Eh, getting both feet down on a play like that is elite level stuff. I have liked flashes from Scott and I'm excited to see how he develops next year He can definitely be A Guy and not a total waste of a pick like Velus Jones is

Damn. Aside from two plays, this team is playing like a playoff team. You gotta feel good about that. I feel so bad for Fields. He's playing well, but I don't think anything he can do can change the decision coming. Still, it's nice to see him balling out. Defense is playing insanely well aside from Eddie Jackson being unable to get off a block for 30 yards. Go Bears.

I think this is right. It’s not about money, it’s that they don’t want to be on the coach carousel every 2-3 years. Oh, Eberflus. On the one hand, he’s one of the worst in-game coaches I’ve ever seen. Important 4th down calls, challenges, time outs and clock management…egregiously bad. His whole gimmick when he wins the coin toss and decides to accept the ball rather than defer? Strictly a negative call, will always cost you points in the long run. These factors alone should be disqualifying. He shouldn’t be the head coach of the chicago bears. The silver lining is that he’s a very good defensive coordinator and his players seem to really like him and play hard for him. So there’s some consolation if he is thrust on us another season. The roster is trending up, and I expect it will only improve next year. This team should compete for a playoff spot next year, even with a rookie QB. But Eberflus will lose you a couple games every year you should win. That’s inexcusable for me, but I’m not the one making decisions.

I doubt there’s any real chance for the Bears to make the playoff but it would be nice for them to feel like they have something to play for in the last week other than The Packers, which I don’t think the players typically really care about that much (nor should they, it’s a fan thing)

They actually reviewed for 12 men on the field in the OSU-Mizzou game last night too (obviously college rules are totally different than pro rules)

This won't be solved until late April so I recommend folks strap in or tune it out. The content creators and radio folks must be stocked to have so much content to mine until then.

What he's doing is wild and absolutely the most captivating story of the year. And it's all the more interesting that if he takes them to a Super Bowl, he's probably cementing his own ticket to the Hall of Fame as well - I'm definitely rooting for them. What a cool story.

IMO, There’s a world of difference between 5’10” and 6’1” in the NFL, and it’s much more significant than the jump from 6’1” to 6’4” is for someone like Fields. (We’ll find out what Williams’s actual height is at the Combine of course), Being that short as an NFL QB is close to disqualifying if you aren’t an otherworldly talent like Brees. I’m not 100% completely amazingly blown away by Caleb Williams, but it does feel like people are going out of their way to look for reasons to not draft him. He’s a better prospect than Fields was in 2021 and we were over the moon to have him.

1. Devin Hester belongs in the Hall of Fame 2. I have completely excised the memory of Jared Allen ever being on the Bears.

The only thing that would outright surprise me is if they run the whole squad back: Fields, Flus and Getsy. I think Eberflus has likely saved his job (which I have major mixed feelings about), but I think it’s more likely than not that Fields is traded and more likely than not Getsy is gone.

I like this OLine if we get a Center honestly. I wouldn’t be upset if we ran into 2024 with Braxton Jones starting, though I think we absolutely could upgrade from there. in my dreams we draft a C a top OT and pick up another guard or tackle in free agency. I don’t think any rookie will get crushed behind this OLine, they’ve played pretty damn well from mid season on. What’s the problem?

The persistence in continuing to go after QBs and not being gunshy until you find the guy that plays well for you (whether it’s because the system works well, or they’re a good fit or whatever) is also well taken. They weren’t afraid to cut bait and not just settle on a guy who was maybe OK but not stellar for them.

The amount of disrespect Brock Purdy has received around the country is wild. Dude is having, even after factoring his disastrous MNF game, at worst the 2nd best season of QBs this year. People penalize him for playing on the best team in the league. Ok. Go watch some tape of him. Imagine Tyson Bagent making the throws he makes - particularly the 20+ in the air throws, which he's had more success in doing than anyone else in the league.

Why do we go back to Marino? Roethlisberger went to an AFC Championship as a rookie and won as a 2nd year player. Just looking at who's around the league - Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield, Justin Herbert and notably, CJ Stroud all had incredibly good rookie seasons that led their teams to be competitive. Stroud specifically has a worse roster around him than what a Bears rookie would. It wouldn't be ideal but it doesn't mean the team won't be playoff competitive by default.

If “Franchise QB” is defined as “(typically white) guy who stands still and throws a lot” then yeah… but I don’t define it that way? I define it as “cornerstone effective player I don’t mind giving a contract that’s worth >20 mill a year for”. So Lamar Jackson is absolutely a franchise QB. Tua and Hurts are knocking on the door of it. Brock Purdy hasn’t shown enough to say yes or no but he’s having a season currently that’s better than any Bears QB in history. all the guys mentioned, aside from the Browns QB situation, are significantly better than Justin Fields.

Bears fans (and executives for that matter) cannot live in fear that they end up looking stupid if they make the move with the highest chance of success and it ends up going the wrong way for them. This happens. It’s inevitable and unavoidable. Making moves to avoid looking stupid is the same principle that leads to coaches coaching games not to lose, etc. it’s very possible the Bears trade Fields and he has success elsewhere and the QB they pick bust. It’s possible Fields succeeds and the new Bears QB succeeds. It’s possible, in a scenario a lot of people don’t even consider, that Fields sucks in a new spot AND the new Bears QB sucks. You make the move that makes the most sense to have long term superbowl competitiveness. And wherever Fields goes, barring him landing in the NFC North, I’ll be rooting for him, because he’s a good dude.

On the one hand, it would be nice to finish the season respectably, finish 8-9 and beat the packers. On the other hand, I bet the Bears would keep Eberflus another year if they do that. so, tough call
