    I'm gonna jump on this bandwagon. You gotta give props to a team that can be competitive with a 15 million dollar payroll. Imagine that team if they can hold on to some of their youngsters and sign some free agents. 3 world series championships for that young organization? Makes the Cubs look really bad.

    I root for the A's because I like Billy Beane and I like the philosophies they employ over there. That and Nick Swisher is dreamy.

And that last sentence in what I quoted makes zero sense given what we've seen time and time again when someone seemingly dares to even think of mentioning the White Sox on this board. And having Mabry in your sig, under the reasoning you gave us, is ridiculous. Career-wise, Mabry has been a very solid bench player. He only got additional playing time when Lee was injured...other than that, we've seen him about as much as you'd expect to see a pinch hitter or guy subbing for someone hurt/have a day off. Pagan is infinitely more deserving to be up there with the time he's robbed Murton of thus far, thought neither he nor Mabry are even close to Neifi/Rusch-esque levels. If you have ever read Moneyball, you have more than enough reason to hate John Mabry. The guy is a dick.

    the new, streamilined answer to the question posed in the title of the thread...be the opposition when he starts the ballgame. that rotation has gone from "five number 1's" to "a number 2 and four number 5's" rather quickly. And that number 2 is Jon Garland. Ouch.

    God damnit, I thought playing Theriot at 2nd base would guarantee him the second spot in the lineup. He gives us infinite more offensive capabilities than Perez. I'm so pissed off.

    Terrible, he's hit like .220/.300/.450 since that first tear during the beginning of the season. He's literally hit like 3 homers since the first 9.

    Did a little mining this morning, I certainly wish the Cubs looked as old as the Yankees do right now! :lol: BCB If the season ended today, even with their recent hot streak, they would not be in the playoffs. Either way, they are getting old. They're only 0.5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East (tied in the loss column) and only 2.5 games behind the White Sox in the Wild Card (2 back in the loss column). They're definately not done yet. no, but they are getting old. when was the last time anyone questioned if they would be in the playoffs in late july? I'm surprised we might be talking about the BRAVES back in the postseason, along with the ANGELS! This has been a whacky season. I can only hope the A's hold on, and thats something they aren't used to. They like looking up at teams in the standings and nipping them in the butt...not holding off teams.

If there is a God, the Pack will have to go through a few more years of bad football before being good again-------just like everyone else. I think they'll be bad at least another 2-3 years. At least.
