  1. I'm so so so so happy its not Cleveland - LA I just love it when the predetermined media champions go down, especially in flames like the Cavs did. (For example, I looooooved when Peyton Manning would lose in the playoffs every year, year after year the Colts would be picked by everyone to win the superbowl and each year they'd fall apart, it was wonderful. Then he beat my Bears and :( )
  2. Not surprisingly, the one game where they really make a point to give Howard the ball he goes off and completely dominates the game I hate to say it because I don't like players publicly call out their coaches, but he was completely right in demanding the ball. Now that he can seemingly make free throws at a good percentage, he's gonna be unstoppable. Still think they don't match up extraordinarily well with the Lakers though, should be an interesting series. The first few games will really show us what to expect.
  3. I can't really believe how this isn't the worst team in the majors they are certainly playing like it remember when I made my 2004 prediction? This is much more liek 2005 or 2006
  4. i really really really hate juan pierre he completely sucked when he was with us and then every time he's played us since he's destroyed us
  5. having experienced both the kind of team that scores at will and can't stop the opposition vs. a team that doesn't score runs but doesn't allow the other team to score much it is much much much more painful to be the latter
  6. The only thing that could have made me feel better after that Cubs loss was to see Lebron lose and to experience the shadenfreude of him being upset the sports gods couldn't even give me that, they are worthless and are false gods
  7. This team is a lot less talented on offense than last years team mostly from weird (but possibly predictable) declines in Fontenot, Soto and Lee Loss of Ramirez is pretty tough too. Yeah this team is pretty mediocre. Time will tell if they come around but even if they start playing the way they 'should' combined with the pretty bleh bullpen we might be in for a tough year. I'm fully expecting 2004, so buckle up guys.
  8. the only thing that can make me feel better would be for the Cavs to lose
  9. that was an epic fake rally you almost have to marvel at the beauty of it i...admire its simplicity
  10. dont screw this up at least tie it, you jerks
  11. Very very odd move by Torre lets make him pay for it
  12. I'll be the bigger man here and admit I must be wrong But damn does it seem like it, the eyes and our brains can deceive us
  13. but...but...my anecdotal evidence!
  14. I've always had a hunch that a majority of his walks are taken when there aren't RISP's. He doesn't seem to mind working the count and taking a walk in those situations, but when there are RBI opportunities, he gets super aggressive and swings at horrible pitches. He will still sometimes take pitches, but only to get ahead in the count in order to increase the probability of him getting a hittable pitch. If he gets a 2-0 count, he'll just start flaling away at anything to avoid walking. I hate to buy into conventional 'baseball' knowledge about how certain players are better in the 'clutch' but it applies so strongly to Soriano. The man literally will hack away if theres a runner on base, leading off he isn't so terrible, he'll take a pitch or two, but he's absolutely brutal if theres anyone close to scoring.
  15. I'm in disbelief literally, the only thought going through my head as teh cubs got 2 on and no out was "Soriano K, Theriot GIDP" and thats exactly what happened
  16. Soriano is so bad with runners on base he just swings at everything
  17. see, Bobby Scales still has value
  18. i gotta say, I don't feel that bad about this loss i think the Cubs have finally numbed me. I'm positive Randy Wells will never win a game in a Cubs uniform. Its become impossible.
  19. I'm fine with Bradley I don't really care what his season BA is really after that beginnign cold streak he's doing fine now
  20. I can't conceive of a situation in this game in which we score runs, much less advance a runner to third base
  21. score some runs you idiots, god damn
  22. if this particular Cubs team doesn't make the playoffs I'm giving up followign them for at least a few years we'd have to start rebuilding and the bloated contracts of some of our less worthwhile players will hold us back for a while, it'll be pretty brutal. This is a pretty make or break year.
  23. somebody hit a donger I dont want to watch this game in extras
  24. I am completely confident that we will lose this game now
