  1. Now wouldn't be a bad time to put in Marmol if the guy scores he scores, you need some K's
  2. just wanted to drop in and say uggla needs to go and die
  3. I can't believe, you of all people, didn't recognize the Eephus
  4. Jeter actually misapplied that tag, another bad play by the jeter man
  5. Boy I sure hope Z doesn't get embarrassed in the all star game
  6. Whenever I watch Sheets pitch I want him on my team
  7. Good move. Now pull the trigger on Chris Simms and we can move our offense from 'terrible' to just 'below average bad'
  8. If that goes back to being a strict platoon when Soriano gets back, it should be fine. Edmonds may not OPS .900 against RHP all year, but he should be good for .750+, which is adequate enough. RJ is a fairly productive hitter against lefties. I agree but what worries me is how well Sori will come back from his injury. If he's back and doing his thing what you wrote is fine but if he isn't, what the Cubs have now imo won't win it all. More production is needed out of left and DeRosa/Johnson/Ward don't do it for me. The truth is, the chance of the best team going into the playoffs winning the World Series is only marginally better than the worst playoff team's chances. I only bring this up because it is a huge pet peeve of mine when anyone plays the "they won't have enough to win it all" card. If you're in the playoffs, you have enough to win it all. It's not romantic, it's not what everyone wants to hear, but it's pretty much the truth. There are a few things you can do to improve your chances...having a very strong top 3 starters, a very good back end of the bullpen (uh oh, was looking good at the beginning now...who knows), good defense ( :( )....
  9. You need to keep this in a word file and just copy paste it whenever someone wakes up again with this issue
  10. Ryan Braun breaks his wrist on a bases loaded HBP and Ben Sheets throws a 150 pitch CG 1-0 shutout. better throw in some injuries to cardinals too, just for some security
  11. If the Bulls match, they automatically get him back? Any word on the length of the contract? I know I'm in the minority, but I hope the Bulls don't match that. I'm curious on this, whys that?
  12. I remember the last time we said that, in 2004. Wood Prior Zambrano Clement Maddux You act like its any less true now then when you said it? :?: All healthy and in their prime it was.
  13. Remember when Abreu hit like 30 one year, and then hit like 8 home runs the rest of the season? Theres something fishy about the Derby
  14. Pretty much the only thing I want is to figure out one way to get Marquis either out of the rotation or off teh Cubs for ever. Whatever we fetch for him, if nothing other than paying his contract for the next year and half, is fine by me. Put Marshall in the rotation, and bam, one of the best rotations in the history of the 5 man rotation.
  15. please don't use marmol in this game the boy needs rest
  16. Arguing about who should lead off is akin to arguing what color sprinkles you want on your ice cream Soriano coming back makes our offense scary good, whether he leads off or bats 9th. It puts 8 hitters in the lineup every day that are all, at the very least, competent hitters, which is incredible.
  17. Yeah, we're trotting out a fairly punchless (for the Cubs) lineup against possibly the best pitcher in the National League (no its not an intra-squad game :-" ) Surprise me, Cubs. Please tell me Reed is in Center as opposed to Edmonds EDIT: Eurgh why does Lou insist on playing the defensively challenged Edmonds over Reed in Center?
  18. Hmmm interesting bunt discussion Lets lambast Lou more for his use of Marmol plz Or should that go in Rants?
  19. I'm glad I went to work and missed most of the 5 run lead blowing by Marmol You gotta take him out after it becomes 7-5, jesus Oh well ,we win, and Marmol gets some much needed rest. I hope this is the last straw for Lou and he starts using Marmol less, but not Mike-Wuertz-less. This is 8000000x better than the loss when Wood was pitching against the Cardinals, so theres that.
  20. oh god damnit yep here is where we lose the game
  21. Jason Marquis at 62 pitches through 5 and a third  Maybe Ronnie was right and Marquis got his rough patch behind him and will now have his 'good' April and May months in the middle of the year
