    My perfect solution, if we have to change it from “indefinitely long extra innings until someone ends the inning with a lead” is: there’s a 10th inning which has the exact same rules as the 9th inning, and if nobody has taken the lead after 10, it’s a tie.

    I honestly dislike the ghost runner extra innings things enough that I’d prefer they just bring back ties

    God I can't wait for the season to start. The wait between NFL seasons is absolutely the most mind-numbing of any major sport. Made all the worse by the change of coaching staff and anxiously anticipating Caleb's progression.

    I don’t like sweating about other teams in a pennant race too much but good god are the Brewers annoying. They never let up, they never make things easy, and they refuse to lose to better teams. of course if the Cubs continue playing like they have all season we’ll win the division and get a bye… but damn is this annoying. I guess the best thing you can say is it forces the Cubs to not let up and keep the pressure up. Is that good? I have no idea

    I'm never a person to suggest that we leave a poor hitter in a position for no reason, but I will say there's possibly no lineup in the MLB that is better position right now to absorb having Matt Shaw figure it out for a few months

    That 2008 squad was so much fun. Too bad about the playoffs. Sometimes in the wake of 2016 I totally forget those 2007-2008 teams that made me so happy.

    Our position players are having insanely good seasons - so much so that someone like Dansby Swanson, a hitting shortstop, itself a rare commodity in the league, is the player we grouch about the most and he has a 109 OPS+ I also tend to downplay how offensively impressive a season we're having because I came of age during the "Steroid" Era and a period of baseball that was a much friendlier run environment. When I was a wee lad an .800 OPS was about a 100 OPS+ and I find it upsetting that a .700 OPS can be above average.
