  1. Now this drive is vintage Ben Johnson: great mix of play calling, being unpredictable, great running plays, great play action just keep it going
  2. first time all season i'm kind of pissed at ben johnson because they look like the eberflus bears out there
  3. i want to die again
  4. damn, ok, thats one way to make up for it
  5. Bears are OUTRAGEOUSLY lucky so far on defense. Let's see how the offense fails to capitalize again.
  6. vikings will obviously have a long, painful TD drive now
  7. we dont NEED to bomb it out on 3rd down. i know its there but like, its ok to just convert a 3rd down on a play past the sticks
  8. i'm gonna need this team to not look like complete horsefeathers on offense for 3 and a half quarters please - act like you know how to run an offense
  9. Bears extremely fortunate to get 2 stops there. Need to enforce your will on these guys.
  10. would've loved anything but a three and out there
  11. Wow I’ve never seen someone go from “out indefinitely with a possibility of coming back in like December” to “maybe playing this week” with like, zero updates in between
  12. Jaylon being back would be very cool
  13. I don't think they will! But they may go 3-5 down the stretch and only snag one of those games. Is that a disaster?
  14. It might not feel good given how the schedule lined up (and it very well might not feel good for the locker room) but I also don't think we need to have unrealistic hopes and expectations for a team that has some serious issues and is under its first year with a new head coach and multiple new systems. It is quite likely the team will be *playing* better football near the end of the season and still losing games against teams like the Lions, Eagles, Packers, etc. Should we feel bad about that? I don't think we should. I think we're only setting ourselves up for being pissed off and angry over a team thats going in the right direction. I also think they will steal a game or two off one of those better teams - and that'll be fun.
  15. I think a very good, and realistic, outcome for us this year is a repeat of the 2022 Detroit Lions: ends up at a 9-8 record, really good offense that got even better down the stretch, terrible defense, knocks Green Bay out of the playoffs on the last week of the season, all trends proceeding well for the next season. It would feel really nice to beat this middling Vikings team though.
  16. I think anyone semi-competent has the potential to light this Bears defense up. It just is what it is: In the modern NFL, if you can't generate pass-rush, any non-complete disaster at QB will complete passes and score points. Running QBs are even more dangerous and frustrating. I hope that JJ is a disaster QB and has a horrible day, but I'm expecting he frustrates us and puts some points up. Bears have something coming together offensively though. It's still very strange to think about them as a top 10 offense, given how janky and hurky jurky things have been at times, but they, at least statistically in many areas, are. If Caleb can keep building on some good outings, if they can keep that running game going (and I think commit just a little bit more to it) and receivers can keep passes in their hands, they win this. But, a lot of ways for this to go wrong, of course. It's still a work in progress, but the progress is proceeding nicely.
  17. They're not even really "in" first place, given the tiebreaker with Detroit. No I don't think this is that year, but I do think the future is quite bright.
  18. I gotta bad feeling about this one. Bears certainly capable of taking this game but the defense is really on the edge of collapse every game and JJ McCarthy is the exact type of bad QB that can feast on us with his legs. Well, nearly any QB can feast on us, but it'll be extra annoying if he does. Offensively we're still putting it together but the Vikings are a well-coached team and I expect them to throw some real challenges at Caleb and co. The Vikings are a mess but they did just take down the Lions. Vikings +2.5 shows that Vegas basically considers these teams equivalent. Would be super nice to take this one, move to 7-3, and bag another win with the real teeth of the schedule approaching. But something about this game feels like the Ravens-type loss. Bears keep escaping games against (IMO) inferior opponents without exerting their will over them. That can only last so long. I do think that kind of gumption will allow the Bears to steal a game against a superior opponent at one point this season, but at some point you will get burned when you play down to your competition. Go Bears. All faith in Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams.
  19. Bears in 2nd place in the NFC North 😎
  20. I hate the Packers so much. Just LOSE you bastards, LOSE
  21. if both teams look like horsefeathers and suffer a bunch of injuries and the packers lose, then this is the best outcome for us
  22. There was something very Eberflusian about the Giants effort down the stretch there. That was 100% the type of game the Bears would lose in the Giants situation over the past.... well about 15 years. It's very strange to have a team and a coach that doesn't lose that kind of game. Still not used to it.
