Ok, this guy might actually be very good. If we can somehow hold onto Byard I really like our secondary+linebackers.

I don't love our biggest splash FA-wise being a Safety, but we'll see. Hendrickson got $190 million at age 32 and I don't love that either. Free agency is tough because you are by definition overpaying for people, and usually people after their prime. You can get Edges and D-Tackles in the draft. Get the right couple of guys.

Smart move, he was playing on the same level as Edmunds (or even better) and he's like 20 million dollars cheaper.

They were like the 27th ranked Defense. It cannot be worse. When both of their 20 million dollar linebackers were out D'Marco Jackson came in and immediately looked better than either of them. I really, purely cannot believe they can look worse. I'm fully prepared to have this be quoted at me next year, and make me look like a fool. And I invite it.

Obviously nothing is guaranteed but the Bears are very squarely in their window right now. Let the official offseason actually begin and let them go through FA and the draft. There's no way the defense is worse than last year, and despite the Dalman loss, I don't see the offense regressing either. As long as they avoid the injury bug (always a concern) they're part of the class of the NFC.

Depending on how good the 1st/2nd rounder is, I don't know if I agree. D-Line is one of those positions where, provided the guy can play, you can play him immediately. "Established" guys are just as often washed players on the back end of the career, I'm looking at you Ryan Poles, and the 2024-2025 offseason.

I know there are a lot of people (mostly media people) invested in a Maxx Crosby trade but I'm just like... I dunno if I want to sell the farm for a 28 year old guy coming off an injury. Just draft well! Sign a center and draft well! Sorry it's not so exciting.

It's sad to see DJ go, but its a move that makes football sense. I'm still so gutted by the Dalman retirement... it's not a backbreaker but man it makes taking another clear step forward in 2026 so much more difficult. This'll be a real gut test offseason for Ben Johnson and co. I have full confidence in him.

It’s funny how the thing Kevin Warren was hired to do, get a stadium built, he’s absolute horsefeathers at, but the thing I (and I imagine most fans) care the most about, getting a good coach, he was at least somewhat a part of. So who’s to say if he deserves to be fired or not, lol

And on the other side, Adam Hoge is saying that from what he hears (from whom? does he have any reliable connection to the Bears org?) that the Indiana proposal is not only serious but close to being done. I think anything's on the table. I'm exhausted by the whole thing and just want them to be done with it. Do not care where it is, other than I don't want Illinois to further bankrupt itself in keeping the Bears here.

I am absolutely baffled by every move the Bears ownership signals. They are schizophrenic, switching from preference to preference, pulling the rug out, repeatedly, on their fanbase. In the abstract, I really don't care if they move to Northwest Indiana, hell, saddle Indianans with that tax bill. Doesn't bother me at all. But the way they've handled this has been so bizarre. Just pick a lane, horsefeatherss!

I guess it comes down to whether you feel confident at 25 if you can find a guy who is equivalent to Maxx Crosby at age 29. I think... it's usually pretty dicey that thats the case. It certainly happens! How much of an edge scouting wise do you think you have on the 24 other teams in finding that guy?

I'm smashing that "yes" button as soon as possible but I don't really think there's any likelihood that Las Vegas parts with Crosby for so little

Eh, you know, I'm convinced. a 3rd or 4th rounder for Bagent would make sense. Getting assets who can fit holes we have and may see the field are valuable. I still like Bagent for what he is, but he's not irreplaceable. I trust Ben to find a guy who can spot start if need be.
