  1. I really shouldn't be shocked, but I do find it surprising how much more fun, joyful and hopeful this team is when it's in a stretch of hot hitting and not a collective drought
  2. Nothing could be easier for them to have some clubhouse cancer article pre-written and ready to go. The lack of an easy narrative ain't fun.
  3. After the comedy of errors that was bunting by pitchers in the last series, it's nice to see some unforeseen positive Buntz here. 3 might be enough against this lineup, even with Cy Haren, Greek God of Stranded Baserunners
  4. I legitimately have no idea who half the Brewers lineup is. I'm not convinced they're real people.
  5. That is a bad bad bad lineup. With Haren pitching this is some "irresistible force meets immovable object" scenario Will be fun to see what gives first
  6. It is ok to make a thread about how a player is playing bad when they're playing bad
  7. I can scarcely imagine the vortex of stupid Kaplan and Haugh put together is
  8. Barry Rozner is a dude that still cares about RBI and pitcher Wins, he's completely useless Though Bernstein's mechanical, slavish devotion to WAR is nearly as bad and lacks introspection and curiosity (like looking at peripherals ever)
  9. its ok he's some sort of Good At Baseball Totem, wherein he emanates good baseball but he himself cannot be Good at Baseball
  10. I wouldn't hold out much hope that Haren stays there
  11. Oh yea, Dan Haren is on this team. Ho-hum. That's a ballsy reference, Sammy Sofa
  12. I'm finding it impossible not to like the Blue Jays right now. They're a team full of dinger machines and they're taking down the Yankees. Its awesome. Definitely my #2 bandwagon team the rest of the way.
  13. Peavy has always been a red ass, a big whiner and a big aggressive guy Good bye Peavy
  14. Cubs up to 81% in playoffs odds at Fangraphs, I assume similar numbers at Baseball Prospectus when the odds are refreshed tomorrow. http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx
  15. Ricketts kinda looks like Ted Cruz and it weirds me out
  16. I don't even want to proclaim this the best moment of the season so far, because heck they're still ascending. But I feel very positive about this sweep of the Giants
  17. Christ almighty that was some butt clenching right there Job well done. Big sweep of a big time team. Wonder when the last time, if ever, the Cubs have had 3 4-game sweeps in a season
  18. Good lord just don't give me an extra inning game I won't handle it well
  19. It's gonna be so nice not seeing the Brandons or Pence again for a while (well I guess like 2 weeks) Even though the Cubs managed it this series they are so damn dangerous
  20. Yeah, I feel uncomfortable about this too, especially since this team could use some more runs right now
  21. It'd be cool for the cubs to be the beneficiary of a rain shortened game here
  22. Have the Cubs scored in the first inning of every game this series? Impressive stuff
