  1. Nthing the better shape thing. I wouldn't have said Dempster was fat before, but he looks like he's lost about 20 pounds from last year. Same thing with Ramirez, he also looks like he's slimmed down and added some muscle.
  2. Though this probably wasn't in line with their actual thinking, its smart of them to actually add talent to a team that is somewhat in lack of it. (at least offensively) Now they are truly a force to be reckoned with. There was a reason why Oakland's playoff chances were up there for a few months (though they have completely gone away now).
  3. He probably didn't even start switch hitting because he felt some sort of natural tendency to, he probably just figured it would annoy opposing pitchers and just generally be more fun. I don't remember Z pitching in 02, but I remember him being one of my favorite parts of the 03 season, cemented by that game-tying HR late in the game in Houston. On the good or the crappy teams since, he has consistently been the best part of it all. He even made 06 somewhat enjoyable because every other start of his seemed to be him toying with a no-hitter
  4. I'd love if we pound him like we pounded Sheets, except earlier in the game so its not in doubt as long. Serve up 8 or 9 runs, plz.
  5. Good. Stay down as long as possible. It'll be awesome if the Cardinals are something ridiculous like 8 games out by the end of August. I don't want to hear about them again this season.
  6. As minute a chance it would be for them to lose the division, it would be hilarious to see them fall to the Twins. The Twins are incredibly mediocre, yet overplaying their own projected Win/Loss greatly. Imagine how good they'd actually be if they kept Santana and upgraded Liriano to the majors?
  7. Well, he did figure out how to strike people out in the past month or so. That said, the KRod/Joba comparisons are extremely premature. I just hope this doesn't set up another CPatt type of thing. All these high hopes and he turns out to be average and ends up being another whipping boy because he isn't a lights out reliever. I'm going to let you in on a secret Corey Patterson is way worse than average
  8. Well, he did figure out how to strike people out in the past month or so. That said, the KRod/Joba comparisons are extremely premature. I think most people will just take Not-Howry I mean is that too much to ask?
  9. Even though there were some heartbreaking moments, none of it really hurt as much as I would have expected it to be. Lets win tomorrow and guarantee ourselves the lead by the end of the series
  10. Coulda been bases loaded no outs if Fukudome didn't flail at a horrible pitch oh well
  11. get a run get three outs it shouldn't be that hard
  12. So you'd rather have Howry face the middle of the order? Exactly...he gave a HR to Russell Branyan for Christ's sake. I'd rather Howry not be on the rubber in a cubs uniform ever again
  13. It won't be that simple. It'll be a bases-loaded, routine fly ball to Soriano that he'll drop. He did that once. Sure did. :( it wasn't bases loaded, it was a guy on FIRST with 2 outs the fact that he scored on it was mildly surprising to me
  14. lol with our offense? no it'll go 15 into we lose on a bases loaded walk
  15. It really boggles my mind why they hadn't used Gaudin last inning
  16. Lou has put too much trust in the guy He needs to be DFA'd before he can do us anymore harm
  17. Boy I love Soriano, Sabathia was trying his hardest to walk him and he refused to take it That love hate relationship continues
  18. Eyre was released? Jesus, that is a shock. I meant in the possible alternate future were it might happen
  19. Someone explain the justification for the release of Eyre, who's been great and fantastic against lefties, when we still have Howry who is int eh last year of his contract? Complete puzzlement
  20. Today's horrible start notwithstanding, him and Lilly are pretty much a wash. I don't trust Lilly against the mashing Brewers, how many homers is Braun going to hit? 3?
  21. wow what a legit good catch by edmonds
  22. The fact that Jeff is getting a head of hitters is awesome, and I'm glad he doesn't nibble like some of our guys (Marquis)
