  1. would've loved anything but a three and out there
  2. Wow I’ve never seen someone go from “out indefinitely with a possibility of coming back in like December” to “maybe playing this week” with like, zero updates in between
  3. Jaylon being back would be very cool
  4. I don't think they will! But they may go 3-5 down the stretch and only snag one of those games. Is that a disaster?
  5. It might not feel good given how the schedule lined up (and it very well might not feel good for the locker room) but I also don't think we need to have unrealistic hopes and expectations for a team that has some serious issues and is under its first year with a new head coach and multiple new systems. It is quite likely the team will be *playing* better football near the end of the season and still losing games against teams like the Lions, Eagles, Packers, etc. Should we feel bad about that? I don't think we should. I think we're only setting ourselves up for being pissed off and angry over a team thats going in the right direction. I also think they will steal a game or two off one of those better teams - and that'll be fun.
  6. I think a very good, and realistic, outcome for us this year is a repeat of the 2022 Detroit Lions: ends up at a 9-8 record, really good offense that got even better down the stretch, terrible defense, knocks Green Bay out of the playoffs on the last week of the season, all trends proceeding well for the next season. It would feel really nice to beat this middling Vikings team though.
  7. I think anyone semi-competent has the potential to light this Bears defense up. It just is what it is: In the modern NFL, if you can't generate pass-rush, any non-complete disaster at QB will complete passes and score points. Running QBs are even more dangerous and frustrating. I hope that JJ is a disaster QB and has a horrible day, but I'm expecting he frustrates us and puts some points up. Bears have something coming together offensively though. It's still very strange to think about them as a top 10 offense, given how janky and hurky jurky things have been at times, but they, at least statistically in many areas, are. If Caleb can keep building on some good outings, if they can keep that running game going (and I think commit just a little bit more to it) and receivers can keep passes in their hands, they win this. But, a lot of ways for this to go wrong, of course. It's still a work in progress, but the progress is proceeding nicely.
  8. They're not even really "in" first place, given the tiebreaker with Detroit. No I don't think this is that year, but I do think the future is quite bright.
  9. I gotta bad feeling about this one. Bears certainly capable of taking this game but the defense is really on the edge of collapse every game and JJ McCarthy is the exact type of bad QB that can feast on us with his legs. Well, nearly any QB can feast on us, but it'll be extra annoying if he does. Offensively we're still putting it together but the Vikings are a well-coached team and I expect them to throw some real challenges at Caleb and co. The Vikings are a mess but they did just take down the Lions. Vikings +2.5 shows that Vegas basically considers these teams equivalent. Would be super nice to take this one, move to 7-3, and bag another win with the real teeth of the schedule approaching. But something about this game feels like the Ravens-type loss. Bears keep escaping games against (IMO) inferior opponents without exerting their will over them. That can only last so long. I do think that kind of gumption will allow the Bears to steal a game against a superior opponent at one point this season, but at some point you will get burned when you play down to your competition. Go Bears. All faith in Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams.
  10. Bears in 2nd place in the NFC North 😎
  11. I hate the Packers so much. Just LOSE you bastards, LOSE
  12. if both teams look like horsefeathers and suffer a bunch of injuries and the packers lose, then this is the best outcome for us
  13. There was something very Eberflusian about the Giants effort down the stretch there. That was 100% the type of game the Bears would lose in the Giants situation over the past.... well about 15 years. It's very strange to have a team and a coach that doesn't lose that kind of game. Still not used to it.
  14. My main guess is that Burden hadn’t had the scheme down by the beginning of the season and that explains most of the playing time disparity, because, physically, you can see the talent differential
  15. OZ - Olamide Zaccheus, who I have to imagine was getting the number of reps he was because he’s a vet, likely could get the scheme down, and is a willing blocker Unfortunately, the man’s hands are driving me nuts and I want him banished to the quantum zone
  16. I think it’ll be very hard to not win at least 9 games. The Browns game at home is as close to an auto-win as an NFL game goes, they’re just dreadful and have no offense, which is a problem against us. then you need to win just 2 games against the remaining 7. No matter how tough these teams are (and recent weeks have shown every NFL team this season is mortal). Coaching and morale on this team is too high to suffer a 2024 doom spiral collapse.
  17. I don’t think Caleb was particularly inaccurate today. Forget the drops, which were numerous, there were a number of incompletions that may look like he was off where he really wasn’t (but the passing game was out of sync) for example: in the 3rd quarter (I think) there was a play where there was a free blitzer and on first look it appeared that Caleb waited way too long to hit his hot read and there was an ugly incompletion to Monangai. But then you watch the replay and you see Monangai didn’t get clean off a chip block and took way too long to get in on his pattern, which made the delay from Caleb AND his throw all make sense.
  18. I gotta say, I usually like Greg Olsen but I objected to a lot of what he said today. He was harshly critical of Caleb at times when it didn’t make any sense, failed to notice the double standard the refs took on roughing the passer when it came to Caleb being hit in the head, and I think he was frankly wrong on the Giants decision in the 4th. 95% of the time I think Greg Olsen is right on the “kicking field goals is a losing play” in comparison to going for it when you’re on the goal line, but in this circumstance, up by 7 and with your back up QB in, to kick a field goal and go up 2 scores I think is the right move. I maaaaay change my mind after the penalty to bring it within the 1, but I’m still not sure.
  19. By the way, I’ve seen enough of Olamide Zaccheus. Please transfer all plays directed towards Zaccheus to Luther Burden, please and thank you.
  20. The stats don’t really tell the whole story. Dart had a pretty strong game, and it’s very possible we don’t win if he doesn’t get injured, but Caleb was on all game long and suffered some real backbreaking drops. Plus he was so money at the end I don’t even really care that much. play calling and game flow was off until the 4th though. One of the rare mediocre games for Johnson.
  21. Well, I’ve seen enough to say Caleb is That Dude in the 4th quarter.
  22. These drops are killing my soul man
  23. I’m gonna need our offense to punish the Giants for their cowardice
