  1. I hate the Red Sox just as much as the Yankees. Oh crap, I just realized that the backlash to all these signings will be 800,000 more annoying Red Sox bandwagoners declaring them "giant-killers" and rooting for them over the Yankees crap.
  2. The Yankees are doing everything in their power to retain their title of "ridiculous ostentious display of wealth"
  3. I don't think the Bears will be winning any playoff games if they win the division. Just sayin' Yeah, it's not like they could ever play an NFC playoff team close like Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa, Philly, or Minnesota. At this point in the season? The Offense hasn't showed much of anything in about 4-5 weeks. Frustratingly enough, its only been recently that the defense has shown that it even cares, I guess we can never get a full season of good play out of all 53 players. So yeah, I agree unironically with what you said (I blame Ron Turner for everything) The Bears are not a bad team, or even an inconsistent team. Their overall variance is 6th overall, meaning they've been a very consistent team week in, week out. They beat Philly earlier in the year when they were slightly outplayed. They should've beat Atlanta in Atlanta earlier in the year when they slightly outplayed them. They outplayed Carolina in week 2 only to fall apart in the 4th quarter. They outplayed Tampa and fell apart the last two minutes. Heck, they outplayed New Orleans through 3 quarters and let them back into that game, too. Outside the Giants, the only team that really outclasses the Bears is the Eagles. Are we working with some Football Outsider's DVOA stats here? Also, you can't easily explain away why we got so horribly outplayed at Minnesota and Green Bay. That was just embarrassing.

  6. Wow. Ye of little faith. I understand that this game is not in Chicago, but the Bears just beat two top 10 passing attacks in the last 2 weeks. And while Houston is 5th best in passing yardage, their 2 headed QB leads the league w/ 20 INTs. I'm not sure what the Bears are going to do with Andre Johnson, but there's more than 1 phase to the game. Houston is bottom 1/4 in run D. Despite having a favorable matchup w/ Mario Williams vs. JSC, they have the 4th fewest sacks in the league. This is not a game the Bears should lose. Not to say it won't be difficult. But if the Bears stop Slaton and the ground game and make Houston 1-dimensional, they should win by a TD. I gotta say, in the last two weeks, the Bears defense has played pretty darn well. Considering how the offense hasn't given them any favors, they've done fine. I hate giving up 3rd and 12 conversions over and over again but, bleh oh well.
  7. I'm just happy the Bears have something to play for in the last week of the season, and heh, if we're going to have some horrible improbable victory in which we played TERRIBLY, it might as well have been against the Packers. I'd love to see Orton bounce back and play up to his first half of the season level of play, he's really had a tough going after that injury, and his receivers aren't doing him any favors. Just go out there and play hard boys.
  8. The first time I got Madden for PS2, I realized how easy it is to not see that dang LB. I told him to loft the ball damnit!!! :x Ah, precision passing, one of the more difficult things to master, IMO, and I'm a casual player. My friends always laugh at me and talk about how easy it is to put the ball where you want it, but whenever I try to do it the pass is either over-exaggeratedly lofted or incredibly short.
  9. at least we won too bad we shot ourselves in the foot in no less than 3 games and got curbed stomped by our 2 rivals in incredibly important games and we don't really control our destiny. I don't want to sound like i'm whining and moaning but its really upsetting to see Orton, who seemed to have made great strides, regress like this. (Its still probably injury related, also influenced by just how gosh damn bad our receivers are )
  10. Good lord, just like in 2006, our offense came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and then completely faded down the stretch. We only had 212 yards in regulation. No joke, its Fire Turner time.
  11. The Bears and Cubs make me long for being born in a different state
  12. Why are we assuming we get Milton Bradley, I'd say the chances we get him at all are incredibly low. From what I've heard he's only suitable for DH because he can't play the field anymore. Our lineup without DeRosa is not very impressive, especially with some of our older guys tacking another year on. I don't see the gigantic need to add another starter at that cost.
  13. Glad we get a week to rest up. I still feel like the Lions will beat us in some stupid way, but if Orlovsky keeps playing as poorly as he has I'm not sure what we can fear. Titans scare me, (Obviously a 6-0 team should scare anyone) but they exacerbate our issues on offense and defense. They got a mad good running game, and their defensive line is fantastic and our mashed up offensive line wont be able to handle them.
  14. Kyle Orton has shown that he actually deserves to be a starting quarterback its pretty impressive. Its just a shame we don't 5 or 6 wins right now. Really frustrating. And its also a pain to see our defense completely fall apart. Would also like to see our O-line give Forte some more holes.
  15. Patriots dynasty was cool to me because they were such good teams. The Red Sox are certainly a good group of players but the complete amount of crazy bandwagoners has ruined the good feelings I would ahve for them. I hope they lose badly, but of course they'll win and then beat the Phillies.
  16. Meph's right, though. The only type of player to have exaggerated splits are certain types of lefties, and thats possibly a case of a self-fulfilling prophecy anyway. If young lefty hitters are expected to do poorly against lefty pitchers and are consistently taken out of games or not given opportunities they never will learn how to hit lefties and thus, turn out to be bad against lefties.
  17. Hey everyone, took a couple days off the board wanted to see how you all were doing. Hmm, thats interesting... oh... oh... Pretty much what I expected. :(
  18. I wont be watching. In fact I haven't really watched more than 5 or 6 combined innings of the previous 2 playoff games. If they force a game 5 I might flip it on for a bit.
  19. what difference does it make, the man is the new "4-3" pierre, he can't lift the ball out of the infield anymore
  20. We couuld offer them everyone in our farm system and it probably wouldn't be accepted thats how bad our farm system is right now
  21. you know its a bad day when you can get 2 grand slams and still lose
  22. Harden and Dempster were significant upgrades
  23. Gotta say, this is way more preferable than 2003 Honestly, I almost want to thank them for not getting my hopes up too much.
  24. Way ahead of you. I'm already looking forward to winter meetings! The only way I'll be looking forward to the winter meeting is if Hendry dumps most of the gutless a-holes on this team. argh screw you guys for winning 97 games
  25. even if we were to come back and take this series theres no way we'd make it to the world series let alone win it just let all the depression sink in at least the brewers and sox aren't probably going anywhere
