  1. As impressive as the run game has been, Bagents gonna have to throw a little bit to win
  2. I’m utterly unimpressed by everything I’ve seen from Bryce Young so far
  3. I will always love how hard Brisker makes tackles
  4. Tackling is horrendous
  5. Lol are the Bears gonna make Young look good
  6. I was just thinking how impressive the OLine has looked
  7. You’re seriously gonna have a false start on a field goal
  8. Bagents accuracy…has left a lot to be desired so far
  9. Uh, well that was terrible
  10. Impressive of Bagent to throw a ball that could have been intercepted by two different defensive backs bears defense playing its “let’s force a third and long and immediately collapse” routine
  11. I'm beginning to feel like them continuing to start Darnell Wright while he has one arm is irresponsible? He's your most important young player on the offensive line and the season is already lost and you're not even starting your QB prospect so... I dunno give the guy some time off. God forbid he re-aggravates the injury and causes further harm to him.
  12. ugh nothing against the kid but thats single-handedly made this the least compelling game of the season
  13. If Fields is so fragile he can't handle learning a new offense over the course of an offseason, something pro QBs do with regularity, then he isn't your franchise QB. Next year would be his 4th year in the league - we shouldn't have to worry about handling him with kid gloves. I don't know why even a mediocre Fields is a bad option for a bridge QB if we draft a 1 or 2 QB? The choices are to trade him (likely for not much value), let him play the final year of his contract, start the rookie, or play the Andy Dalton experience again. I don't want to play the Andy Dalton Experience. I'm totally fine if he makes it a Brees-Rivers situation.
  14. Huh, ok, wasn't expecting this. I'm probably agreeing with most everyone in the thread that this move in-and-of-itself doesn't change too much in the quality of the team but it does signal that the team intends to be competitive and they're going to spend to get there, so I like it. Plus Ross did a bunch of extremely dumb and annoying things, so I'm glad to be done with that (but I am secure in the knowledge that basically every manager will do that)
  15. There are a few stats that I think show something quite telling about the difference between Bagent and Fields and why some (extremely dumb people) might have gotten enamored with Bagent. Pro-Football-Reference keeps a stat called 'Success %' - it measures how often a QB makes a play on 1st down that gets at least 40% of the yardage needed on 1st down, 60% of the yardage needed on 2nd down, and 100% of yardage for 3rd and 4th down. Bagent has a 52.2% success percentage, Fields, in contrast, has a 38.7%. That's really bad. A good QB seems to hover around 50%, give or take a few percentage points. Bagent's 52.2% success percentage is actually up there with the top line QBs ---of course I'm not saying he's playing like a top line QB, I'm drawing a distinction between the two--- Justin Fields' sack per drop back percentage? 12.9%. Tyson Bagent's? 4.3%. This is playing behind the same damn line. Tyson Bagent's completion percentage is 6% higher than Fields. A 14% difference in successful plays is a huge differential. That's a huge chunk of opportunities where Fields is not doing the job while this undrafted kid is. That kid is also turning the ball over faster than hotcakes, but he's facilitating the functioning of an offense that is, when its not turning the ball over lol, significantly more efficient than Fields was. Now, that may come down to a bunch of factors, it could come down to coaching, the offensive line finally gelling, improvements in the run game, etc. But, well, in stark numbers, there's a huge failing right there.
  16. Yeah I definitely don't hate the idea of keeping him around next year if we draft a QB and letting the prospect sit - though it would drive Chicago media and fans insane for about a year. I don't think his trade value is gonna be anything special and I would hate to live through the Mike Glennon, Andy Dalton, etc experience again. I simply cannot fathom a situation where both the Bears and Panthers are too good for one of them to not be in the top 5. Perhaps as I say that a monkey paw is curling somewhere, but I really can't.
  17. Thankfully we're not overly dependent on that! The Panthers will lose for us. Even if Fields plays very well throughout the end of this stretch, this is a team thats 2-7 and can only improve its standing so much. They managed to lose every single game he played well last year, after all. This team is gonna have a top 5 pick no matter what. And very likely two in the top 10.
  18. Here's the real question: What do you do if Fields rolls off 8 games in a row to end the season of the same caliber of play we saw in the Denver and Washington game? Assuming we still have at least one pick in the top 3 (I think thats safe) and one pick in the top 10. Do you still draft one of the QB prospects? Are you obligated to? It would be an extremely Bears thing to happen of course Fake Edit: Actually, the most Bears thing to happen is he doesn't play at quite *that* caliber but a notch below that. He has like 5 good games, 2 meh games and 1 bad game. And you end up feeling...fine, but not great.
  19. I'm actually not too pessimistic about the ability of the team to be competitive shortly - I'm happy with what I'm seeing from the Oline, the run game has been strong, Moore is a stud, Mooney has turned some things around, Kmet has played well, the defense is gelling (and will only get better with more pass rush) - its all down to the QB play, as ever. Which is of course the hardest thing to figure out in this league and the most important thing, so
  20. This is the most boring and uninteresting game in the universe if Bagent starts. If Fields plays at least we can hope to watch him beat up some bums and get back on the right track.
  21. You spin the QB roulette wheel and hope it comes up a jackpot at some point I actually don't think the grousing about Bear QB busts even makes much sense: Except for Mitch Trubisky at 2 (dear god its embarrassing to think about it in hindsight), The Bears have barely spun the wheel. Spin it again, boys.
  22. Maybe I'm crazy but I'm not ever gonna get mad at the CJ Stroud situation. I'm always going to be in favor of maximizing the assets you have, especially after it appeared that Fields took some big strides forward last year, rather than spending multiple picks on the same position and squandering resources. I'm glad they traded down, but it would be unfortunate if Stroud was a generational talent and we missed out on him. But I wouldn't ever really regret the move. Now this year....well. Fields has 8 games to show you something (and if even if he does show you something, you still probably wanna take a QB)
  23. lol I turned the game off and now I see the Bears had like 3 more chances to tie the game and turned it over every time, that’s remarkable
  24. The fun thing is there's such definitive proof this team has bad coaching: How horrifically bad the team is in the 2nd half. They can move the ball and play good defense in the first half but once coaches get to make half time adjustments the team utterly falls apart
  25. nah it was legitimately competitive and the Bears probably "should" have had the lead into the 4th quarter with average luck but so it goes
