  1. 30.4% chance to win the world series with the final four sitting where they are. heck yeah :neo: :good:
  2. No Greinke, no Kershaw, and fewer Lefties is A-OK with me.
  3. Alright, guess we're playing the Mets. I ain't scared
  4. deGrom is looking anything but unhittable today Greinke is looking better but not his untouchable self. All of this may be apropros of nothing but I'm just keeping an eye on em.
  5. Daniel Murphy just took 3rd on a walk because the Mets were playing a pull shift to right field and no one was covering 3rd. I love it. Reminded me of when Ronny Cedeno was thrown out at 2nd on a walk once, and how angry I was when I saw that garbage.
  6. Hey I'm gonna get (justifiably) yelled at for this, but is there anywhere where people are talking about Eddy Julio Martinez? I rarely check the Amateur, Minor League, or Transaction boards and looking at them I don't see any chat about him and the Cubs potential (apparently disputed??) signing of him. Obviously its kind of a strange time to talk about him with whats going on with the team at the major league level, I'm just curious EDIT: Ah ok there's something in the Minor League forum
  7. I really hope I don't get to see a Jonathon Herrera at-bat in this series But... I'm resigning myself to its inevitability
  8. Addison out for the whole NLCS? God damn that sucks. I don't think it hurts the team *too* much (we're lucky to have a surplus of good middle infielders) but thats a bummer.
  9. The Rangers just completely self-sabotaged their own rally. First, they bunted, which is dumb, and then made the 3rd out trying to steal 3rd base What are you even doing
  10. The TBS cast has been horrible, but on the highlight of Schwarbers dong you can hear the pure stupefied amazements: "...Mercy" "...what in the world?"
  11. Starlin's girl is, uh *tugs collar* wow
  12. Cardinals fans can't even really complain about the playoff structure unless they want to abandon that dead-ass 2006 team that won 83 games and lucked their way into a championship It's probably the worst baseball team to ever win the World Series. (There was a Twins team that won 83 and the championship too if I remember correctly?)
  13. Maybe I gotta stop looking at what are usually pretty frivolous projections, but I'm surprised to see the Cubs are already projected as (very very slight) underdogs in the NLCS against ??? by FanGraphs http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx I would have thought the extra days off and letting our team set our pitching would count for..something? Their projections always love the Dodgers though so it may just be the Dodgers getting a mega bump
  14. If he wasn't a cancer survivor, I'd agree. But I mean...that's kind of a big deal. He certainly has Resting Butthole Face. He just looks like he'd be a jerk to you in person.
  15. lmao Jonathon Herrera's hilariousness is at an inverse relationship to how good at baseball he is. Keep doing you, Jonathon. As far as the Cardinals, without their ludicrous, world-historic opponent Left-on-Base stat, they don't win the division. By the end of the season it became more and more obvious their pitching staff wasn't the talent the world thought they were. Their scrubs got exposed, they worked the one horse they had into the ground, and that was that. On the other hand, all season I remained unimpressed with the hitting ability of that team, and they became mashers at the end of the season. Piscotty, Grichuk, Pham, along with Carpenter, Holliday, and Heyward (if they keep him on), is a hella fearsome bunch. It was infuriating to not find a single hole in that lineup except for the catcher spot (and what a hole it was).
  16. I was thinking about this (for god knows what reason), but who is actually someone that is unlikable on this team to neutral observers? I can't think of anybody. Maybe Strop for the moronic baseball police crowd? I love them all. Pirate fans aren't particularly pleased with Coghlan for understandable reasons Beyond that, maybe Fernando Rodney for his antics which I find hilarious
  17. I'm probably more worried about Kershaw and Greinke, who've been excellent and really really good against the Cubs this year. The Mets pitching has also been strong against the Cubs though. I guess the Mets offense is slightly scarier than the Dodgers with Cespedes going off like he has, but neither team is as good hitting as the Pirates or Cards were. Really, the question then is who do you want to beat to vindicate historical failure? Wash away the 1969 collapse taste? Or the 2008 sweep embarrassment?
  18. If Schwarber pimped tonight's donger like he did the Pittsburgh one, it would be the all time favorite. He didn't flip his bat in contempt for the other team like he did there though. Which is a shame.
  19. They should never remove it, or make like a cast iron memorial to the most donged ball thats ever been donged
  20. Listening to Pat's call "If you feel like you can't sit still...you are not alone. I wish all of you could be right here at this moment. Unbelievable atmosphere!" right before the 3rd strike nearly brings a tear to my eye. God damn
  21. He's earned it. OMG i can add you to the people i love now THANK YOU This team is so good it mends the fractured bonds of old rivals
  22. So that was the most gratifying playoff series for the Cubs in more than 100 years right? What a fun ass team
  23. Never mind. That insurance run helps. How is this only going into the 8th? Christ
