  1. The fact that Zambrano went from 59 to 97 in that at bat amazes me God I love him so much :D
  2. 96 MPH vs. Jim Edmonds doesn't end in the Cubs favor, ever
  3. 1 run is good multiple runs are better dunn is still lurking
  4. I guess we just have to wait until Cueto hits the bench or Dusty rides him to 130 pitches We know what its going to be dont we?
  5. Wow I'm so glad Zambrano had a couple weeks off, he's looking tight and awesome (I didn't see the inning where they scored however) Can we get some runs you idiots
  6. I know Nomar got one from 2004 so I think yes
  7. This statement to me, says that he is trying to give Cards fans hope that they are still in it for the long haul. But in turn, all this statement is....is false hope. To call LaRussa the "best manager" is ridiculous. LaRussa might be the MOST OVERRATED MANAGER this side of Joe Torre and Bobby Cox. wait so if larussa, torre and cox are overrated, then who the hell is a good manager? I fall in line with the Baseball Prospectus way of looking at things There are no good managers, only ones who screw up less than others. (Cox is among those, don't know why he's catching much flak here) Torre and La Russa are borderline terrible.
  8. I always loved his MLB picture, he always made that goofy smile God speed Gallagher, you'll have a lot of success in this league. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled a Greg Maddux on us.
  9. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080708&content_id=3092033&vkey=news_oak&fext=.jsp&c_id=oak I'm a bit surprised they're not bringing Murton to the mlb club. Like I said earlier, the A's have about 85 OFs. I assume Beane will send feelers out on Emil Brown, DFA him if he can't get a deal done in the next couple days and then bring Murton up. After Emil Brown they have Gonzalez, Cust, Sweeney, Davis, not to mention Denorfia and Buck who will probably be back up soon. I'm pretty sure this is their depth chart: Gonzalez and Davis platoon in CF Sweeney in RF Cust and Brown in LF Assuming Buck and Denorfia return soon and Thomas is done, the smartest thing would be to get rid of Brown and Davis. Platoon Cust and Bankston at DH. Start Buck, Gonzalez, and Sweeney agasint righties in the OF and mix Murton and Denorfia in against lefties. With Buck and Gonzalez being able to play CF, Murton will probably end up a full time starter over Sweeney after he cools off. But if Thomas does come back, Murton isn't one of the 3 best OFs on the A's. Of course, he should actually get a chance when one of the starters goes down, unlike here. Sooooo many of those players barely qualify as major league players, they really need some people that can up non-negative VORP
  10. free ride? are you kidding we yell at him every time he does it now maybe no one in the chicago media rips him for it, but we notice
  11. Yeah seriously, lets not get carried away here we haven't even secured a playoff spot yet
  12. it's really not. We give up one clearly major league level player for 2 even at a basic level its very low risk. I would have done the trade without Gaudin, but with him thrown in its like we don't even lose Gallagher's production at all
  13. I imagine that won't come as cheap as Harden did We might need it to sprinkle ON Harden
  14. Depends if you count Puerto Rico as US territory or not
  15. Everyone thank Howry for reminding Lou and Hendry that he's really not the third best arm in the bullpen Hopefully Gaudin can solve
  16. How unjust would it be to be Lieber, pretty much do everything the team has asked of you (other than one DISASTROUS start against Cincy) and get DFA'd before Marquis?
  17. As long as he doens't trot out Marmol again next inning its not a disaster
  18. Dempster bounced back from that bases loaded walk with some mean ball hurling hasn't allowed a baserunner since then, in fact
  19. Fontenot's range is looking as good as his bat today
  20. This guy's breaking stuff is really breaking a lot though, I guess he's fooling a lot of our hitters Fooling Bako too
