  1. I still never understood the hate for Aramis, who played at just a nudge below HOF level for the Cubs for like 10 years He's still the only player i ever bought a shir-sey of, and I'm glad he's still had some success in the MLB. The criticisms of his "hustle" strikes me just as strangely immaterial of the "Castro doesn't have his head in the game" stuff. I couldn't care one iota about either of those impossible to prove criticisms, I care if they hit or not.
  2. Here's hoping Dan Haren's Old Man Magic of keeping the least amount of Baserunners from scoring continues I'm sure he's going to regress to the mean at least a little bit but at least he's not Dallas Beeler
  3. This stat is so bananas. If this team had a slightly better than average offense it would be one of the best in the league.
  4. Hit a donger and end this game, please
  5. Has Arrieta still only faced the minimum so far? Lol
  6. The part of me that hadn't completely rejected Castro and was prepared for a life without him at Shortstop stirred a little bit. A light flickered on in me and my heart warmed immensely. It's only a start, a fragile start, but I could get accustomed to not wanting him immediately off the team again.
  7. It was weird when people were flipping their [expletive] out two days ago when he might miss a week due to a concussion. Well it's bad for him in general if he gets a concussion. Bad ones can ruin careers, multiple ones can do serious damage.
  8. *rubs eyes* I'm seeing double here, Four Castros
  9. I really think Bryant needs a few days off in a row, he's a mess right now
  10. Checking the score on my phone and boy am I glad I'm not able to watch this because the botched scoring opportunities woulda drove me up a wall
  11. I, too, want to see the Schwarber in the lineup. Give the people what they want
  12. Beane going for it last year was pretty much the right move and they are ~20 games under .500 since then. Baseball, man. Then again, trading Addison Russell for 3 months of Hammel/Samardzija and the Marcus Semien pu-pu platter from the White Sox after the year and bailing on apparent Hall-of-Famer Josh Donaldson are their own fault. IMO, "going for it" for me wouldn't have involved trading one of my best hitters when the team wasn't particularly strong at hitting. I thought it was a weird move at the time.
  13. The Oakland A's *still* have a positive run differential (+31 runs) and are 13 games under .500. Their Pythagorean is better than the Cubs.
  14. Ah well. a mighty anticlimax for the opener of a big series for playoff teams.
  15. Hahah just watched the highlight of Beltre hitting for the cycle and teammates try to touch his head and he gets reeeeaaaaaal pissed
  16. Well. That could have been much worse.
  17. I'm not sure what Maddon sees in Soriano. He needs to be fired out of a cannon.
  18. Anthony Rizzo is so good at baseball yall
  19. Dexter, you're hitting well and have a great approach, don't bunt I dunno if i should blame him or Maddon for that
  20. I don't understand Soriano coming in here at all. Isn't this prime opportunity or Wood? I don't get it
  21. 26 games left against Miami, Atlanta, and Philadelphia, plus another 13 against the Rockies, Red Sox, and Reds. I'm already preparing myself to be spectacularly bitter that they factor in the race at all due to their garbage division. Maybe we should start really thinking about the Nationals as wild card rivals then :-&
