  1. I personally don’t appreciate just how old Rich Hill looks given I saw his first ever start on tv (I was 16 of course)
  2. Nobody is going to respect the Bears until they give a reason to during the regular season. And everyone is right to be skeptical. The Bears are constantly disappointing and rarely live up to our hopes and dreams. And that’s fine, who cares. i think they’ll be significantly better this year but I don’t begrudge a single fan or commentator who doesn’t see it. Why should they?
  3. I don’t know what a “WS caliber” roster really means honestly. There are teams that qualify for the playoffs, and there are teams that win the World Series, and you can better position yourself in the postseason, but only somewhat. The best teams in the league only win around 60% of the time. That’s just baseball buddy.
  4. But also, I’ll always have a fondness for Rich Hill and I’m saddened we didn’t get to enjoy his best years with us. There’s few things as fun in baseball as a lefty with a big fat curveball. That’s just pure baseball my friends.
  5. Ok, I like getting hysterical in game threads. It’s how I blow off steam. I think it’s fun. but characterizing this team as “barely squeaking into the playoffs” is laughable. The team, this very moment, glides into the playoffs easily and with confidence and only doesn’t get a bye because the best record in baseball is one win ahead of them. Grow up.
  6. Huh. Well the last 24 hours have gone about as poorly as could be expected short of a major injury. So there’s that.
  7. *smacks Cubs team on the nose with a rolled up newspaper* bad baseball team! bad!
  8. i know i tried to mentally will this team into winning last night and in return i got them.... losing by 4 more runs, but once again, I implore you: this is the kind of game good teams lose, but the kind that great teams figure out how to win. Beat this garbo team! You can do it!
  9. This is the kind of game that makes me want to DFA someone out of disgust and revenge
  10. Oh my god Mr Brown stop ruining things for my beautiful cubbies. This is NOT nice of you
  11. Really happy for Shaw. By a Herculean effort he has raised his OPS above .600. Kudos, brother
  12. I don't follow these things too closely but is Javier Assad totally off the table to think he could start at all this season/post-season? The best we could expect is him pitching in relief?
  13. The Sun rises in the East and set in the West, we live, and we die, and the most dependable thing you can set your watch to is that the Cardinals will have some bum middle infielder put up a 120 OPS+ and turn to dust the second he goes somewhere else So it is written, so it will be done
  14. The Vaunted Brewers will never piss me off as much as Cardinals Pixie Dust. But give it another 20 years and maybe it will.
  15. We're playing a couple blah teams coming up, so I hope they make some hay before that Brewers series
  16. Weird thread where everyone was arguing about Pressley when they team had 47 baserunners and only managed to score one run
  17. This is the kind of game good teams lose. It’s also the kind of game great teams figure out how to win. The choice is yours, Cubs.
  18. Oh my god I’m so angry because I was just about to post “this is 100% the type of game we lose because we left way too many runs on the field” and there it is
  19. Guys I'm not sure Justin Turner is actually a Major League player anymore We have at least 2 guys on the regular roster who I'm not positive should be in the Major Leagues, surely we can do something about that
  20. I don't want to pick on Swanson too much because he's been really good and has been moderately better with runners in scoring position lately but that was the worst at bat with a runner on 2nd I've ever seen (by a guy who can actually hit, and not like, a pitcher)
  21. Cade’s been really good the last month or so - very impressed with how he’s hung in there when it’s been difficult that should be his day and we should scratch a few more across
  22. I’m not gonna sweat it too much but man, I guess the brewers aren’t gonna lose a single game to the Dodgers huh? That’s wild
