  1. Actually the low is 138 on June 23 with Cubs (Marmol) vs Twins (Santana) I wasn't being literal...
  2. This is sad and pathetic. Only 10 pages for a Zambrano game? And he pitched masterfully, to boot. Its a new low.
  3. It's hard to over-rate when you have the most yardage from scrimmage by a RB, most rushing yards, and most rushing TD's. Saying Smith is over-rated would be the same as saying Hank Aaron is over-rated. You can do it, but it's pretty ridiculous. Hank Aaron is overrated. He had incredible longevity and consistency, but he never had ridiculous years like Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, etc. had. I don't think he ever had more than ~45 homers in a season, not saying thats not great, but he isn't the best home run hitter of all time. Just for some comparison, Aaron had 40 more homers than Babe Ruth in 4,000 more at bats. BTW, just to add to the discussion, Payton is the best, end of discussion. C'mon, Emmitt Smith isn't better, don't be ridiculous. And by what metric do you support this? I'm not being ridiculous. Smith: #1 Rushing TD's. Smith: #1 Rushing yards. Smith: #1 Yards from scrimmage by a RB. Smith: #1 TD's by a RB. He was the most productive RB in the history of the NFL. Sure that was due to longevitiy which should be a credit to him. Look at the average career of an NFL running back. The fact that Smith showed the toughness to stick it out and be productive through all those seasons is a testament to his greatness. The same could be said about Aaron in baseball. He was remarkably consistent in hitting HR's. Whether or not he is the greatest HR hitter, I'm not sure, but he certainly isn't overrated. So if someone rated Aaron as the greatest HR hitter, what would he be?[/b] I would say someone could say that Aaron is the greatest HR hitter of all time and be fully justified in that opinion. LKASD;LKFJASD;LKJF;LASDKJF SDAFJ;LKASDJF;LASKDJLFJASF COPY PASTED FROM MY PREVIOUS POST: I'd like to address this. Of course Aaron should be in the discussion, but is he the best all time? Listen, he had 40 more home runs than Babe Ruth. In terms of raw numbers, he had more home runs. But he also accomplished this in 4,000 more at bats. So is he really the best all time? I mean, its the same with some of these running backs and Emmitt Smith, in my opinion. Yes, in terms of raw totals, he has the market cornered...but he also played much much longer and thus had less "impact" seasons, and not to knock Emmitt, but for all that longevity and consistency, it sure took him a long time to crack those records. _________________
  4. It would be hilarious if the Cubs offered him a deal. and sad.

  6. Crappy-Starter-Mark-Mulder hit the DL. It'll be a couple weeks before Mulder can give up 15 more runs each start.
  7. From what I read, the final ballot is selected by MLB from the pool of players who received the most votes on the player's ballots, but did not make the team. Statistically, AJP is the second best starting offensive catcher in the AL, by any measure, and is having a better season than the fan's choice. He was also on the 2002 AL AS team, selected by Joe Torre, during a lesser season than he is having now. I agree Hafner and Liriano should be on the ballot, but why the assumption that Liriano should be on the team? Liriano wasn't even a starting pitcher until seven weeks ago, and so far has only started against three teams in his own league- Seattle, Baltimore and LA Angels, all of which are at the bottom of the AL in offense. Throw in his NL starts, and he's only pitched against one team with an above average offense. I agree he will probably be an All Star in the future, but why not let him actually pitch around the league once or twice to prove it first? I wish our pitchers could do that well against middling NL offenses.
  8. He had 2 RBI well into June.
  9. He's a second basemen. He's gotta bat second.
  10. Trick question, if Baker is fired, the new manager would refuse to play Neifi so its not hard at all.

  12. I had trouble following it. I didn't even understand what he was talking about. I question his command of the English language.
  13. I called this back on Jun-29. That Pierre will have a very good second half once dlee was back. He let his injury get to his head (IE: slumps when he doesn't have as many good hitters around him, because he tries too hard and slumps). He was doing bad before DLee got hurt.
  14. But we needed to dump Corey's salary in order to resign Neifi... Because Neifi saved us in 2005... ...from a .500 record.
  15. Joe Crede is a bad example because, well, he's a bad baseball player. And the Sox have a better 3b in the minors to boot.
  16. I detect sarcasm. As I stated, I'm not going to debate Notre Dame all the time. I have my point of view and that's not going to be changed anytime soon. Who is your team Slugger? We can discuss them instead? Notre Dame? More like Notre Shame! (heckling) Anyway, who's the team to beat in the SEC now?
  17. Wait We are gonna get both the Wallaces? This is gonna get interseting fast. EDIT: I just realized I pluralized something with an apostrophe, I feel so stupid.
  18. I have very mixed feelings of this. Our frontcourt is going to have very little offense. Imagine if we trotted out a lineup of Hinrich- Gordon - Wallace (PF) - Chandler -Thomas Ugh. Or imagine if we trotted out a lineup of Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, Wallace. SWEET Then we are paying a lot of money for a lineup that has no one taller than 6'9'' What do we do with Chandler?

  20. My GAWD. They've got the CPatt bunting now too? Oh my God man this entire coaching staff has got to GO. Now! Wow. Just what we needed, more salt in our wounds. After the CPatt trade went down some friends of mine who are Cardinal fans told me CPatt would flourish away from the Cubs - not probably, but would. They said they never saw a more classic example of a guy who needed a change of scenery. I vehemently disagreed ("he seems to be uncoachable", "no plate discipline whatsoever", "waste of natural talent", etc.) And now I'm sort of eating crow. He still has no plate discipline, he'll be hitting .270 with an OBP of .300 by the end of the year.
  21. Go Illinois! I'll be attending in the fall....not that my presence there will give them any hope. I'm also an Ohio State fan, but everyone hates them. Hopefully the loss of the back 7 wont hurt them too much...but it will, and they will start off hot and somehow lose to Indiana or something, destroying their chances for the Fiesta Bowl.
  22. POOOOOOOOOOR-TUUUUUUUUU-GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
  23. The NFL is 1000000000x more entertaining than the NBA, its not even funny. I can't wait for Bears camp.
  24. Why is that bad? I'd like to see him hit for the cycle too. Because I should have been rooting for a homerun and the lead. It'll be less disappointing when the Sox beat us in the 9th by breaking the tie, rather than beat us in the 9th while down a run. I'm still pissed off that the Sox didn't score last inning. I must be freaking clairvoyant or something jesus christ how did i see this happening? Worst part: Vazquez didn't get a victory. I'm so pissed right now. Its the exact worst scenario for me. I hate you baseball gods.
  25. Who somehow garners more respect from his peers.
