ton. I refuse to believe they make this deal if an extension isn't already there...nobody can be that dumb...can they??
  14. Also, Fields not starting again make this one of the most eminently skippable games I can imagine
  15. this year is a disaster of all disasters how the hell do they piss off Jaylon Jones so bad? I mean, I suppose its possible that he asked an astronomical number that made no sense but....otherwise...what the hell??
  16. I'd probably take the 2023 Bears receiving corps over the 2006 one, but its not a wonderful choice. I'd also...probably take Kmet over Desmond Clark, as much as I feel nostalgic for Clark. I also was gonna say I'd take 2006 Grossman over Fields but...man. He was pretty mediocre that year, and that was his best year, lmao. Regarding what the Score is saying about the Bears staff leaking stuff to the NBC broadcast... I dunno I find it hard to believe they're intentionally trying to go scorched earth with Fields and make things worse for them, him and the city. I mean, I guess its possible, but I find it really far-fetched.
  17. I don't think Fields being desperate to prove something is gonna help his play at all. He's at his best when he's pretty calm and collected. I think the best thing to happen for Fields and the Bears is to let him start the final 8 games, hopefully without missing any time, and we get a final good look at him. That's it. I think it's unlikely the Bears don't use on of their top picks on one of the QBs available (they'd be stupid not to), but Fields can make their situation more complicated and that would be good for everyone involved.
  18. This game was really useful in a handful of ways: Obviously it shows you Bagent is just a guy. A guy who could be a very helpful back-up in the league which is valuable, especially if you have a running QB. He didn't look nearly as sharp as he did in Oakland, but he still has a great gameclock and typically feels the pressure really well and either gets the ball out or moves out of it. His decision making is still pretty impressive for a rookie, but his arm isn't there. It is what it is! That's a win for an UDFA. Another big takeaway: You can't play 2005 Bears football in 2023. You simply can't - you have to have the ability to put up 30+ points on any given day. You might be able to beat a bunch of bad teams without QBs, but you can't even compete with a 2-4 Chargers team that has a legit QB and a legit offense. I'm not even that mad at the defense. They didn't play great, but IMO, they didn't even play that badly. And without any pass rush, I can't must anger about tackling or whatever else by the DBs. Whatever, it doesn't matter. If a good QB isn't being touched in the pocket, this is what he's gonna do. This is what the NFL is these days - they've been pushing it in this direction for a couple decades. You don't have to score 30+ every game, but you have to be able to have the ability to put it up in a given game.
  19. This team is remarkable at squandering good will they have one game where they look good and competent and well coached and immediately they go and have a super sloppy messy game
  20. THIS IS NOT A DRILL: THE BEARS HAVE FORCED A PUNT
  21. Not quite sure what Bagent was looking for there
  22. You probably do want to be able to force at least one punt in a game, however
  23. CHICAGO BEARS CHALLENGE: CAN THEY FORCE A PUNT? Y/N?
