  1. Sure, I suppose I meant how impressive it is to bring in 4 new starters and have a very effective line this quickly (though there were definite growing pains, like the pre-snap penalties)
  2. lowkey even more impressive than the strides in the passing game is how well Ben Johnson has schemed up the running game and how well an O-line they patched together in one off-season (4 new starters??) is playing
  3. It would be so cool to have them both back Doesn't solve the whole "We don't get any pressure from our D-Line" which is the biggest problem on the team, but it'll help a lot
  4. If I remember right, wasn’t Favre similarly banged up going into the game with the Bears before we ended his career? (I looked it up and he had missed the previous week with a hip injury) This all seems just like a bad idea from Rodgers and tempting fate to really damage a freshly broken wrist but… we’ll be my guest buddy
  5. I know Rodgers really wants to play but I can't imagine he can with a broken left wrist. Sure, its not on his throwing arm, but you know, you have to be able to like take a snap and horsefeathers. I don't see how he does that.
  6. Interesting. So this basically rounds the Bears out as an average defense and a slightly above average offense. I’d probably calibrate that to a Bad defense (but not disastrously so) and a decently above average (if inconsistent) offense. Playing the almost perfectly average Steelers at home. Hm. Get your 8th win, and send Rodgers packing.
  7. I love my fraudulent first place Chicago Bears.
  8. One thing I really liked about Caleb's game was how ready and willing he was to go to his tight ends on the blitz - he wasn't perfect at it and I think there were a couple plays where he had a hot read and didn't make it - but he made it a lot more often than he has in the past and Kmet and Loveland really ate.
  9. I do want to give a shoutout to Santos on the kick offs - there is a new strategy going around the league on trying to angle them and bounce them in the landing zone to force more touchbacks that go out at the 20 and make for more difficult returns, and he executed that very well on Sunday. and I'm rarely going to be very mad at going 4/5 on field goals on a day. Wish he had that 5th one, but its asking a lot.
  10. I think football has changed so dramatically even in just the last 5 years that we’re going to see a lot of weirdness with stats that were developed and calibrated in the last 20 years. its impossible to overestimate how much things like: changes in how the passing game is called by refs, the proliferation of ultra-accurate and ultra-long kickers, changes in kick off rule (now everyone gets the ball roughly 10 yards closer to the end zone before) ((and I hate this)), and strategic changes (far more 4th down and 2 point conversion attempts). If things continue in this direction we may see punting almost disappear completely. Every drive would result in a score, a turnover, or a turnover on downs. Honestly I would hate that but I’m a Football Boomer.
  11. The Bears still aren't very good but listen, there's no need to apologize for anything, the Vikings recently won 13 games with a negative point differential. Now the Bears are like, pretty likely to make the playoffs too lmao. Sincerely don't care how fraudulent a team this is, that rocks for Ben Johnson's first year and the roster's confidence in him and themselves.
  12. we're not allowed
  13. if Eberflus was some kind of magnet for bad ju-ju, poor late game management and bad morale...than I have to believe Ben Johnson is the opposite. He Just Wins Games, Folks.
  14. Pretty bad game for Caleb, approximately 37 plays that if the Bears simply catch the ball/don't miss a routine fg/don't fall over and miss a block/don't run right into a defender/don't hit your own guy preventing an INT and hurting both of you/not miss several open guys... you win this easily. JUST ONE of those had to go our way. So, I dont feel too guilty about winning this. Not to mention several personal foul calls the refs refuse to call when its the opponents killing us
  15. Ok, my earlier serenity was validated. These Bears really make you work for it huh
  16. i dont trust Santos with horsefeathers anything is the problem
  17. I thought things may have been different but no... I fear I was wrong
  18. Extraordinarily predictable and preventable 50 seconds for Caleb and 3 time outs to get into field goal range Feeling pessimistic about it
  19. The Bears are trying to lose this huh I kinda had hope they wouldn't, but it was misplaced hope
  20. There have been roughly 37 plays where if the Bears just did one thing right this game is over Very tough game
  21. If you give them the ball back you absolutely lose, I’ve seen enough football to know that
  22. Please god don’t give them the ball back with us only a 6 point lead my stupid heard will not be able to handle it
  23. LOVELAND IS A STUD
  24. We’ve all seen this game like 739 times before right? This is 100% a game the Bears Just Lose. Let’s see if anything is different under Johnson.
